Is League of Legends pay to win?

Serious question. Because if it is, I think I'm with what most people consider pay to win.

I don't pay League, but any game where someone can pay money for an advantage over ANYONE else (be it a 1000 hour vet or someone having their very first game), is pay to win.

They should have just kept cosmetics as the only thing you'd have to "buy".

Adding gameplay items in the mix is just scummy, IMO. Unless the guns/boosters are not good, not unlike BO3 where the supply drop weapons are not that great, then it's fine.

So basically they'll be relying on paid vanity items. We already know there's a premium currency so that must be it.
 
Sounds perfect really. I'm hoping at least one of the trials resembles a hoard mode, though I have a feeling that might be the whole point of them. I'm ready.
 
I guess my prediction was right, season pass MP content will probably be about expansion packs. Like vehicles combat. That list is hype though.

I don't get how all this is great news as so many are claiming. Instead of getting everything at launch free we get everything late but free. Have we gotten so used to being screwed over that just the thought of not paying extra for multiplayer is a plus now.

This isnt bad news but it's not good news either.

Free content and a focus on 60 FPS is the best new trend this generation for multi-player games.

People are used to "greedy ND and their less-than-ideal monetisation model in MP".

It sounds like Plunder is going to be one of the game modes dropping after launch, though. Judging by what's available on launch day. Which is weird considering they announced it and showed it off at PAX East... Maybe they're still working on it, I guess?

Amount of content day one sounds a bit low, but as long as the game's fun to play, I'm good. It's been a while since I've played a properly addictive online shooter, really hope UC4 turns out to be one.
 
It's a complete opposite style of what they did for TLOU, which is essentially Pay to Win. There has to be a catch.

There has to be a catch somewhere, and its usually taking a long time to acquire money/gems to buy items.

This is how it will work.

Man only interested in the climax. Must be a real hit with the ladies.

Never had any complaints.

I'm also really glad that opening the chests in the Store no longer gives you duplicate items.

They never did in the UC4 betas either. Are you talking about UC3?

We never got everything at launch for free. In the past we had to pay for powerful weapons and maps over time. Free over a period of time, is always better than paid in any way.

Because we understand how game development works?
 
Those are all the game modes at launch?
No free for all?
No three team deathmatch?
No elimination?
And worst of all... No team objective :(
Hopefully they can add some of those later

Seems silly to have Ranked TDM and unranked TDM playlists tbh. Sure at the start there will be enough players to support the redundancy but down the line people will just play Ranked. I think more people would appreciate a group ranked and a solo queue ranked.

Really hope command is good, because if it's not my bag I'm basically looking at a 1 mode multiplayer (Plunder.) I really hope a rolling objective mode makes it in.

Props on their model and roadmap tho, it looks good.
