Yes, you can buy the treasure boxes if you don't wanna wait a week and get one free.

For Treasure boxes:

You can buy them for 200 silver
Get one from the postmaster for free once a week (most likely one per account t and not character)
A weekly crucible thing (not related to the shax weekly crucible bounty)

There was one other thing but I can't remember. Most of this was mentioned earlier in the stream.

When they hovered over the lvl. 41/42 PoE challenge in the last stream, it said that it rewarded a treasure box as well.

PoE (just one a week)
Weekly Crucible (just one a week)

Yup.

I mentioned it was a slippery slope previously in DGAF, and people scoffed at me. They literally moved the goal posts sand said 'not until they start selling gear'. And look at it now. You can buy gear with money.

Your first quote make it seem like I was bitching about the game even though I played around 800 hours. Next time quote about my update post rather than trying to imply that I'm bitching about the main game instead of the update. Like i said the update isn't good imo and if you want to interpret that as bitching idgaf. Have a good day.

your buying level 3 gear like you could during srl. don't see the big deal if you don't wanna buy it. it isn't like you can't get it any other way.

Ok this update is pretty sick. I still need more PVE content to bring me back, but when it does suck me back in.. its gonna have so much cool shit.

This seems to be the update where the go from, no weapons and armor for sale, to, only weapons and armor you get elsewhere.

The rationalization is on display: they dole out one treasure box a week from PvP, and one per week for free to the post master (not sure if other sources). Then you can buy extras.

Not a line I'm happy seeing crossed, but I want to see the extent to which the loot stream is affected to judge.

The question is whether those gear actually have decent perks or if they are just cosmetics like masks.

The line is crossed. They're selling gear. It doesn't matter if you have to level it up, seeing as how getting gear is the whole damn point of the game. If they sell the gear, then no matter the level of it, they are crossing that line that shouldn't have been. As of now, they will probably keep selling gear. And people will be buying it because they don't want to wait, and Bungie will keep doing it.

Perks are really useless on gear. THe most important perks are the ones that recover your shield with orb pick ups. As a Destiny Player who has seen all the content the game has to offer, you start going for aesthetic over perks.

One from PoE 41/42

They didn't mention if the postmaster one is one per account or per character. I'm leaning towards the former.

I wanted to see what if any new perks the weapons and armor had, not just the cosmetic aspects of the update, which is what they spent the entire time on. Did see some new perk icons though, so they're in the pipe.

Bungie's goalpost has always been the same since Eververse was announced -- you will not be able to buy a competitive advantage in the game with real money.

When people in the Destiny community said that "they won't sell gear", the implication was always that Bungie wouldn't sell top-level Max Light gear. They have been selling low-light gear since the Halloween event.
