Lol.

Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much
I trust Nintendo would only abandon buttons if they had a solution that was 100% functional and comfortable to use. They aren't just going to copy phone touchscreen controls and leave it at that.

not tryna be dumb but why are people overlaying game footage on the controller? aren't you playing the game on your TV and using the controller display for interface info?

under the assumption that the controller either supports off tv play (which is one thing people liked about the wii u) or acts as the handheld in addition to a controller

The reason I don't believe it's real is that it looks entirely too well made and high quality.

I do not believe for a second that Nintendo will make a device that looks and feels high end and not skimp on screen, battery and anything else.

Ok. Maybe this is it:

It comes with many different buttons that the user themselves can attach in whatever form they want. Full control of button layout, the controller is a canvas if you will:

Putting two and two together.

Pushing in the analogs will be acting as face buttons along with the shoulder buttons. Touch.

Standard controllers offer roughly offer 16 buttons. 4 face buttons, 4 - dpad, 2 analog, 2 bumpers, 2 triggers, 2 start/select.

NX will be offering 4 buttons based off pictures.

You could also tilt the right stick to point at on screen buttons. I think that could work really well.

It's like some of you are desperately trying to play GOTCHA! with Nintendo. Do you really think Nintendo or any dev would hide essential information in a place obscured by your thumbs? Do you really think just superimposing some footage from a Wii U game onto the controller is how Nintendo is going to approach development for this thing?

People are just imagining stuff to be angry about at this point. If you don't like the idea of haptic buttons or whatever, cool, I can totally understand. But to assume you can point out some fatal flaw in the design is really a bit silly.

The shoulder buttons on the leaked image are like mouse wheels, do you could scroll them or push them, adding more functionality than a standard shoulder button.

People should stop referencing data that makes me feel uncomfortable because games get ported to platforms I don't like
Wonder if Nintendo is going to have to come out and address this now. If this thread is any indication, sentiment for the NX is plummeting.
That's nothing to worry about because sentiment for Nintendo overall has plummeted since the Wii era and it took a nose dive with the Wii U.Nintendo has alot of convincing to do with the NX.

I feel like I'm the only one digging the design.

Also, I would think of the screen that's going to be covered by your hands as 'extended' screen. If only the middle portion of the controller was screen you'd have almost the same result.

Also you have to picture those gifs with the button layout added, which would have to take some good space on the right of the left stick..

Well maybe after this nonsense bombs Nintendo will come around to games on PC. It's the natural best route for them to take and I wish they wouldnt fight it.

Of course not, why would they have to address a potential leak false or not? They want to reveal by themselves, no some random internet photo.

They were right.
The Wii Remote has never been the standard control of a platform outside the Wii.

It came fast and went away as fast.
Motion controls are pretty widely adopted for gaming. PS4, Xbox (Kinect), Wii U gamepad, Steam controller, basically ever modern mobile phone, etc

I'm excited for this. I'm glad that Nintendo is still working hard to innovate, especially since other platforms are becoming more and more homogenized. I trust them to get the feel of the controls right. If anyone could do it, it's Nintendo.

Well... Maybe it will be cool... Maybe.

I struggle with this though because that sort of screen really looks like something you'd have to plan a game around, and if the Wii U has taught us anything, it's that 3rd party devs aren't going to plan around anything that isn't common to the other consoles.

I mean, I buy Nintendo platforms for Nintendo games, but I fear this. I really do.

What if the D-pad and ABXY buttons can be attached with the handle grip? Kinda like the 3DS circle pad pro.

edit: Oh someone already came up with a photoshop. lol

When people say they will have their hands covering their screens, do they seriously use their whole hands when playing handheld games or just their thumbs?

Well your thumbs and a portion of your palms are going to cover the bottom left and bottom right of the screen. I don't see how you use this without the palm coming on to the controller.

Phone reception is more important to me than human rights
So on screen buttons...

This thing is going to be nice for games that can take advantage of it.

But is gonna suck so hard for regular gaming.

This doesnt make sense. More buttons? If you have more than 2-3 on this touch screen, youre gonna be fighting for screen space with buttons vs gameplay. Not to mention, your hand is going to be also covering some of the screen.

I get the idea.. but it just doesnt seem like a practical solution given the size of this unit and the lack of any buttons period (other than the L and R that has been mentioned).

I'm not convinced that the screen space is actually meant to be used for gameplay, and not just to look fancy and use buttons on. There's no indication that you'll be actually playing anything on the controller like with a wii U gamepad, and if it is indeed a console controller than obviously the majority of gameplay would be happening on the TV regardless

This is my concept of the Nintendo NX and how it could be done to solve the lack of
a button input:

I think there are solutions to the problem being had right now.

Nintendo have made some pretty awful controllers over the years but I refuse to believe even they are this out of their mind.

Sticking with the opinion that it's a fake made by someone with way too much time on their hands.
