Far Cry Primal |OT| The Land Before Towers

Once it was pointed out that they have the same voice actor, all I hear is Adam Jenson.

I watched a Ubisoft preview video of this before release and I was wondering why Adam Jenson was narrating it(in English) and then once I got into the game all I could hear was Cave Man Jenson too. I wish I didn't recognize the voice actors voice.

I only need a rare deer skin to upgrade the final hut! I never had one in 18 hours of play. Don't know where to find one. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

This game is huge. Just having fun doing missions and exploring the world. The legendary hunts are amazing.

Sorry for the double post. My mistake.
That's just a white deer iirc. They're all over, even by the starting area.

So early game is there anything you can do to fight off a saber tooth?
You can keep most animals away by lighting your club or spear and holding it out between you... just try not to set the groung on fire, unless you want to.

There's an outpost up north that is a cave system with a big hole in the top. I could see 4-5 guys at the bottom so I used the owl to drop a berserk bomb on them. They cleared out the whole outpost for me. Awesome.

I just saw in a site that the map is the same as Far Cry 4? Was this already discussed here? Sorry if it was.

Either way I plan on getting this sooner or later.

It really does look moody. Which is why i've been complaining about the lack of dynamic weather. Day and night cycle with good fog, rain, storms and thunderstorms would be freaking epic. I actually wanted some areas in the game to do this during my 4 hrs i played the game. I know other Farcrys don't add weather, but this one would benefit a lot from it.

How is Far Cry 4 when comparing to this? I am enjoying Primal very much and it got me interested in the franchise. I tried FC3 but the main character got on my nerve too much.

Thanks for your opinions guys!

I enjoyed 4. You have the wingsuit pretty early in the game, so you can fly around all over the place to move. It has tons of verticality.

If you like Primal formula you'll like farcry 4. Its the same, but with guns... it also has non of the support animals, but you get more weapons i guess.

I've enjoyed every Farcry and its upgrades since they have come out haha. So i might be biased.

Uh oh. I've been enjoying Primal quite a lot over the past few days, but the Ubisoft game fatigue is starting to set in again. I should finish up the story before I completely burn out and lose interest.

Since about the 10 hour mark I've been really struggling to finish it. There's just not much motivation story wise. The game has a very easy platinum trophy so I've been forcing myself to keep going, and to be fair there's still moments where Oro still impresses me.

Ha, that's funny.

Doesn't bother me, I never would have noticed if I didn't see this. Primal has my favorite map of the series, bar none.

yup i didnt like far cry 4 but for me this game is alot better just seems fun maybe because it isnt using guns, and it feels so much more immersive

is there an easy way to disable the HUD? I checked the menu and seems like each element had to be turned off separately

i play the game with no hud anyway and sometimes switch minimap on if i wanna go somewhere specific, otherwise no everything has to be turned off

Something weird happened. I went to take this outpost last night, got killed and then decided I would just try again today. Today I load up my game it says it has already been captured. But it doesn't recognize I did so (only says 6/15 outposts captured when it should be 7). Anyway, kind of thinking it won't give me the trophy when I do them all since I can't capture that one (not to mention I just like doing outposts, so I wish I got to capture it). Trophies aren't a huge deal, but I did plan to try to grab the platinum so it is a bit of a bummer. I guess I will see what happens.

I just started playing this on 'hard' with no HUD. Animal encounters are pretty intense and the atmosphere is insane. I'm enjoying it a lot more than Far Cry 4 so far. It looks really good on PC too.

Soooooo, am I the only one that noticed the Wenja village is the only place where you see children? Are people from the other villages all grown in pods?

I'm guessing that's because you can't use weapons/animals when in your base. They probably want to avoid players intentionally (or accidentally) going around killing children in enemy forts/outposts.

Certainly understandable. It's become the norm that children are invulnerable in games. Though I remember that in Deus Ex: Invisible War, that this was not the case.

Anyone have tips for getting Rare Elk skins?

I found them completely by chance. Up in the northern regions, I believe. Same rules apply as any other rare animal. Look for the scent trail, try killing a few of the normal variety, etc. etc.

The game becomes wayy too easy once you have a decent beast by your side. It scares away most of the other creatures, and takes away the intensity of exploring the wild.

On the flip side, having a beast opens up the combat in many needed ways.

We need dinosaurs! Give me the bow and arrow, spear and stone club with tamable/rideable dinos and it's all good.

Yes, a Primal inspired Far Cry Dinosaur game would be fantastic!

The game is probably one of the most gorgeous games I've played.

I'm playing it simply to explore that world half the time. I love it.

Got the platinum today, took a tad bit over 30 hours with about 7-8 hours of that doing stuff I wouldn't have done in a normal playthrough - running extra stuff so I could get enough skill points to get the skill points achievement. Every other achievement is pretty easy and most will just come with you playing the campaign, although I'd suggest knocking out the 50 yard spear and 70 yard arrow early on and killing enemies with traps when you can to get that out of the way. The "bug" where XP stops being earned sucks, forces you to run the orange skill point missions for the last 4-6 points but at that point you don't care about XP anymore so you can just Rambo in and kill everything without worrying about stealth. I was popping the top level food like it was candy.

7/10 game for me, really nothing special in any part of the game and the whole is weaker than the parts. It was fun taming some pets and riding them, but there was no depth or complexity there. The story was probably the worst Far Cry story I played. Hunting at night was really fun. I liked stealth and bow & arrow combat but the multi-take down system was bad and the boss fights were not particularly enjoyable.

All in all I'd say I regret the purchase, not a game I will think about ever again. Oh well, at least I bought the physical version for $48 and it trades into Best Buy for $38 so a $10 rental and a platinum out of it aren't too bad. I do like how Ubi has made platinums more reachable for normal playthroughs, this is my third Ubi platinum in the last 2-3 years - Far Cry 4, Assassins Creed Syndicate, and now Primal.

Can anybody tell me how to get into the region behind the Udam (?) main fort where you fight Ull (?). I can grapple up, jump across but go no further after going through the ravine a little.

See for Beast kill missions do you just randomly kill whatever animal they ask you to kill? Because I started a mission and it never added anything to the hud.

It should be within a designated area that gets put onto your hud

Hmmm. I think my saves bugged out a bit. I keep accepting side missions and it says it has added the quest but nothing appears on my map. For reference the only way-point I have is for the final mission. But I'm reluctant to finish it until I've done everything as apparently it bugs the XP.

I think you're talking about the same region I played last night. You're gonna have to go up and around the landscape on the left (you'll see it's a series of plateaus), then follow the trail you'll see (that leads from left to right) if you zoom in on your map. It will lead to an underground cave, and you'll come out on the other end in the area you're looking for.

Kind of a pain in the ass to get there, to be perfectly honest.

I never would have tried this game if it had guns, I find guns boring, this is much more appealing to me....I just tamed a Sabertooth tiger and love it :)

Personally, the amount of story is just right for me....the game really is about the atmosphere and playing around with what you encounter with what you have.

The base game barely has any story in the first place.

Haha. True.

But there's usually DLC for every game, and it's surprising that Ubi didn't announce a pass for this one.

Then again, maybe in some ways, it kind of is Far Cry 4's expansion. It's a new game, but does reuse assets like the map.
