Uncharted 4 Story Trailer

Perhaps you should read my previous posts in this thread before going there.

So let me get this right, the lighting and particles are something to be blown away by (and rightfully so), but the shadow dithering (especially in that snow scene), the artifacting around the right arm and face somehow goes unnoticed?
Ok.

Did you even look at what post I was originally responding to?
Of course not, you just assumed I wanted to downplay or something.

I was the one you responded to, and I was a bit surprised by your response. Only in that I'm not really commenting on the technicalities of that scene, but more how the gif/scene as a whole just has this "richness" to it. It's just so dense with detail/action/feedback. Throw in 5.1 channels of sound and BOOM, that whole scene, as a whole, will deliver something fierce.

Cheers. :)

In that case, I apologize. Most of the thread is about how stunning the technical feats are, so I thought you were referring to it in that manner.

Yeah that was great too but i barely remember anything from the Uncharted games, i played them all on release day when they came out and then never touched them again.

I'm thinking about getting the HD collection and play all 3 games again before UC4 but i'm afraid i get burned out lol.

What do you mean by that?

Uncharted 2 and 3 are very great and definitely worth playing again (not sure about Uncharted 1 though since I could never manage to play that game for more than 30 minutes. Boy that game has aged so badly)

I find this KZ2 gif more impressive than the Shadow Fall one. That game was so ahead of it's time.

While KZ:SF is the better looking game, I always preferred the looks of the KZ2 Helghast. I found the to be more striking. The design from KZ:SF was too slick. There was just something iconic seeming about the Helghast that was lessened when they shifted to the sleeker/slimmer armor. Just my opinion.

Visually the game looks quite cartooney, but in the cutscenes, everyone looks realistic. I find this transition rather jarring. Otherwise, I am excited. I do wish the colour palette was more realistic in-game though.

I really hope this game still has that fun light hearted factor too it. This trailer makes everything seem more serious, not something I want from an uncharted game personally

Just watching again and there isn't one joke or light hearted comment. druckmenn gonna druckmenn I guess. Still hyped

Hope the game has the " guy above you, guy above you.... guy below you" stuff still

This is IMO the first real triple A title on the ps4 and it doesn't surprise me that its a naughty dog game. Cant wait to see what they bring with the last of us sequel. Take a bow!

I'm a KZ fan and totally agree with your point.

The menacing Helghast design from KZ2 fit in with the grimy, iron-war aesthetic so well.
I also loved that sleek Helghast look and sci-fi city landscapes from SF but it wasn't as impactful as what GG had done before.

Why does young Sam say "we were meant for this, Nathan" in the trailer then?

Doesn't sound like Sam to me. It's a voice over with footage that is completely unrelated. You don't see his lips moving at all when that sentence is said. The trailer is deliberately misleading.
I'm sure Rafe has known Nate and Sam for a long time.

Yeah, people should keep that in mind. Neil has said that they do mislead in trailers, even going as far as to create scenes specifically for trailers in order to throw people off

We purposely deceived [players] with certain trailers. [The] shot where Joel’s on the floor and he looks kind of sick and he turns up. That shot was made just for the trailer. Just to make it look like he’s infected or there’s something wrong with him, and then it’s juxtaposed with a shot of Ellie holding a gun, so everyone’s like ‘Oh my God, Joel’s going to turn and Ellie’s going to have to shoot him at the end!’ That was constructed in such a way so that people would guess that and think that that’s the obvious ending, and then we could turn it on them.

The game looks incredible, could not care less about the story but it's looking more and more beautiful every time the game's shown. The PSX demo in 2014 was more than enough to show me that ND have learnt a huge deal from TLOU and the minute to minute gameplay is sound. With the Uncharted games, it was just set piece and not much else but it will not be the same case here.

Has co-op definitely been confirmed for this game? I don't buy games and have not done so since GT5 all those years ago, but if this has co-op it will be a day 1 purchase. UC2 co-op was incredible, loved it so much but I've not seen a single bit of co-op in UC4 besides a very brief mention. The MP beta was good but I just ain't into that anymore, Black Ops 3 was a game I thought would be played MP wise for hours on end for me but I played about 30 minutes.

The division looks a decent co-op game so that will keep me happy until UC4, but if there is no co-op I'll just rent it and blast though it in a couple days.

Isn't that what 343 were raked over the coals for?

Ha, no.

343 constructed a marketing narrative that had nothing to do with the events that transpire in the actual game.

Naughty Dog presented elements in a trailer in a way as to obscure their meaning. That's what a good trailer should do.

Given the more open environments (including vehicles, some concept arts, underwater segments and that beach), I'd say this game will reach TLOU's length. 14-16 hours based on difficulty and treasure collectibles (which some might need clues to find the location). I think I might go for Hard on first playthrough, I always go for normal to enjoy the ride but I need to make this first playthrough last XD.

What I wonder if there will be additional gameplay elements that TLOU introduced - gathering of resources, limited crafting of useful items and levelling up of main character abilities.

If UC has crafting, then we've truly fucked up video gaming

its like the one series we could escape from the open world/collecting bullshit/crafting bullshit phase of western AAA gaming

Imagine that it not only has crafting, resources, and leveling, but LOCK PICKING.

Whewww all that gameplay.

The only thing missing is create a character, classes, romance options, and fast travel. Maybe then it could be GOTY.

Thank you for taking his hype down a notch, can't have people being excited by posting such downright disgusting gifs. I'm sure you're off to other threads like the QB one and doing the same....
