... So do I need to upgrade my Ps4?
... I have a PC already though?
There will be a bump in power for VR. Won't be 4K fidelity Nathan Drake or anything like that, but will definitely be noticeable in the console space.
1080/60 will no longer be an issue for titles like 1886 and Battlefront.
That's my guess.
I hope this means all future consoles will be fully backwards compatible with our digital libraries going forward.
I don't mind PS4.5. I want more news.
Noob question. Since it is 4k bluray, is it possible that SEE will make FF7RE into one disc instead of multiple split release??
PS4 slim with 4k bluray and netflix...etc support.
Nothing else makes sense.
Agreed, anything else would be just plain nuts for Sony. Why fracture the gaming market!
4k on ps4 looks real nice.

I think this is the most realistic version of what would happen, even if the new iteration launched in late 2017. The difference in hardware Sony could pack into a $400 machine this far out from the original PS4's launch probably isn't enough to take a game from 30 to 60fps, or from 1080p to 4K. But it likely would be enough to allow for 4K media, allow VR to run more smoothly for a variety of games (like No man's Sky or Battlefield), and allow existing games to stick closer to their framerate caps. Bloodborne, Witcher 3, and Just Cause 3 for instance would probably actually run at 30fps instead of bouncing around in the 20's.
How did you come up with the $800 figure? We are on the verge of a GPU node shrink, a CPU generation change, and a RAM architecture transformation. AMD's entire portfolio is about to turn upside down, and the components/architectures we've come to expect in the last 5 years will all change into a completely new form.I don't think however that native 4k at 30fps will be feasible unless the unit is more than $800.00, but improvements enough for a dev when making a new game could have a 60fps 1080p version on the PS4k and 1080p/30fps on the standard PS4.

no, sorry
existing ps4 is and will stay the primary console for the coming expected years, all what this new ps4 system will do is run ps4 games in 4k, graphical assets will be the same across both systems. Will there be some enhancements here and there sure, but that's the point of having a 4k set.
basically, but no options this is still a console
I guess that's what I meant by new architecture. Used the wrong wording. I just meant a drastic upgrade compared to the upgrade during the middle of the generation.I keep asking this, but will PS5 even be a new architecture? Couldn't it just be a more drastic upgrade?
Maybe Sony might use a different AMD GPU/APU or whatever, but I don't see any reason for it to leave behind x86.
Million dollar question: Should I cancel my preorder for Uncharted 4 LE console and wait for new model in order to upgrade my launch system?

Depends on your patience. Can you stand to NOT play Uncharted 4 day 1 ?
I don't think this supposedly PS4.5 is coming out before 2017.
Is Sony really gonna wait till E3 to confirm this?

In DBZ Terms:
AMD is Goku going Super Saiyan if he goes Polaris, Zen, and HBM.
AMD is Goku going Kaio-ken if they stick with the same architecture.

I really don't understand why more people aren't talking about this. We are on the tail end of what I would consider the worst four to five years the GPU market has ever seen. The market has been price gouged to hell and back, and tech advancements have been smaller than I have personally ever seen. A node shrink, new memory tech, and huge optimization and architecture advancements on AMDs side are going to lead to custom APUs that are going to be a massive step up from what is in the current machines on a similar size chip. Will they be capable of holding 4k with other improvements? Maybe not, but they will likely come pretty close and we could see a 4K dynamic res that resembles the 1080p dynamic res that we are seeing on XBO. And hell, why aim for 4K, shoot for 1440p with other added effects instead. That would still be a big leap, and would absolutely be possible with a new custom APU.How did you come up with the $800 figure? Did zoetis get claimed? D:
His isn't banned yet so either Kagari is still waiting for him to verify himself or he already has.
Well this lines up with how Sony didn't unveil a 4K BD-player yet for home and will probably try to position this as some of their leverage into that market off the bat. $500 seems plausible. I mean, Samsung is charging people $400 for their pile of a 4K player.
It's pretty much a given that media will be 4K/HDR capable output at this point. The real question is if gaming will output at 2160 native, or will they have some form of scaler in there, and not a traditional scaler found in BD-players/TVs.
He supposedly was originally vetted by Bish, they might have just told him to knock off the teasing.
These PS4 leaks/rumors/whatever have me wondering why we haven't heard anything about regarding the Xbox's iterations, especially with how open they've been about it. The Xbox Polaris info leaked a while back but nothing recent. Makes me wonder what's up
I'd say you're right on the money, and it's a good deal for people already looking to spend $400 for 4k disc action.
I think AMD polaris 10 is the PS4.5 GPU & all the AMD polaris 11 GPUs are for the Windows 10 devices that will replace Xbox One.
I don't care what's in the PS4K as long as there's a 5GHZ wifi adapter....please...
I'll buy it no matter what lol.
So a ps4 with 4K capability and the VR box inside? Ok whatever.
VR box will not be inside because the VR box in for sending a undistorted video signal back to your TV after your PS4 sends out the video signals for the VR set.
I don't think Sony is crazy enough to have to 2 HDMI outputs on the PS4 & have people connected directly to the console with the headset for them to yank the console down.
Well and they are selling the VR with them. What are people supposed to do with all these extra boxes? Seems stupid to have an additional SKU after this releases. That'll piss people off.
