DOOM |OT| Rip and tear, until it's done

LOL there's a Tea Bag taunt in Doom.

noooooo, restarting a chapter erases progress u made towards runes and weapon mastery. Fuck, I spent so much time reloading checkpoints to grind those. All progress made, gone like that. Why does restarting missions reset it, but not restarting checkpoints wtf

sorry but you literally told the game to restart all your progress on a level. that's completely normal.

restarting a checkpoint is asking the game to reload your last save in the level. that's also completely normal.

can't believe you would think otherwise lol

Really?

*Post Argent Tower level spoiler*
So Hell is past halfway? Damn that would make this game pretty short rather than the 10 hours or so I imagined it to be.

It's level 5 out of 12 i think.

you'll see, it's paced quite nicely. some levels are bigger too.

If you restart a checkpoint, it keeps all the stuff you did before you reach another checkpoint. So it doesnt erase stuff that you did after the last save. For example, reach a checkpoint, find a group of enemies, kill all enemies except one, reload checkpoint, it keeps all those kills without you reaching another checkpoint

It is a bit short. I completed it in 8 hours.

Thing is though I played on the equivalent of 'Normal' I guess, and I missed a ton of secret rooms and all that.

:( Dang, thanks for the warning, I wont be doing that.

ohhhh i see you what you mean.

i thought it was more strange that if you got a weapon and died you restart the checkpoint with that weapon. i can see your reasoning now.

im sorry =(

Bought this game earlier and kinda surprised at how much fun I'm having with it. Pulling that trigger feels just right.

yeah man. I'm going back through on nightmare and getting all of the secrets.

glad you have enough time to play a game and enjoy it.

Agreed. Sometimes doing this results in me having to move on from titles I would love to spend more time with. But honestly Doom to me is better than Wolf. And that is shocking and worth experiencing again.

Been playing this game for well over 10 hours on Nightmare. I feel like I'm almost at the end. I'll probably be at 17 hours on completion. Been trying to find everything usually leaver the map with 1 or 2 secrets missing. I haven't missed any weapon modules or upgrades for the armor. I also have every challenge completed so far.

Is the game really that easy on anything below UV? I don't see how anyone can beat this game as fast as some people are proclaiming to. Also I don't see how the AI is dumb. These guys hunt you down.

I've enjoyed this more than Dark Souls 3 so far. It's probably the most fun I've had with a game this year. Gunplay is just damn amazing.

Just discovered tapping "q" allows you to do a quick change on the last two weapons you've chosen. Makes for great synergy.

This game is really good. I'm kinda flabbergasted at how poorly they chose to show this damn thing before release.

That is the thought that echoes in the back of my mind while I am playing the game, I mean how do you advertise a game so badly?

So yeah, about what feels like halfway through the
first hell level after that crazy doctor lady opens the rift.

I am at the first roadblock in the game man, this
multiple summoner fight is a bitch. Holy shit. Is the Summoner basically the Archvile? That's what it looks like to me.

Beat the game after 10 hours on Hurt Me Plenty.

Fun as fuck, fast as fuck. Loved every minute!

Should have started on higher difficulty though, game is crazy easy. I never once died in a fight, all my deaths are from falling down XD

Yo....

I know I can't be the only one who did this, but I rented this fuckin game from a redbox last night. Couldn't play it then, cause I was tired as shit from work so I started playing it this morning.

I think I got two hours into it before I ejected the disc, returned that shit back to redbox, drove my ass down to the nearest store and bought it.

This game is like Wolfenstein in that it wasn't on my radar AT ALL, then after trying it out at launch, I fell head over heels.

This game is dope as fuck.

I still think Wolfenstein was better, although Doom does power fantasy shooting better Wolf was no slouch, more varied level design, the game was also loooong and then there was the narrative...absolutely gobsmaking !

To bad they didn't use this engine for Fallout 4.

It's probably not possible considering Fallout requires object permanence and no other engine really does it since no other game requires it. Then you have the fact that the game size will be huge for a game like Fallout 4.

they like to lay it on thick the farther in you get in the game with the demons and the combinations of them

Does Snapmap have the multiplayer weapon limit? And also, can level creators make campaigns, or collections of levels?

Really hoping we get some sort of expansion at some point. I need more of the single player in my life.

Started my second playthrough, on Nightmare this time. Man, it's rough!

I also think this game might have the best first ten minutes of any game. Rip and tear, wake up, shoot some demons, put on some armour, punch a monitor, shoot and rip apart some more demons, get in elevator, crack knuckles and punch voice-com while listening to some sick guitar riffs.

Sets the pacing for the rest of the game perfectly.

Need a 2017 DOOM movie right about now.
You know what...I'd be down for that! I rewatched the old DOOM movie and was surprised how enjoyable it was, even if it didn't seem to really feel like a DOOM movie. lol

I did see Neil Blomkamp raving about the game yesterday.....=D

Um not really sure. I've seen weapons from both the campaign and multiplayer in SnapMap creations.

Kinda sorta on the second point? lol I can only say based on levels I've played that other people have created but I played on a big map that was similar to a campaign level requiring colored key cards to progress and I've played a map where you could teleport from one map and area to another.

Does anyone else doesn't like the new design of the imps? I don't know. They look awful, imo. Lol.

I did not at first but they're kind of growing on me; after enough play I think you disassociate the design from the old one and they become their own thing.

The mancubus is my least favorite design I think, maybe the same thing will happen with them but I miss the low gurgling sounds of the original and the more flesh less cybernetic aesthetic.

I've always been more of a Half-Life guy than a DOOM guy, so it's only natural I still prefer The New Order, but I feel pretty comfortable saying these are the two best singleplayer FPS of the gen.
