Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth |OT| The Prodigious Mon Returns (Courtesy of a Petition)

I'm sure this has been talked into the ground, but I'm not going to skim all 141 pages...

The game looks stellar. Like, I'm looking at it and thinkin this is some traditional ass JRPG stuff and that's exactly what I'm looking for... but the attack animations and effects I saw in the gameplay footage just look like different colored "energy" circles, or just a little whip kick, or something. Does it ever get any more interesting?

I'm in regardless. Just curious if the "action" (for lack of a better word?) ever looks as cool as the aesthetic choices.
Each Digimon have one or two unique skills with it's own animation (like the moves they do in the Anime), then they have a generic animation for every other skill.

Just got my first Megas (BlackWarGreymon, Imperialdramon, and WarGreymon respectively).

Are Great/Black Tornado supposed to be this overpowered? I just did the sentai homage sidequest and everytime I used those attacks it pretty much one-shot each of the bosses.

I wonder if it's beneficial to keep Lucemon FM instead of going for SM. I hear people say SM isn't as strong as you'd expect.

He's not. His Defense is really shitty and has no item slots to hold anything versus FM that can hold one.

I keep him anyways because I prefer the design and Special move.

Is there an in-depth guide out there about this game? With training and max stats, all that stuff? Wouldn't mind doing some reading while I get to know the game better.

I used the gamefaqs guide for a lot of things but for max stats you can do it in game with the Digimon field guide. There you can assign a lvl and see the stats the Digimon would get as long as you had said Digimon at one point.

I'm playing on Hard Mode for my first play-through and am wondering If I should switch to easy.

The main reason being that I just finished chapter 3 and I'm finding that if you go into a boss battle for the first time, without any prior information, having the wrong team set-up gets you killed pretty fast. Also, considering that your party memory limits you to using around 3 Digimon (of the evolution level you need to compete) it's not a viable strategy to take reserves so you can switch out the Digimon that are extremely weak to certain types and/or attributes in battle.

Does the party memory limit become less of an issue in the mid-game? Or perhaps leveling up my digimon more significantly and making a more varied team will help?

Looks like my quiz is bugged. How should I go about this when I finish the game? Can I camp out after the first few chapters and keep the game running for constant quiz questions?

Just got this game the other day. It looks real pretty, but I miss there not being a dub. I want to hear Agumon say "pepper breath" and have the nostalgia flood back to me.

Is the game worth paying 40€?
I tried to play Re:Digitize and didnt liked it (digimon died always etc..)
The gameplay is completely different compared to Re:Digitize. This game is a traditional JRPG unlike the monster raising gameplay of Re:Digitize. If you like JRPG then it's completely worth it since the gameplay is sublime and imo, have a good story as well. Have a look at the gameplay videos posted in the first post to see how it plays.

Welp, I broke down and decided to make me a Platnume to speed up leveling. Good thing I already had a PlatSaku and a high level Super Starmon.

you have better digimon than i did when i was at that point in the game >.>

Grinding is a hell of a thing.

I always found this funny and true a lot of the time:

That said I do really like the Digimon designs even if they don't always make sense.

Speaking of, while raising a Myotismon in the farm I couldn't help but be reminded of this.

I feel like leveling goes slower in my farms than it used to. Or maybe I just check my farms too much.

Also, will there be a point later in the game where you can't raise stats by evolving back to a previous form again? But still need higher stats for final evo or something?

No, you are completely safe about that. DNA digivolve has the potential to annoy but nothing super bad or anything.

They can be.

They can also be ridiculously badass.

Look at it. Tracking raidar dish. Missle salvo. Jets in the back. A rail gun in the front.
Pretty disappointed that he didn't get the Missle Salvo as his special move. I was excitedly anticipating that :|

If you're talking about bonus stats then you'll be able to buy items to reduce the points you've put in to specific stats from farm or leveling. I think Dedigivolving is only meant for ABI increasing and shouldn't affect stats majorly.

Most stat requirements are easy if you've do the three PlatSuka's and Tactician USB's.

How do you even put specific stats from farm or leveling? It all happens automatically :>

And about the stat increase from dedigivolving... I meant, every time you do that, the level limit increases so the stat limit increases. However, that ends once you reach level 99, I guess.

To focus on a specific stat you need to set a leader with the personality that increases that stat in the farm.

The personality types:
Durable=HP
Fighter=Attack
Nimble=Speed
Defender=Defense
Lively=SP
Brainy=Intellect

Builder and Searcher are for shortening development times and investigation times.

Once you've set a leader with the personality and put the digimon in with that leader that you want to increase a specific stat, select training and generally do the hardest one even if it decreases CAM. CAM is easy to bring back up.

ABI is what allows for more bonus stats and you'll cap out at 99 which is fine because even when you Dedigivolve your rookie at some point will be able to hit 99. I could be wrong but each Digimon has pre determined stats and then you change them with the bonus points.

So are the royal knights the only way of winning the legendary cup? I gave it a shot last night but the damage I was doing wasn't nearly enough to beat those 3 healers at the end.

No, in fact, most of the Royal Knights (the ones you create anyways) are rather inefficient in battle. What Digimon types are you bringing to that fight? Do you have anyone with DEF penetrating skill that can dispatch one of the three quickly? Do they have max ABI with 100 Bonus points in a beneficial stat (and matching Personality)? Are they equipped with good items?

Haha I just can't bring myself to leave this leveling area. I've finished complete builds for a Cherubimon Vice and Lilithmon, though I'll have to do some training later with them.

Almost done with a MetalGarurumon now. Debating how much further I want to go here since it would be nice to move on.

It's kind of crazy going through all the various paths when you're aiming for certain skills. It can be easy to lose track of where you are or forget the path back to the Digimon you want to end on.

Haha, yeah I ran into this problem early on so i opted to name Digimon the Digimon I want to end on as a permanent reminder. Worked pike a charm. You can name them something else if you'd like after they're done.

Yeah. It's how I ended up with Lucemon. Almost finished leveling it to 99. Also about to get Mastemon, but I'm wondering if I should level up my Lotosmon to 80 in order to get Rune Forest III before reverting her to LadyDevimon. I originally Digivolved her to get more ability but then decided to get more skills along the way.

Most of my Digimon are vaccine and virus type the only datas I have are metalgarurumon and sakuyamon, my only two digimon with def-penetrating skills are wargreymon and titanmon, so neither one them is effective, wargreymon can almost kill ophani with one brave tornado but since they buff the fuck out of them by the time is his turn again she's at full health, I don't think any of them have max abi,and the items I have on them are pretty good (I think)

Yeah I've thought about doing that. Sometimes it's just losing track of the direction I need to go back in de-digivolving or digivolving to get back where I need to be.

I've got one of those as well though haven't done much with him yet. I may need to go get some more skills for him. I've heard he's actually one of the better lower class digimon but want to aim for his mega forms too. I'm working on the digimon for Mastemon as well to have them ready. Also have an Stingmon and ExVeemon ready.

HOLY SHIT. All of Chapter 10 was fucking amazing. <3
And it keeps getting better in later chapters. I honestly wasn't expecting much from the story but this game surprised me.

I just remembered something, did the
ghost girl
had a purpose? I thought she was hunting the occult club and that she was the mysterious slasher but it ended up being something else.
