Welcome to Android, Apple fans.

Looks like they're getting rid of the headphone jack because "design". If it doesn't actually make the phone thinner then what's the bloody point.

Just bought a pair of Sennheiser bluetooth headphones last week. Jokes on you Apple! You can't make me do what I've already done to myself!

I got 'em because the headphone jack on my 6S+ has been fucking awful since day one and the jack on my Macbook broke a year or so ago and I was sick of that bullshit

no headphone jack is dumb, unless they include a slim adapter that lets you use your existing headphones. No expensive headphones with DACs thanks.

Also the 6 really needs a refresh as its so damn slippery to hold.

an iPhone has a hell of a lot more components to squeeze into a small amount of space than an iPod shuffle. an iPod shuffle doesn't even have a god damn screen

Wow really like every other phone also Apple screens stop about an inch from the bottom of the phone. So what are they using this "massive" space savings for? Also ipods(touch) have screens I have a second gen still that is smaller and thinner than any iPhone so what else you got?

Until I see specs and see the phone in person I can't speak bad about it. However I'm sure glad I grabbed an SE!

The headphone thing is whatever for me.

I love this little thing.

an iPod touch has less components than an iPhone as well, I also didn't say it was literally the screen that takes up the space...

look, I'm not saying they are justified in removing the headphone jack, I'm saying throwing up an image of an iPod shuffle and saying "what about this??" is not a good argument

Bigger disappointment is the 7 having the same design as the 6. I liked how apple changed up the design with each number.

the phones still have way too big of bezels and awful looking antenna lines. There are multiple better looking phones compared to the iPhone now.

You know I could cope with no 3.5mm jack if it was USB Type-C, it's annoying but I'm sure I could get used to it, but Apple can just fuck off with this proprietary bullshit. I'll never buy an iPhone again if this happens.

You know what's notably thinner and smaller than any current iPhone - especially the Plus-size models - and yet still packs in a headphone jack in addition to a display and SoC and battery?

Hmm, I need a new phone and was thinking of waiting for iPhone 7. I'm on a galaxy 4 right now. IPhone 6+ or galaxy 7. I want a headphone jack.

an iPod touch still has a lot more components than an iPhone (cellular, vibration motor, bigger battery, etc.)

The move was made to save on parts cost. Always was. Jacks aren't cheap, and now they have a headphones business.

That and Beats will probably only use lighting cables.

Except that making Beats use Lightning cables would be a terrible decision, given that suddenly they would cease to work with anything other than Apple devices. If you want to sell a ton of expensive headphones, they need to be compatible with more than one make/model of phone.

God bless them for thrusting the future upon a world that would otherwise remain stagnant

Apple is not the smartphone king it used to be. Just because they get rid of the headphone jack doesn't mean others have to follow. If anything they'll offer it as yet another point of difference/superiority.

"Why get an iPhone 7 when you can get a bigger screen, better battery life, a better camera, a faster processor, a better operating system, and a headphone jack, all for hundreds of dollars less?"

The 6+ is too thin. I gotta use a case just to give the damned thing some heft.

I really wish consumers would start bucking the thin trend and demand bigger batteries.

I'm a grown adult. I can hold a thicker phone one handed. It's really not that hard.

As for the headphone jack. I'm telling you most people don't want bluetooth headphone problems.

-Random skipping audio
-Interference
-Audio just not working until you reboot either the headphone or phone
-Bluetooth connection just randomly dropping mid song yet the song doesn't stop playing. Audio now blasts through my phone. On a crowded but quiet train. The giggles from people hearing my secret Taylor Swift fetish hurts my heart :/

I've been using bluetooth headphones (Jaybird) exclusively for years. They are really nice 99% of the time. But every now and then either they or my phone takes a shit when I'm trying to listen to audio.

Most people used to and comfortable with 3.5mm headphones are not gonna wanna go wireless or use a fucking dongle. Or not be able to listen to audio wired while charging their phone.

Can't say I'm not disappointed. Apple is going to be shocked with how bad the sales are if they're saving all their good shit for 2017

My V10 is barely bigger than a 6S+ and sports a bigger screen. I imagine the G4 is smaller than an iphone in all dimensions with the same screen size and has a headphone jack.

This is just a push for fucking beats......I'll stick to my knock off phones. I still want to try a windows phone for the hell of it......but know the app market is still pretty dry :(

Can't wait for the $100 3.5 adapter!

And fuck thin phones if your battery life is shit that barely makes it through a work day.

I keep saying this too. Seriously, we've reached well past the point where we need more thin devices. Give me more fucking battery. A lot more. There's no practical usefulness of a phone being a goddamned nanometer thinner or whatever it ends up being. People use battery.

That's one thing I love about the 6S+. The battery is goddamned immaculate. If it could be slickly thicker with even better battery I'd be in heaven. At this point I wouldn't even think of getting something like the regular iPhone. Battery is terrible and I always just buy a battery case which makes it even more bulky than if it were built in.

Just coming out with a snarky comment about how a comparison is foolish just comes off wrong. Also I think you are overestimating the size of these components. What does the phone have that the touch doesn't? Bigger battery, touch id, these things are all insignificant. Go look at an iPhone 6 tear down and tell me what freeing that space gets them. Either way my picture demonstrates that the headphone jack doesn't in and of itself self contribute to overall device thickness.

And as guess who said the iPhone is bigger than the touch to accomodate these things.

Yup. I got a 6+ at launch and I still love the battery life. Couldn't go back to a non-plus sized iPhone. Dat battery.
