I'm pretty hyped for it. I basically went from:

  • Hyped on initial mention at E3 2014.
  • Less hype at its next showing, due to it being so similar to SF64.
  • Renewed hype at the most recent Direct that showed it off
  • More hype now as I see this footage

Basically, I love the series. I loved Star Fox 64, and I think Star Fox Assault (despite some flaws) was the best in the series. So I'm hyped. Let's hope it turns out great!

I would be much more interested in this if it was on the 3DS..

And honestly, from the looks of it, seems like that might have been the original plan

I watched it live, and Aquarosa boss fight was fucking INTENSE - I was pumped even by watching it. I don't know who to thank for it, Nintendo or PlatinumGames, but maaaan... I was looking forward to this game, but now I KNOW I need it.

Is Falco amiibo the 'glass cannon' mode? That would suck, I thought that option would be included.

We don't know if this is amiibo exclusive or if the amiibo is just an insta-unlock while it is a post game reward or something without that.

None of this makes sense. The game exists because of the independent viewpoint pitch, something which is wholly impossible on a 3DS and only possible on a Wii U.

I'm not saying they couldn't have gone the extra mile with the game (and who knows, they might surprise us all), but I'm very happy I'm gonna be able to play a classic-style Star Fox game, which is what many people (myself included) have been asking for.

To me, it seems like Nintendo wanted to give Star Fox its The Force Awakens equivalent. Something that's heavily based on a previous installment as a way to get the series back on track after years of middling/mediocre/bad installments.

Think its kinda funny they went from flying under the rock formations to turning into a chicken to press a button

Im guessing the logic was the hard path should be for those who know how to turn into a chicken? I dunno.. pretty uncreative

Damn I just started to realize that too.
I really hope this is sucessful.

Nintendo is always super early with review copies unlike pretty much every other publisher.

Unlike pretty much every other publisher, Nintendo sometimes waits even a year until they release finished and localised titles. Most other publishers don't have such planning, I guess (well, we Sega is apparently doing this with Sonic Boom now).

I enjoy the occasional shooter, both Sin&Punishment and Kid Icarus Uprising were fast paced action packed games that I like, but I look at StarFox Zero and see the slow paced gameplay of the N64 game. I still haven't seen enough to convince me it'll be challenging and not a complete borefest and since it's unlikely Nintendo will show any possible late-game challenging stuff I'll be waiting for a price drop and fan impressions.

Looks promising.

That's Nintendo aim, let's see if they can pull it of.

... But the 3DS has two screens. Playing devils advocate, you can show two different viewpoints at once, if you wanted to.

Something still seems off about this game despite the improved polish, I have a strong feeling that the slower segments and lack of an original and interesting aesthetic could harm it. Star Fox Zero just looks like a bizarre doppelganger rather than a true step forward. Despite never actually playing it, the footage made available gives it a 7/10 vibe.

But you need the main screen to be in fixed position (for third-person view) while the lower screen should be free (for cockpit view). And the game is like a twin-stick shooter, with separate controls for flying and shooting (with gyro instead of a second stick).

This thread barrel rolling for one single post. I can'T.

Stay pressed, I guess.

I'm getting super hype for StarFox now. It's been a while and I'm ready for more. Can't wait.

I've tried and tried, I just can't see any way that this is a good thing. I mean, all of the starfox games (that weren't spinoffs) were an on rails flying game. I get that they want to utilize the 2nd screen as a neat gimmick, but why are they not providing an option to use the classic layout? Do people honestly want to look back and forth between screens, or at best use motion controls for the reticle?

Just going by the looks of the game I really, really want this (I adore the original starfox and 64). But that control scheme just kills it for me. I can't figure out why they keep doubling down on the control method despite people begging for alternatives.
