So is there a shortcut to the game somewhere? So far I only see only opening the store then going into my account as the only way of opening the game...

Also since it's all UWA and whatnot, is there an equalivant to a dashboard ingame? Or like the shift+tab feature like in steam where I can view my xbox account/invite friends/send rage mail?
Go to your start menu (Windows logo) and go to "all apps," you should see it there. You can then drag it to the windows menu for quicker access in the future. It can also be started through the Xbox app.

Congrats on the win.

Anyways, while it is true the game doesn't allow recording, you can record the replay with recording softwares. I recorded a few replays with OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) and uploaded them on YouTube. Like this match or this other one where I got absolutely wrecked by a Shago.

What about that xbox dvr thing?

Also the game likes to crash when I search for a match, this happen to anyone else?

So far I'm surprising these high level players, I assume they are high level because what scrub drops $10 on shago? It was all fun and games round 1, suddenly I recognize some of his attacks and break and he panics. He gets round 1, I get round 2, he gets round 3 for the win. I didn't know Shago had mix up teleports and air fireballs and super fast fireballs, back in my day he was still a clone!

Next fight edit: I just had a 11 year old british level 5 glacius talk shit to me on mic "your gonna get wrecked m8 hows a level 1 jago gonna do anything to me"

It was this video down to a T. Same mic quality, same audio level, he started yelling and crying mid match. Oh my fucking god I'm installing OBS right now. HE WAS CALLING MY WIND KICKS CHEAP AND EVERYTHING.

I think the game records your fights automatically, have a look around the different menus in game and they're should be a record of your recent fights.

Not trying to rain on your parade, but a level 22 character isnt actually high (Level doesnt mean that much, just shows you how much they have played with that character), def considering the bonus XP right now. Pay attention to the color of their titles. There is 5 ranks. Qualifying(Unranked) Bronze, Silver, Gold, and then Killer. Each tier has numerous titles, like natural, Beast, etc Though I dont know what goes into each tier. As I mentioned above, there is only160 players with Killer Status right now. And i would say anybody interested in Shadow Jago would pick him up, new or veteran players.

Glad to hear you won your first match though, and hopefully many follow that one :) If youve played Street Figher, you should be able to get comfortable real quick, specially if you use Jago and played a lot of Ryuu in SF.

Also the game records all games. Go to replays and you can save it. If youre on PC, just record it with whatever PC program you like to record game footage. Idk how to use Xbox DVR on PC.

I got to SILVER League last night. Been playing Sabrewolf to rack up 20 wins in Ranked for the achievement. Went on a 7 game losing streak immediately in SILVER. Finally got a win and ended that play session. An hour later, came back and got 4 more wins but then lost.

The worst thing about the game so far for someone new to it is being matched up with someone who has been playing forever.

Aganos - If someone knows how to play them well, I'm just dead. After they initially combo me, they armor up and any attacks by Sabrewolf just gets absorbed and countered. Stun locks are the worst because Aganos light attacks look like heavy attacks and I just can't read them well enough yet.

Maya - My first Maya showed up and rekt'ed me something fierce. Some characters have stupid cross ups and she is one of them. She's doing stuff I had never seen before or thought possible. They could have perfected me on that game.

Hisako - Another character who's light attack at times can be perceived as a slow heavy attack. Also another character who has deceiving overheads. I have a chance against her though.

Rash - Usually no complaints about Rash until this one turd played so differently. His technique was to corner me and in his jump over top of me, tongue lash straight down which was like an overhead and start to juggle me for 5 hits or so. Just 5 special move or normal hits, but effective.

Glacius - A good Glacius will just straight up murder me. Some of the moves appear unblockable.I don't understand that yet.

Kim Wu - She can go fuck herself. Cross ups, overheads, random spamming of nunchuks that apparently are anti-all. H8.

In the end, basically what needs to happen is just more games against more diverse characters to learn what is blockable/counterable/punishable/etc.

Love the game but I can see really good people not getting out of certain leagues just to kick newbie ass all day long.

Well the game is almost 3 years old so yeah you're going to play again Vets for sure.

Aganos - If someone knows how to play them well, I'm just dead. After they initially combo me, they armor up and any attacks by Sabrewolf just gets absorbed and countered. Stun locks are the worst because Aganos light attacks look like heavy attacks and I just can't read them well enough yet.

His FP is much slower than his LP and its pretty distinct, go into training mode. He's really tall so Sabrewulfs jumping FK is a good attack and dash through cancel into crescent moon attack can quickly eat up chunks.

Maya - My first Maya showed up and rekt'ed me something fierce. Some characters have stupid cross ups and she is one of them. She's doing stuff I had never seen before or thought possible. They could have perfected me on that game.

Her jumping FP I think is a very trick cross up, just need to practice.

Hisako - Another character who's light attack at times can be perceived as a slow heavy attack. Also another character who has deceiving overheads. I have a chance against her though.

Well you can delay her Mediums and Fierces, again I don't know how you could confuse them for lights. Fierce attacks have a different sound as well upon contact.

His shatter move where he hits you from underneath is unblockable, watch his animation and you can jump towards him and punish if you're spaced properly.

Kim Wu - She can go fuck herself. Cross ups, overheads, random spamming of nunchuks that apparently are anti-all. H8.

I haven't played much against her yet.

I don't know.I don't play on pc. I'm assume it's under options.

It's not. I don't think it's possible to turn off Crossplay in Ranked on PC. I've gone through all of the options and I don't see it anywhere. As far as I can tell it's only in exhibition mode. If I'm missing something obvious, I'd be grateful if Keits or someone else could let me know.

Last night I played like a dozen matches against dudes who clearly had way more experience than I did and I'm pretty sure they were all Xbone players because all of the matches took a while to load. I just want more experience against total newbies like me. It really feels like a missed out because I didn't get on the ground floor with the Xbone version years ago and, quite frankly, that sucks.

Killer's are actually good now, as opposed to before where they ranged from good to "what is the punch button?" I hope things iron out in the long run so people don't play against top tier players when they're in the lower brackets though.

I still wish the 1-40 ranks were back tbh. And they could have made it so you play for top 32 like you do now. Oh well.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Am I the only one getting costant crushes (aside from a few minutes ago) whenever I connect to the ranked league and trying looking for someone? And whenever I get into a lobby I get instantly kicked out / other players go out immediately. And I did the online performance analysis, and playing with the optimal graphical setup (so, 720p and everything off XD). It has really intensified in the last hour compared to yesterday or even earlier today

Explains why these masters/level 50s/apprentices/whatever are just mashing buttons.

So far I don't like aganos, he tanks everything and all his attacks are slow and heavy. The rest of the cast so far for me has been manageable.

I found that exhibition mode is where I should probably learn the game at for now, instead of ranked. Seem to be a lot of vets still hanging around the Bronze league.

In exhibition, if I search from qualifier-bronze, I usually can find someone closer to my skill level. I managed to win probably 80% of my matches played in there last night as Orchid. I never expected to play Orchid (personally I don't like her character design, visually), but her playstyle seems to click with me more than anyone else I've tried.

I haven't tried about half of the characters though. I'd really like to play Spinal but he seems fairly complicated right now.

Breaking question: I heard somewhere that I should pay attention to my own characters animation during a combo to see what strength to break. Seeing heavies is fairly easy this way but I have a harder time telling between light and medium. Is this the best way to learn?

Anyways, having a blast with the game so far.

I'm also still having this weird bug where the game runs at 30fps instead of 60. The only way to get the game to launch and stay at 60 is if it's literally the first program I open after restarting my PC. If I launch chrome, or pretty much anything before KI, I need to restart.

I haven't played much against her yet.

The game has been out for 3 years. Its going to happen. Same case if you jump into Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter. People has been playing these franchises for a long time.

As for some of Sabrewulf's matchups, he was my main in both S1 and S2 alongside Riptor. I havent really messed with Sabrewulf this season as Ive been working on Rash, but ill give you a tip on Hisako at least.

You need to train Hisako into looking for grab. Sabrewulf in my opinion is the best mixup character in the game along side Thunder. Sabrewulf has an amazing dash which can dash through your opponents so use it to your advantage. With Hisako especially, use dash through while they're waking up and you can mix that up with grabs, pokes, eclipse, jump ins, or combos, but with Hisako you need to train her to looks for grabs, so use it on her wakeups with a dash through.

And as for Glacius, that is probably Sabrewulf's hardest matchup. Every character tends to have tough matchups and Glacius is the clear counterpick for Sabrewulf, though his new air leap this season is suppose to help him close in on zoners a little better. As i said, i havent used him yet this season, but try using that. Once you get to Glacius dont let up, but watch out for wakeup puddle punch.

Oh and as for his unblockables, that is a trait of his with that stuff hitting you from underneath. You need to jump if you see that stuff as you can see it before it hits you.

Even though I'm still having a ton of trouble with KI exclusive systems, I've gotten to the middle of silver so far with Thunder strictly on fundamentals. His command grab and DP alleviate some of the issues I have with comboing. I think my reactions are too slow to be able to combo break at a high level, though. Disregarding the level of memorization required to identify hundreds of animations, I still can't reliably react to Jago's even though I can recognize what they're doing. Ah well.

Game is a ton of fun though. Now I just need to figure out who's another easy to use character I can pick up. Maybe TJ or Tusk.

I think people are mis-understanding my thoughts on the matter above.

First off, I am not upset being matched against higher tier'ed players if they are legitimately suppose to be matched against me. If they just started the new Ranked Season and are going up the ladder, great. That's fine.

But if they are sitting in a League like Bronze/Silver and on purpose, not moving to another higher level just for the ability of beating on newbs all day long, then I have a problem with that. I can see this error a mile away by the Devs. Heck, when the season resets, I'm going to make sure I don't level up last Bronze to get all the 20 Ranked Wins per character for achievement hunting. A person can abuse the system.

Also, when I lose, I view it as my fault, always. I try to review what I did right and what I did wrong. Being beaten to a perfect pulp is actually a good thing for me.

Yeah, Kim Wu is hell. Worst thing is that I haven't purchased her yet, so I can't play the character to figure out her weakness.

Just a thought but if RAAM does come on June(E3) then wouldn't it feel a bit random if a new character was the last character, it made sense for ARIA since she was the big bad and teased throughout the season.

From the KI board:
TempusChaoti Creative Director

One thing we learned in S2 with having the boss be the last character built is that it's hard to get your story done... when the boss isn't done as a character. Makes working in parallel on the story and the gameplay a bit difficult.

So this season our villain Gargos arrives earlier so we can get more done on Shadow Lords and the story we're telling around his invasion of Earth.

From the KI board:

That makes a lot of sense.

I guess that throws out my theory of Gargos being just some minion for some new SUPER big boss character. I thought they were going to make like a MvC1 Onslaught type character, where you would be 60% of the screen. Heh

As I mentioned before, if Eyedol isn't in Season 3. I wouldn't mind a Season 3.5 that just comes with like 4 characters, possibly another bonus character as well.

Rico is nuts. I love watching him play, at the KI Cup when there was only 1 other Shago player, and then watching how Rico played Shago was amazing. haha.

I just find it always interesting to watch someone who is clearly the best around playing at a level that no one can compete with.

I'd rather get a whole new game instead of S4 to be honest. Not sure if MS would fund that though.

They can fund another Vampire game! I mean, they funded this game. THIS GAME. One game that is just cult followed for a while and then BOOM. EXPLODED out of nowhere.

I bet IG can do the same with other cult franchise. Seeing that capcpom don't care, even for Street Figther it seems.

Killer Instinct ONLY did well because Double Helix poured their heart and soul into season one. Until Microsoft tells me otherwise, this revival was not meant to be developed past season one (seeing Phil Spencer's comments the other day pretty much confirms this). Since the game was so damn good, and Xbox One's launch titles so meh it was very successful. The game was the "Most Popular" for many months after the XBO launch.

I would definitely trust IG with another IP if they love it as much as KI. If not, find a dev that genuinely loves the IP so they can do it justice.

Try to help me understand this, why are there profile + character level 50 players in bronze?

Combination of ranked resets and the fact that it's easy to grind to that level without being a competitive player like others said above me.

It's the reason I always tell new players not be intimidated when they are seeing level 50 player and character levels pop up in ranked. It has little do with how much skill they have although it does at least show they've put a lot of time into the game.
