Gotta love extra storage space.

Maybe I just haven't used chocobos in a while, but I keep failing the timing for the mount unlock quest - the landscape has markers, but it's tricky to check those mid-quest, the visible blue light beams don't seem to quite match the spots in the map, and the /cheering doesn't seem to last long enough...

So I just got an email about a version update with a new battle system and gear. I was under the impression that development had ceased. Is that not the case now? I haven't touched the game in a couple years. Had no real desire to play a game that had no new features coming.

Development of major new content is done. All of the content patched into the game since the end of Rhapsodies has basically expanded on existing battle systems. So expect no new zones, and expect all battle content from here on out to be a riff on geas fete or skirmish style systems.

Thanks for the reply. It's tempting to reinstall and check back in, but for some reason knowing nothing major is coming down the pipeline really diminishes that desire. Last time I played I was a Whirlpool Mask away from finishing getting everything on my MNK to 119. Unfortunately I could never get a group together capable of taking that damn shark down. Oh well, I guess I'll just go to youtube and listen to the Jeuno and Bastok music to get my nostalgia fix.

To further clarify, by major new content, they mean there won't be a further expansion-pack size thing. We just got a new battle event, which nobody was really expecting, so who knows beyond that.

So Oreo is a saint and got me 4 pieces of herculean but now I need to learn how to augment this. Given that I'm chronically low on accuracy I'm pretty much set on maximizing that augment path, but what do I want on top of that? Dual Wield? Triple Attack? Crit? I know the answer is 'depends on what gearset the piece is for' but let's assume I want at the very least to stop whiffing so hard with my melee and want Evisceration to stop hitting like a wet noodle.

For TP, you'd ideally want dex, high acc/atk, and either triple attack or dual wield. I favor triple attack, because dual wield is detrimental when you're in buffed, hasted situations. For WS, you'll want mostly the same thing, just with something like WS damage or crit hit damage instead of TA/DW.

Personally I'd make TP pieces first, since it doesn't matter how much stronger your WS are if you don't have the TP to do them because you can't hit stuff. Plus, a solid TP piece is probably already going to be a pretty decent WS piece in most cases.

1142 acc unbuffed now. It's a start. Now I need better accessories without paying 15.4 mil for ramuh's +1 and those bonecrafted earrings.

That's pretty good - my base TP set is 1117 accuracy unbuffed. You should be hitting stuff just fine now with buffs and, content depending, food.

FFXI failed to advertise that they released another voiced video with Famitsu, this time covering a nice chunk of Rhapsodies with glimpses of the other mission lines leading to its end: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUvQb59m01M

Prishe's VA is different from the one in Dissidia Duodecim, but Iroha having a voice now does help bump her "dissidiability" a bit, at least...

Oddly, most of the previous videos handled in this manner were set to private...

Edit: That Famitsu YT account used to have all of those videos in this playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_uXphfizuc6j54CX8H8peX50LN5kQqSN

Is there some kind of trick to getting windower not to crash on Windows 10. Maybe it's FFXI crashing? Legacy directx drivers and whatnot.

I last played last May to finish up CoP and get to lvl 99. I tried a Dynamis on my own and died, deleveling to 98. I thought that'd be a fitting end to my XI career, but I might have to hop back on for mounts and maybe mess with Aht Urghan stuff

Are those weapons any good, still rocking lame AH katanas :/

Depends on the weapon, but in general yeah they are pretty good. Keep in mind you still need to feed Oboro 150 plutons/beitetsu/boulders to get the base weapon, and then an additional 299 to max the augment. Boulders are the cheapest right now, but it'll still end up costing you a fair amount.

You might want to check out how Oboro's katana matches up to Escha katanas and decide whether it's worth it (also depends how easily you can obtain an Escha katana, of course).

I'm bored with FFXIV, so I'm coming back to finish one of each- REM, and grind out master on my favorite jobs (PUP, SMN, BST). With the Voidwatch campaign, what's the best monster to get HMP? And with max light campaign, you just need to kill the mob, right?

The ninja katana is a 228 skill weapon, so that kind of sucks. The augment is 50 accuracy but that only puts the weapon on-par with other ilvl 119 weapons.

On the other hand, the following jobs have amazing Oboro weapons:

GEO, RUN, BST, COR

lol I got excited at the cost of the items being less now without realising the change in the amount of points you get.

:|

So lame.

Also that Trust selection is stupid, there is no reason in the world they should ever have double ups two consecutive months in a row. :| Wow, ridiculous.

Gimmie Shantoto II at least!

The Oboro BLM staff doesn't look that bad, especially upgraded.

The new item list is probably too short, and doesn't raise confidence that next month's items are going to be worth carrying over more than a few hundred points from the previous campaign. I foresee most people carrying over just enough to buy 2 of the 1500 item points from here on out and just ignoring all the other tiers since the options will be uniformly crappy for people farming anything past T2 Ru'Aun.

On the other hand, I won't miss seeing +2 Skirmish stones at 2k and other obvious schmuck bait cluttering up the top tier of items. I look forward to seeing where residue/dice/stone sacks land, hopefully at 500 points or less since otherwise you'll get fewer sacks/month for your login efforts.

This is my first login campaign.. so I'm trying to figure out how it works.

Every day you login you get points to spend towards exclusive in-game stuff, yes? You just have to log in once per day to get the max amount of points for the month?

Yes. First time you login after JP midnight you will see a message in your log showing you've been credited a certain number of points. The more days within a specific tabulation period you do this, the more you get per login. Typical max points for a full campaign is 4600 pts.

I'd like to think that I alone am responsible for this

They changed the way that points accumulate, so it looks like the new max points will be about 2600-2700 points.

Ah crap, just noticed.

Oh well, not a big deal either way really. First login being 500 now is quite nice I suppose.

Looks like SE adjusted this for two reasons:

1) so they can give away the new "featured" item on the first day of login event with 500 points instead of having players login for a week to get it

2) to help players stay motivated with login's for the remainder of the event, it's no good when a player comes back to the game on the last week of the login event and only obtains 10, 20,30,40 points while everyone's at the 3500+ points

but yeah, the reward pool became less interesting, especially when most of the new stuff is locked out at 1500 points

What the hell...

Beyond Infinity Limit Break fight. Had him at 7%, he Hundred Fists, so I Invincible...his damn attacks do 230+ additional effect each swing which ignore Invincible.

I mean, I guess my fault for not reading enough, but I didn't see that mentioned.

I'm sad.

There's a reason people used to wipe on him like mad back in the day. Farm 2 tails, win easily with trusts. Holler if you need help.

I looked into Arktoi you mentioned last night, that doesn't look too bad. I've been cleaning up old story lines, but may take some time to reive a bit anyway. Once I have the 150 items I need, I can figure out how to delve for the claw. Reive's offer a good cape if I remember correctly, don't they? So, sort of a two for one.

edit: Actually, looks like I can get the claw from log in campaign? Worth grabbing that for 1,500 points, or do the JSE weapon items drop pretty easily?

Sort of hoping they don't introduce new Ambuscade accessories next month. Haven't even finished one yet and there's at least 2 more I want!

Well, they've said that the capes will be back, at least, but beyond that, not much info yet.

The limit on how many upgrade items you can buy for augmenting is the real constraint to me. Finished two capes in the first 3 days or so, bought a couple more to have on hand, and have just been using points for money items now...

As a returning player, what is the best thing to use my Red Mog Pell on? I've already got the Moogle trust. Edit: Maybe Kupofried?

And congrats Talym!

They announced the Linkshell Community beta site is closing down.
I wonder how well ffxiah.com will work when it does...
