Oh yeah, you're right. I just saw people mentioning it, put that together with the leaked list where there was a possible new one or something and thought that made sense. I don't pay much attention to these games.
True, but don't forget that Nintendo Directs always have new reveals and surprises (unless someone leaked them somehow first)

They said something like that for chibi robo, but to be fair even the mainline games for CR had questionable sales.

Nintendo used Awakening to judge the success of Fire Emblem in the future. Nintendo thinks Federation Force is a real Metroid game.
Then don't buy it. Buy the games on virtual console... It's all available now, save for ds games and other m. I have all of them, excited for federation force.
I got hyped for .0001 micro-seconds when I immediately read the "No NX or mobile info" I understand about NX but why no mobile info when Miitomo is actually launching this month? Nintendo...
Looking forward for this Direct anyways. Not that hyped because really, what else they have left to show? Especially on Wii U. My bets:
- Paper Mario U reveal trailer. Carbon copy of Sticker Star but in HD. Meltdowns across the interwebz.
- More animu RPGs for 3DS (ugh)
- 10 minutes of Metroid Prime Federation Force and lot's of "screw you fans we do what we want despite the massive negative reception with this game. Here's your new Chibi-Samus amiibo wich is the only way to play with Samus on the actual game"
- Pokkén footage nothing exciting.
- Mario and Sonic at the Olympics footage. Megaton
- #FE footage nothing exciting only weirdness that only 5 people are gonna buy.
- New amiibo announced
-Star Fox Zero exciting trailer with a special message by Miyamoto at the end to announce it'll be delayed again.
- Peeeeeeeeeeerhaps a lil trailer for Zelda's 30th anniversary like they did with Mario last year and maaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe another 3 second teaser of Zelda U of Link running on the same old grassy field we have seen for two years now.

It's a spin-off. If it doesn't sell well then they'll know that people weren't really looking for a metroid spin-off. Wishing it to be cancelled is spiteful, especially if you have no idea if it's actually fun or not. Yes I want more metroid, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy this, too. So many slippery slope arguments with fed force.

Torte City would be a strange codename for monster hunter.
They were going to potentially retire a long-running, largely mediocre performing franchise for something different if it didn't get results. At no point was this levied against fans, it was an internal statement about the future of the franchise through the performance of mainline titles.
Awakening simply exploded thereafter due to what the developers did and how the game was marketed.
This has nothing to do with the scenario you quoted. Equating them is erroneous and disingenuous.
And the whole "Nintendo doesn't publish Monster Hunter in NA" issue that everyone seems to forget.

Of the rumoured stuff I'm most excited/nervous about Paper Mario. If the WiiU got a TTYD level game, that would be amazing.

So, what do we know about this Direct, at least about its European flavour?
Screw it, I don't want to analyse. I want to hype!
- Satoru Shibata is hosting the Direct
- Ed Valiente is hosting too, according to PR email
- There will be some news on Yo-Kai Watch
- There will be no NX or mobile news
- Proper European Yo-Kai Watch introduction/announcement (we already know the release date)
- Information on some indie games or third-party games - information on localisations, maybe?
- Fire Emblem Fates release date, maybe the announcement of some New Nintendo 3DS LEs (although NoE tends to present them outside of Directs)
- Star Fox Zero / Project Guard / Project Giant Robot information - I don't believe in delay rumours and I'm pretty sure Projects weren't on hiatus
- Genei Ibun Roku #FE information, English title and release date
- Reveal of (some) unannounced Nintendo 3DS games from Trev leak
- Reveal of Disney Art Academy (?)
- Metroid Prime: Federation Force re-reveal (I don't think there will be some significant changes or something, neither I want them)
- I'm not sure about that Paper Mario rumour; instead, I'm eager to hear about Pikmin 4 unless it's on NX

I really liked how Federation Force looked, personally. Not as a main series Metroid game, but as a game on its own, it looks like it could be fun! Plus, I trust Next Level Games.

I *NEED* zelda line amiibo. I'd guess they'll all be themed after the new zelda, but I'd kill for different amiibo from different zelda games.
If the NX doesn't do as well as expected, third pillar may be appropriate this time around, ha.

I doubt Nintendo would make amiibo of something they don't own, but if Toby Fox can find a way to do it, it would be a brilliant move.
Though he might get better margins on the Fangamer stuff.
