That PS4 number is basically market leader numbers. Congrats PS4, only took you 2 years!

And I think the 3DS estimate is ~165k.

Ok, instead of reposting the entire thing, if you want to see past years of January to February comparisons, look here. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=196822577&postcount=2

Now then, I will go with 405k as the PS4 number, as that is a nice looking number :p

Code:
Xbox One January: 132K / 4 = 33,000
Xbox One February: 248K / 4 = 62,000

Weekly average up 88%

PS4 January: 230K / 4 = 57,500
PS4 February: 405K / 4 = 101,250

Weekly average up 76%

Wii U January: 40K / 4 = 10,000
Wii U February: 69K / 4 = 17,250

Weekly average up 73%

Yikes at Street Fighter V being below 210,000 units, it will be a great contender for the biggest bomb of this generation. Even Super Street Fighter IV sold more with only 5 days of tracking.

There is no way Street Fighter V will come close to reaching Capcom's forecast of 2 million units shipped by the end of March unless retail channels are flooded with unsold copies.

Here is a launch comparison (physical copies) between Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter V in the 3 biggest regions.

Street Fighter IV

US - 849,000
Japan - 124,000
UK - 88,000

Total - 1,061,000

Street Fighter V

US < 210,000
Japan - 42,000
UK < 24,000

Total < 276,000

Street Fighter IV shipped 2.5 million units worldwide for the period from February to March 2009. With nearly a 75% decline at retail I can't imagine Street Fighter V shipping more than a 50% of what Street Fighter IV did back in 2009, Steam and console digital sales can only do so much.

Nintendo better have something good with NX to go against what's become a dominant market leader.
They don't.
They have said as much. Their intention with NX is to be a bridge of many things: unify development, have hardware to go along the competitors and support for a 3-5 years period. It has never been intended to take over the PS4. But live along it.

The Pokemon limited edition N3DS?

When Nintendo needs to prop up their numbers they just release a new version of the hardware to milk their shrinking fanbase again and again.
Barely counts as that was released at the end of February.

Though a Fire Emblem Fates 3DS was released along the game on the 19th.

Tax refunds happened.

I swear to god Nintendo screws me EVERY time. WHy the hell are they selling 165k 3DSs. They have no business selling that many T_T

the two reasons i can think of is that fire emblem fates is at least a little bit of a system seller, and that there isn't any other dedicated handheld gaming system in the market.

ROTW has gotten bigger in the 7 years since SFV as well. While I don't know if they'll meet that 2 million target (it probably depends on how willing they are to aggressively drop the price), I think it'll probably get closer to 1.5 million than the 1.25 you're thinking.

RE6 PS4 edition will save Capcom

Do you guys really think SFV sales are going to pick up? Think of all the big releases that are hitting, The Division, Uncharted, Doom, Overwatch, etc.

The casual buyers are going to forget about SFV quick.

I return to what I mentioned earlier in the thread: the next few months will definitely indicate if MS's recent statements regarding iterative hardware will have a chilling effect on XB1 sales.

I'm still somewhat surprised the PS4 is up YoY after the big holiday sales. Sony have been smart with bundles. CoD bundle doing work. Guess this is the year the PS4 starts pulling away in the USA. Definitely explains the bigger MS focus back to PC.

Might be the last Street Fighter in a long time.

Its hard for me to envision a scenario where SFV has good legs to be honest

That really depends. I mean, they still need to finish development and release the game...oh wait, you mean they released it early and it isn't finished?

Yeah, they won't see that 2 million target until Ultra SF5.

Really?

I mean, it bombed, but 2 million that far off?

Nah.

I don't see how Xbox One is gonna catch up... crazy.

the xbox one is never going to catch up. the race in the us was really the only one where things were even close. the truth is the platform will probably not sell 50 million units worldwide without a big change in direction, while the ps4 should easily double that number.

i think us fans are a bit spoiled in that they were able to witness some kind of competition, where they could pretend that the dedicated industry was healthy and growing.

It will never catch up. In fact it will fall further behind at larger percentage than any other year this gen. 2016 is the year the PS4 really pulls away as we've seen in the past 2 months

do you don't think it won't sell more than ps4 in any month this year? gears month or april for example

Are bundled sales included in that 315,000 Fire Emblem Fates units? If not, then it nearly sold 3.5 times more than Fire Emblem: Awakening (bundles excluded).

Project X Zone - 53,000
Project X Zone 2 - 18,000

Xbox One's bundles are more expensive this year than last year... how do you guys the sales will be? It was predictable.
