Do you think it's fancy? I think of all the methods used to avoid the whole "upscaling keyword", Ubisoft's method has impressed me the most with Rainbow Six. Of course, none of these methods will replace a native image and in many cases I'd even prefer an upscaled 900p game as that would prove sharper. In the end, no matter what it's called; upscaling, reprojection, reconstruction, it's just another term or method to offset hardware compromises. Now if a developer can fool me into thinking that one of these methods are native 1080p and they're running their games at a fluid clip in tow, then at be impressed. Let's be clear here though, none of these reprojection and reconstruction methods have done that or have come close to mimicking the real thing..What do you think about this fancy resolution thing they are doing?

I meant to put "linear 7 hour shooter" in my post. My overall point was that I don't understand how someone who didn't play the game (which is why I gave attention to that part of the post) as well as see how the game was made could go so in depth with what's "possible" on a current gen system. Especially considering this game is doing a lot of stuff that other games aren't doing.
A game being linear shouldn't automatically mean "easier/faster to make".
I agree with your sentiment that you can't judge how much work a game is based on how long or how lineair it is. (and that that poster was just trolling/shit posting) I just interpreted your 'lol' as: hah! you think it is lineair. And if you meant 'lol, 7 hour linear shooter' it's the same thing to me. QB is actually exactly that: a lineair shooter of average length.
And what do you mean QB is doing different things? You mean the attention to detail in the graphics? Or the branching story thing and the tv show. I agree that this is 'extra' stuff, but I wouldn't actually call it stuff other games aren't doing. (Read that VG247 article that was quoted here. They allready feel the need to defend QB against critique that it is 'out of date')
Sadly I can only go deeper into what I mean when april 1st arrives...
I think I might jump on that white console bundle for this. The price seems good on it.
I'm getting this on the fucking Windows Store, aren't I...
Yep, I agree and I stated (probably not clearly) that the term was being used in a negative way from someone who didn't play the game. I was laughing at how it was used (alongside the assumption for how long the game is).
More so the time control and how it plays a role in the game's environments and special effects.
Yeah, goddamn it. I think I'm gonna wait a day or two for impressions, but nonetheless, I still really want to give the game a try on PC and I can't see it coming to Steam or any other platform in the near future.

So i just realised i have a pretty decent rig at work but i have doubts if it's really ok for gaming (it's built for 3d , compositing, editing and stuff). I might buy QB on it.
Can someone enlighten me on how it could perform?
1 Intel Xeon Processor E5-1650 v3 (Six Core HT, 15MB Cache, 3.5GHz Turbo)
32GB (4x8GB) 2133MHz DDR4 RDIMM ECC
256GB, SSD SATA, 2,5"
1TB, SATA, 7200tr/min, 3,5" HDD
Nvidia Quadro K4200, 4GB
I'm mostly concerned about the quadro card. It costs like a thousand bucks, but i'm not sure it can even run games properly.
The real question, gasb, is...Do you want to install the game on your work computer?

Quantum Break Is The Max Payne For This Generation Of Video Games
Max Payne was one of the first games that we at Gaming Central played on the PC, and it had a tremendous impact on how we looked at video games. It built our expectations from them, and instilled a belief in us that excellent story telling, visuals and gameplay can go hand in hand.
And this was almost fifteen years ago. Many games have come and gone since then, and except for the rare Half Life or BioShock or S.T.A.L.K.E.R., most of them have never given us that sense of satisfaction, or the feeling of pride at what Video Games are capable of.
And then came Quantum Break.
Remedy has been known for its critically acclaimed ground breaking games. With the dark gritty film-noir style story, slow motion effects and memorable characters in Max Payne, to the flashlight-and-gun wielding, supernatural-horror-themed with a touch-of-metal, atmospheric masterpiece that was Alan Wake.
Quantum Break is a culmination of the best aspects from those games, and takes giant new leaps. Where Max Payne told it’s story in a comic strip format, Quantum Break does so with interactions you have in the game world, be it the numerous memorable characters or a world brimming with interactive tidbits like e-mails, videos, posters, etc. all of which do a great job of reeling the player in.
And the gameplay is a blast to boot. Every encounter will have you switching between your arsenal of weapons and time-bending abilities. Its refreshing, fast paced, challenging, and incredibly fun. It feels like putting together pieces of a puzzle while everything is being blown to bits. Just because the game is narrative heavy does not mean that it’s light on the action. Its quite the contrary.
The included TV show is also done really well. Instead of focusing on the protagonist, it tells the story mostly from the perspective of the “evil corporation”, making you care about the characters on the other side of the fence. It adds more depth to the game, and also reflects the consequences of the actions you perform in the game. Its clear that a lot of work went into making this game what it is, and shows obvious respect for the player base that will play the game. With meaningful collectibles and high replayability, this game packs a lot of value.
Also, Quantum Break is a refreshing break away from the “Open World Syndrome” many Video Games are suffering from these days. High quality is the word that comes to mind. It’s what describe the game best. High quality. This is the game developers should look at and learn from. Add quality to your Video Games, not mindless quantity.
After beating the game to a 100% completion (full review coming soon), we can confidently say that Quantum Break is the game this generation of gamers need to play and experience.
Yes it's not an issue. I can play during my lunch break.
And for the quadro, i read it was about as powerful as a gtx760 so it's not awful, but it's not good either.
All those impressions... just a few days left. Can't wait for the reviews on Friday morning. I expect a metascore of 89.
I love your optimism, but I just don't see it - the TV show component just seems like a sure target for criticism. I predict a metascore of a low 80 (like Alan Wake, my favorite game of last generation). Maybe even lower

Sounds encouraging but can I trust this source? Is this even a review or just a final build preview, cause I see no criticisms. Are they not under embargo?
Keep the impressions coming.
As for the meta score I'm thinking an 82. It's going to get ripped for it's length, no multiplayer and the TV element.
It'll have positive reviews across the board but a few really low ones will drag the overall score down.
Roll on Friday for the mayhem that will be the review thread
Dunno about anything else but length is definitely not an issue. Unless someone pulled a rushed playthrough and skipped cutscenes bullshit. I just finished recording a full playthrough for my guide purposes and the total play time is unexpected for me.
judging by the impressions, I can see this getting 87 MC, which is a phenomenal score. Mainly 9s, with a few 8s and then Polygon just being Polygon. I'd probably go for with a 9.1 from IGN.
The live action stuff is very relevant to the story, I imagine? Personally not too excited about it, I love a good story buuuuuuuut I dunno

There will be a few troll scores because of the tv episodes I feel. 81 is my guess.
So if someone genuinly didn't like the game or important aspects of it, it will be a troll score/review?
So, when's embargo up on this game? Wasn't that Remedy dev patting himself on the back bragging about how it's ending super early "unlike other games"?

This Friday, more than anything I think they were just happy to give reviewers plenty of time with the game, most reviewers would have had it about 3/4 weeks before its release next week.
Would love to see some really in depth reviews looking at all the different parts of the game and show.
I feel they can be troll scores if the reviewer goes in expecting to dislike the TV show before even playing the game (and we've already seen this mindset quite a bit for this game). 5 point scales can be pretty brutal as well. 3/5 isn't a bad review but if someone like Jeff Gerstmann gives the game a 3 instead of a 4 (with a point docked for the TV show) you're suddenly adding in a 60% review. That's the kind of situation I'm getting at, really. My problem is more with Metacritic than anything else.
12am PT/3am ET April 1st.
