PlayStation’s 3.50 system software update out tomorrow

We need the option to make 'favourite groups' discreet. It's kinda awkward to name a group of people "RL partners" or "IRL friends" or "infant squeakers" and having them immediately find out.

I get what they were going for with the feature, and it does have its uses, but I'd like it to be more of a self-management tool to organize my friends list at my own discretion.

I was surprised to find out "appear offline" wasn't a feature when I got a PS4. I use it every time I play a single player game on Steam.

Glad to finally see it being implemented.

Neat. Where does it it fit in your PS4?

Come on now! It's the fact that remote play needs work a lot of work. I can stream in my own home from my Xbox One to my wireless windows 10 tablet running on a Intel Atom chip perfectly at 1080P yet My PS4 cannot reliably stream to WIRED PSTV's ALSO WIRED! So you see why we are a bit cynical.

We want it to work and Sony needs to make it right ESPECIALLY for those of us that WASTED money on PSTV's and some of us multiple at that.

Don't be a warrior, those of us bitching want it to work because we want to use it like we do those other companies.

It needs work and i will continue to complain anywhere i see remote play talked about here the Sony support forums ANYWHERE till Sony makes it right.

I hate to break it to you but your PSTV is never getting any significant updates

At this point Sony can stick them up Koz ass. BUT my gripe is that the specs listed are the same for PC remote play so I'm guessing they haven't changed anything just allowing the same crap to now run on PC. If it doesn't work flawless at 720P since it can't do 1080P for what ever reason then I still have a legit reason to complain.

I guess we willl find out tomorrow if I'm just a salty ass or if my gripe is valid.

I've played Destiny PVE away from home via Vita RP and it was great with little lag (I mean I was away from home). If I was on my home network I'd probably give Crucible a whirl but I would never play Destiny using a Vita at home, and I don't really play Destiny too much these days.

Glad I helf off on buying a Vita. With PC RP, my work nights will now be spent playing games instead of browsing GAF for hours (yeah I'll still be on GAF obviously, just a little less). Pretty awesome feature if it works correctly.

PS remote play is smart enough to use the home network only if both of the devices are on it, right?

I don't have a Vita so never used it before.

I'm extremely lazy ass gamer that I'd take 720p "windowed" PS4 screen within my Windows desktop than switching remote a few times to reconnect my TV directly to my PS4 (I'd still do that for latency intensive games), so I'm so glad this remote play became the thing.

See this tiny thing that fits into the palm of your hand? It lets you stream PC games at 1080p
OK? That's cool too.

wait does that mean you can remote play on iOS??

possibly. multiple people on reddit have said that deleting and reinstalling the app removes the remoteplay feature on the app.

Ok here is the video of me removing the app and reinstalling it to show you that the Remote Play was removed. My prediction is that iPhone and iPad may in fact get Remote Play! Check the video out [Video]https://youtu.be/Mj3kQJetpco

The last big thing remaining for me is the ability to sort your friends list by game being played. I really wish they would add that.

I can tell you that I have experience with the 3rd party Remote Play client that was released like 4-5 months ago to allow you to remote play to PC and that worked really damn well and an all wifi setup. The ability to have really good game streaming from PS4 to a PC is clearly doable with the current hardware and stuff as was shown by the one man dev team that cobbled together that app. Whether the official first party solution works as well as that will be interesting to see. I'm hoping it does so that I can finally have official support for using a DS4 controller for Remote Play.

God I hope so I hate unhooking the system and moving it around.

Way to judge the quality of a product from trying a different product...

Remote Play on Vita at 60fps is pretty awesome in my opinion, and I am looking forward to finally using it with a proper controller.

Uhh... how are we then suppose judging the quality of a product? o_O

seems like remote play for iOS and android is at least being tested and was inadvertently shown in the app by accident

I wonder if they're pushing that data to the app somehow, or if the app is just looking for a PS4 with 3.50 system software.

Would be awesome if we got remote play on iOS once the firmware goes live.

720p@60fps is competent for streaming.. Hopefully performance is good, and maybe they can bump it to 1080p in a future update.

posted yet?

If this means what we think it means, that would also mean that DualShock 4 will be compatible with iOS devices. I mean, how else would you do remote play on a smartphone? That's how it's done on Sony's Xperia phones, which have accessories allowing you to have your phone held above the controller in an enclosure.

To be fair, remote play works WAY better streaming my PS4 to my nvidia shield than it does streaming to my vita or my pstv, so I actually have high hopes for the PC / Mac streaming.

Hopefully if a direct connection works while internet sharing it could be the best solution for using a laptop as a screen. 1080p/60fps would be better if it could be rock solid and latency free, but it's still something.
