Rumor: Horizon: Zero Dawn delayed to early 2017

Why is Sony first party support so abysmal? Last year the only significant titles I remember from them were Bloodborne, Until Dawn, and the Gravity Rush port. This year they've got Uncharted and...Last Guardian maybe?

I don't get it. It's a real good thing they have third party support like Ni Oh, Nier 2, and FF15 (Although several of those might not make this year either) to somewhat make this year better than last for PS4 owners.

Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank and Street Fighter are all in the first 5 months.

I mean, it's not like there's a shortage of games to play, especially when you throw 3rd party in the mix.

I never really understood this idea that Sony and Microsoft need to have this constant trickle of exclusive games coming through the year. Nintendo does because they have no 3rd party support.

But Sony and Microsoft? How much time do you people have on your hands to be able to go through so many games?

The only exclusive PS4 games coming out between now and October are Uncharted 4, Shadow of the Beast (a remake of a game from 1989), and Alienation (a 15-20 dollar or so downloadable only shmup).

Other than those, the only exclusive title so far this year that even approaches notable is a Neptunia game.

Gravity Rush 2, Abzu, The Tomorrow Children and Ni-Oh could all release before October.

Launching exclusives in the fall is dangerous anyway with all the megafranchises hitting. I actually prefer games spread out to other parts of the year, just stop saying they'll be holiday titles if you're not sure.

I did not know Shinobi had such a defense force. You would think years of making shit up on gaf and a track record worse than Pachters industry forecasting would raise questions.

Fucking lol at these posts, typical Sony thread. Its a Q delay, relax, everyone knew it was coming. A single Q.

Lots of pent up hate waiting to be spewed.

As a PS4 owner, what diff does it make if a game is first party or not, if you are trying to justify your purchase you are still getting way more games than the other two consoles, PS4 just so happens to have third party exclusives. Hint, thats a good thing.

Its still just a rumor, but I think almost all of us called bullshit when Sony pretended this was 2016 last year. Whatever, just hope its great and I am there.

MS has too

They've even announced a couple games with CG trailers and canceled them. E3's always a fun show but you have to know what to expect.

Not to the same extent. It ultimately doesn't matter. It was just a point I was making responding to that post almost as if it was something new for Sony. Which it isn't.

Even though I commented "2016 confirmed" or something along those lines during the GDC presentation this year when it showed up and was amped to play it. totally forgot about this game due to Quantum Break & Ratchet & Clank releasing. Not to mention Uncharted 4, Deus Ex Mankind Divided, Final Fantasy XV, and PSVR coming throughout the year, and my large wii u backlog and all the PS4Neo discussion.

So I guess I'm not disappointed by this, plus it means that they get more time to work on it which means it'll be a better game.

I have a gaming PC so I only care about exclusives I'm interested in that are console only.

So far the only games on the PS4 that have fit that definition are Bloodborne, Nights of Azure, and Until Dawn.

Shinobi doesn't know dick, like most of our current and former "insiders". That said, its a reasonable guess.
You're talking about the guy that accurately described this game's setting months before it was announced. No one anyone could have just guessed post-apocalyptic, stone age influenced RPG with robot dinosaurs from the makers of Killzone.

You know, there are other reasonable explanations as to why Horizon would be pushed into 2017 aside from "PS4K oh my god what have you done!" that's being thrown around here. For one, Sony will be pushing PSVR in October as well as the software that will come alongside it. That's going to be a big thing for them.

Two, they've got major 3rd party marketing deals that they need to push aggressively like the new Destiny expansion, new Call of Duty and whatever else they have. Three, Horizon is a huge project for them and it's something they don't want drowned out by other major releases in the same late period of 2016. I already fear for TLG if that makes it out this year.

There are several exclusives slated for 2016. We just don't have dates.

Were there any first party games which were not delayed? Apart from launch window.
Uncharted 4 numerous delays
The Order
Driveclub
GT Sport beta
Ratchet & Clank
Horizon
Not to mention a ton smaller games like Tomorrow Children, No Mans Sky, Shadow of the Beast, Rime.
At this rate I'm not expecting to see Bends, SP, Santa Monica or Polyphony games this generation.

That's fine. I just hope it doesn't run like ass on a regular PS4.

Third-party exclusives aren't good unless there's a good reason why it couldn't be on another system other than money.

More importantly, who knew he had haters? Thats how you know you've made it

Its a big new open world RPG form a dev that never did a RPG so I am sure they are making sure they get it right.

Neo this, Neo fucking that, can we wait until its confirmed until we derail all the threads with this shit?

If this really is being delayed for the Neo treatment then I'll be pretty disappointed. Really hoping a bunch of exclusives don't all become delayed now over this.

Jesus Christ! How come SCE (SIE now) continues to fuck up like this?
Not related to the topic, but just wanted to let you know. I read every one of your posts in Kyle's Neogafcat voice and it's hilarious. Especially when there are exclamation marks and questions involved.

Because they don't like to rush their games out, just to launch during holiday season.
Driveclub was annoying enough and it already got delayed back then.

If stuff needs time, it needs time. If they have to skip holidays, than good. Better than releasing half-baked stuff.
And they are releasing games through the whole year and not holiday season only, like some other companies.

A company launching 5 exclusives in the first 5 months of the year is a fuck up? SFV, MLB, Ratchet, UC4 and then No Man's Sky a month later.

Let their first party take the time needed to make sure these games are good. I'm sure we'll be loving UC4 when it's released with all it's delays and singing it's praises. That said a lot of frustration is confined to forums like these and minor internet outrage.

"Going to look splendid on PS4k though."

Uh huh. So, the PS4 base version looks?

2nd class citizenship, here we come.

This was another good point by Colin on the PS I love you podcast.

It doesn't matter how good the base ps4 game looks.

It will be shit in comparison to the Neo version.

That's not a good point when PC ports of multiplats have existed forever.

Ive often wondered this. Even at school, I didnt have time to play as much games as some people do here. And I did what is commonly known as a "drinkers degree".

NEVER understood. As someone who has owned all consoles every gen since gen 4 or 5, there are so many games i never played due to simply not having the time to do so.

The number of AAA games I've never touched over the last 2 generations simply due to time constraints would fill a full library for multiple consoles.

One of those was on the PS3, two were on the PC.

How so? They still won based on content. No matter how far out the games are.

That's adorable. A FF7 remaster that turned out to be a rope-a-dope, games that are pretty much vaporware as yet, and a kickstarter, lot of big talk small production. Wasn't SFV featured too? What a disappointment that turned out to be too.

It's going to look exactly how you saw it last year. Which looked pretty damn good. Jesus christ at the hyperbole lol. I literally wonder how some of you deal with issues on a daily basis with this thought process.

Incredibly Naive
Sony confirmed on more than one occasion this was 2016. Bin fact Andrew house just recently confirmed horizon and last guardian to be 2016 titles at the vr event.
