Bye bye apple!
We still really don't why Apple is dumping the jack. Thinness is the current theory from insiders, but I doubt that's the only reason.
an iPhone has a hell of a lot more components to squeeze into a small amount of space than an iPod shuffle. an iPod shuffle doesn't even have a god damn screen
Definitely looks like I'm keeping my 6 plus until 2017 as more and more of these rumors come out.
care to elaborate?Bye bye apple!
They'd just give you crappy headphones for whatever the new format is insteadit's almost as if they might be invested in no longer giving crappy 3.5 headphones away and pushing people towards their premium headphones instead.
Wow really like every other phone also Apple screens stop about an inch from the bottom of the phone. So what are they using this "massive" space savings for? Also ipods have screens I have a second gen still that is smaller and thinner than any iPhone so what else you got?
I don't get it? I thought getting rid of the headphone jack was supposed to make the phone thinner.
Bigger disappointment is the 7 having the same design as the 6. I liked how apple changed up the design with each number.

So how do I keep it on charge and watch videos at my desk?
The move was made to save on parts cost. Always was. Jacks aren't cheap, and now they have a headphones business.

But it is if it's just about the thinness.look, I'm not saying they are justified in removing the headphone jack, I'm saying throwing up an image of an iPod shuffle and saying "what about this??" is not a good argument

Except that they will undoubtedly include Lightning headphones in the box.
You know what's notably thinner and smaller than any current iPhone - especially the Plus-size models - and yet still packs in a headphone jack in addition to a display and SoC and battery?

That and Beats will probably only use lighting cables.
an iPod touch still has a lot more components than an iPhone (cellular, vibration motor, bigger battery, etc.)
God bless them for thrusting the future upon a world that would otherwise remain stagnant
And the market share continues to decline.
Said it before and I'll say it again -- no headphone jack, no sale.
why you say that?Said it before and I'll say it again -- no headphone jack, no sale.
The 6+ is too thin. I gotta use a case just to give the damned thing some heft.
I really wish consumers would start bucking the thin trend and demand bigger batteries.
I'm a grown adult. I can hold a thicker phone one handed. It's really not that hard.
an iPod touch has less components than an iPhone as well, I also didn't say it was literally the screen that takes up the space...

I keep saying this too. Seriously, we've reached well past the point where we need more thin devices. Give me more fucking battery. A lot more. There's no practical usefulness of a phone being a goddamned nanometer thinner or whatever it ends up being. People use battery.
That's one thing I love about the 6S+. The battery is goddamned immaculate. If it could be slickly thicker with even better battery I'd be in heaven. At this point I wouldn't even think of getting something like the regular iPhone. Battery is terrible and I always just buy a battery case which makes it even more bulky than if it were built in.
