Hatsune Miku Project Diva series general discussion thread

It wouldn't surprise me if it were PS4 only in the west, way things have been going. May be the last portable Project Diva who knows...

And at least if the medley is in that order, I'll get to enjoy two faced lovers before bowing out in 2DDF or Gekishou.

Remember that localization of F 2nd was announced three days before the Japanese release. (And X is releasing exactly two years to the day from that announcement.)

It's not like Sega of America can afford to put out prerelease media continuously. They would want to use as close to a final build as possible for it.

I'm cautiously optimistic re: X's localisation. There's little reason for why they wouldn't do it, but Sega are so inconsistent that you never know with them.

I won't even finish that Medley on Extreme, because I've never beaten a single one of those songs on Extreme...

I've never beaten Gekishou's old chart on Extreme, so if they're using that instead of F 2nd's much easier version... may Miku have mercy on me.

Gekishou's old chart is just unfair to those who of us who don't have really fast fingers, I compensate with dual wield but it's just not enough for the chart in Extend I can't beat it at all.

This. It's just a stupid chart--difficult for difficulty's sake and no fun at all. It reminds me of some of the more mediocre user-created charts I've tried.

- Hatsune Miku no Shoushitsu (The Disappearance of Hatsune Miku)
- Ura Omote Lovers (Two-Sided Lovers)
- Sadistic.Music Factory
- 2D Dream Fever
- Hatsune Miku no Gekishou (The Intense Voice of Hatsune Miku)

The contents of the final medley in Project Diva X, as detailed in Famitsu. Gekishou is back. Again. Hope you enjoyed that one game it wasn't in.

Look at all those songs that I haven't beat!

Considering that niche Japanese games are what sell the best on Vita, and that between f and f 2nd they went from digital only to physical release, I would be shocked if it were PS4 only. I can understand when they're reluctant to bring over untested brands to the Vita, but the Project Diva series has proven successful multiple times, Not bringing it over would just be throwing away money.

I personally took F 2nd's retail value halving within the first month of sale as a very bad sign in regards to how well it actually sold. I don't think F 2nd is a gamble that paid off.

Well, I'm waiting for the PS4 version either way. I don't care if I have to import, even though I'd much rather prefer buying the NA version.

So maybe they'll go back to digital only, but I just can't see going digital to physical to nothing at all.

You don't know how happy I am right now. I was grinning from ear-to-ear for minutes.

This isn't the hardest note chart out there, I know, but it's been a personal rival of mine to say the least. Back in October 2014 I just wanted to clear the song. And clearing it the following month felt AWESOME. But I always told myself in the back of my head that a Perfect just wasn't in the cards.

Well, March 2016 with six hours put into the song has finally proven my notion WRONG! I finally perfected it. Nearly two years this has haunted me. And it's finally done. A weight lifted off of my back. Nothing but a joy is in that song now - It was my first Project Diva song ever thanks to the Vita demo so that already made it really special to me, it was my first Perfect (on Hard to boot), and now I can say it's Perfect on Extreme.

I'm just.
I'm so happy right now.

I'm not sure I like the individual mixes for the Michie medley but as a whole it sounds very good.

I've heard rumors that PS3 kept the low fps cap for parity reasons. Can't do anything to threaten Vita sales!

It was a departure though since IIRC the Dreamy Theater games were 720p60.

PS4 though should have no technical reason to stay 30fps I would think.

Dreamy Theater was 60fps, yes. F and F 2nd being 30fps on PS3 was always kinda odd to me for that reason, so X on PS4 staying 30fps would only be for parity between the two versions. It cooooooould happen, but I'm not holding my breath.

60FPS makes getting Cools so much easier, if Future Tone is anything to go by. The day it comes back to console versions will be joyous.

They must have the most reference material of anyone, ever, for what a glow stick waving audience looks like, but you sure can't tell from how it looks in these games!

This is soo true. I always thought the crowd glow stick animations could be better than what we've seen so far. To me, it always looks like that aspect was lazily done.

Got a pre-order in for X.

I am now officially hyped. Have Express Shipping on it, so I'll get it between the 26th and 29th!

Where did you order your copy at?

I just went through PlayAsia because I've never had issues with them. Never ordered from some of the other places that had cool pre-order bonuses, so... Sticking with what I know.

Was going to use AmiAmi, but a copy from them was like $10 more before shipping. :X

What? No, let's compare SKUs.

Japanese base version at Play-Asia: $56.99 USD.
Japanese base version at AmiAmi: 6,380 JPY = $56.27 USD (today's rate).

They seem to have the same price when you compare apples to apples.

I have this really odd problem where I can't play Project Diva at 60 fps. Dreamy Theater looks strange to me. The movement of the notes feels off. I can't stand it.

I know that 60 fps is objectively superior, and I know that it should in theory be making the game easier to play, but I just can't seem to get used to it. I'm too used to 30 fps.

I usually hate 30 fps btw. I essentially built a gaming PC so I wouldn't have to deal with low framerates.

Oh. Yeah, you're right. It turns out I was looking at their Bonus version (here), which is priced higher by ten dollars. I'm used to pre-order bonuses being "free" add-ons with releases in the West, so I figured it was just their base price. >.<

No big deal at least. I'm fine with PlayAsia. But that cleared my confusion!

That is strange! I can't say I've ever experienced notes feeling off with 30 or 60 FPS (the latter just tends to get me better scores). And I very rarely get to play games at 60 FPS due to a weak computer and the relative lack of 60 FPS console titles.

Don't the notes move at 60fps on the PS3 version of F 2nd? (Not sure about F, only have it on Vita.) They at least seem to move more fluid than on the Vita version.

I just want to see the 60fps music videos. There are quite a few 60fps videos on YouTube from the PD Arcade, and they look really good.

No, they're still 30fps. It's just that the Vita version has this weird stuttering problem with the notes that isn't there on PS3 so they seem more fluid.
