Yeah, I don't think I'm going to be able to beat the Worm Queen the way I'm set up right now. She just does too much damage to everyone, and unless I'm willing to grind out 15 Worm Slayers, I don't think I'll be able to win just yet.

Yeah, as far as I can tell all weapons use SP, and all magic uses MP. And this game doesn't tell you when you level up your SP and MP like the later games. I found that out after checking from battles. Just using your spells and techs will increase your maximum points. In later games like SaGa Frontier it always tells you when they increase, just like HP.

I don't know what the benefit would be to equip multiples of the same type, unless it is a special weapon that has a unique property but I haven't come across any yet.

Yeah thats all I could see, a special weapon. I'm just used to having different weapons in case you get low points on one. But since they're all shared, I need to rethink my equipment.

Jesus, Theresa's already down to 2 LP and I've only done the first two caves. She may have to die for the greater good. Also, are the sparking mechanics different in this game or am I just having awful luck?

If it works like in later games, then it's possible that certain skills have a greater chance to spark other related skills. It's hard to say, though. I also have two sword characters that don't really spark very much except for parry type attacks. My character with the bow, on the other hand, has almost a full list of skills already.

It is a good idea to try different skills and see what happens.

EDIT: I have also noticed that a character might have a higher chance to spark on a harder enemy, or maybe a particular type of enemy. For example, James sparks the skill 'Sunder' when attacking the Doppleganger. Otherwise, he did not spark that skill fighting any other monster so far. I have verified that it was the Doppleganger in particular, because I died a few times and he sparked in that battle every time I tried the fight again after a wipe.

so if I'm understanding right, the iOS version is DRM free? Was gonna pick it up on my new phone but Android requiring a check-in each time is mildly unacceptable to me, so maybe I'll stick with my ipad mini if that's actually the case.

She has become quite powerful in my game. If she stays alive long enough, her HP will get high enough to be able to take some hits. She seems really well adjusted to a bow.

I've put her on bow since the tutorial dungeon. She has 2 lp left.

As said, yes it is drm free.

Does this Saga game have scaling like every other game in the series (a BR hide system like ?). Probably yes just want to confirm. Thank you

Well, the localization is pretty terrible. What in katakana reads "mittens," has been romanized as "mitaines."

I don't really care though. I just wanna beat this damn game. Played thorough the jp version three times and never managed to beat it.

The localization feels like 16-32 bit era stuff imo, which is fine for me. I can understand the story just fine and the locations make sense so thats all I need. Havent run into any crashes yet, but I would've liked an E-Manual of sorts.

Mitaines is French though. I don't think it's a mistranslation, just a flavor choice. :p

It's pretty weird to see people complain about "errors" only for some of them to just be SaGa quirks. Like the Kris Knife thing.

Yeah, those are series staple things. I find it comforting, lol.

Anyway, I can't believe I beat the Slime boss in the tower on level 2. I was only doing a little bit of damage over the regen rate each round. Having a line formation really helped. My magic isn't all that advanced either.

Gerard ascended. This game continues to be fantastic. At one point before fighting Kzinnie (sp) I saw these ghost like creatures approach me from his throne. Worried about my resources I tried by my best to avoid them and head straight for the boss. It managed to work!

I wasn't complaining, it was just odd to me. The Kris Knife in SaGa Frontier 2 was a weapon (though it was a quell, too).

Hm. Well I stand corrected. Strange choice, nonetheless.

Haniwa uses Flare.

Game Over.

Hope you saved.

EDIT: Oddly enough, though, how the hell did they get Dad as a helper against Haniwa? You should have Isis by then. And if you're really lucky, you'll get to get owned by the Seven Sword, courtesy of Haniwa.

Yeah, Haniwa are in the final part of the central shrine, right? Dad definitely dropped by Appolo before that.

Re seven sword, so sweet when you get one. Throw it in a robot and use it forever.... (With frequent use of tents/inns).

The typing errors I've seen are straight up grammatical stuff, not localisation quirks. First time I've seen this kind of quality from SE.

It's basically impossible to dodge battles in this version, ugh. I almost want to refund it because its so hard to actually move around accurately.

Yeah, it's soooo strong. It combines the properties of both long swords (more STR = more damage) and rapiers (more AGI = more hits). At 99 and 99, it'll hit for around 7k damage. And if you robot glitch for 255 and 255, you'll hit for over 20k.

EDIT: looking at that pic again, Dad shouldn't have 999 HP. It must be some sort of ROM hack.

Yes I'm not saying the editing isn't poor. Like I pointed out, I only basically watched the intro so far, and I already spotted a spacing error. It was in the second or third line. No way they couldn't catch that if they put effort into doing a text edit.

What I'm saying is that the mistakes people point out in translation tend to be SaGa quirks rather than mistakes, so that part is funny! :)

Why do they refuse to stay in formation? Ive only done the opening part of the game but the woman with the bow gets one shot by everything

(Might need to edit some of this shit in the the OP)

As mentioned before, the way it works is, if you go into encounters when you're dashing, you break formation 100% because it counts as a back attack. You need to go into the settings asap and turn off auto dash. Then only toggle dash when you want to move when enemies are not around.

I played a bit more of this - as mentioned earlier the second dungeon really doesn't mess around!

Does anyone know how I can remove party members? I chatted to someone who said they are an archaeologist, added him to my party, and then realised I couldn't recruit the guy standing next to him, who said they can cast magic...

Oh, other questions!

What does it mean to seal a skill in the skills menu? Is that something I should avoid?

Also: Is it worth wondering around the castle grounds every time you return there in hope of new dialogue? So far everyone seems to be repeating the same things.

Lastly: What's up with the inventory room where you can retrieve items? The guard outside mentions how you can unload your weight using the scale to move faster (or along those lines). So far I've only been using it to fetch SP/MP healing items.

I bought the game, but I'm still in two minds.

I want to support this kind of ports and standard business model, but the game is not worth £17.00: online DRM, crappy tanslation, poor UI, no controller support.

Maybe Sprite swapped with Isis.

I'm having all sorts of good memories about FFL2 now. That's a game that would benefit from a remake. Also, I'm edging toward trying Romancing Saga 2...

Moved on to the second generation. Had an option to start the second generation with a Sagoi Tribesman (sp) which I didn't pick but now I am wondering what exactly the different classes effect.

Playing on Bluestacks with a DS4 controller without any real issues. Enjoying it so far although the localization is pretty bad. I mean it does get the job done, but that is about it.

Speaking of poor localization, are the people in the magic academy supposed to be saying that the more logical the person (higher the number) the better they are at magic? Them saying that the more logical the worse you are at magic doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

The translation is actually pretty BAD but at the same time, every saga game was always vague and never really cohesive in dialogue. Nothing seem to fit each other because how the way the game was made.

Theres one on ds. Its japan only but its been fan translated.

FFL2 is my favorite childhood gb game, i was born too early for the pokemon craze but FFL2 was my Pokemon Crystal.

As for rs2, i kinda screwed myself at the canal fortress. Started the event where i pay tge guy to go in, then left the fortress incomplete. I cant take the boat again, thieves wont help me and the gate boss is too tough for me. I found Dantag, but got handed my ass there too.

Lots of people posting about their progress, but way too few impressions on the game itself. What do you people think of the game so far?

I'm really enjoying it. It's not as overwhelming as Romancing SaGa 1 was as far as having this huge open world that you can go practically anywhere in. It's slightly more linear so far (though you can still decide which order you want to tackle some things in).

And it's obtuse as ever, though I suppose that's part of the charm. The area I went to had a boss that is insanely hard for my character's "levels," so I'll have to come back later.

Does anyone know how to unlock more formations? I've been able to recruit new people outside of Avalon, but haven't been able to get anything.

You need to choose one of the unique classes as your heir during a generation shift then talk to the formation NPC. One of the earlier ones is from the martial artist/monk.

It's good so far. It takes a minute to get used to the touch controls. But I'm enjoying the game. It has the right balance of challenge and exploration so far. Although, I'm not that far in the game.

I'm really interested to see more generational leaps in the game. The large generational progression of the story is something that I found interesting in SaGa Frontier 2, so it will be nice to see that style again.

Just found out this released and bought it. Gonna dig into now.

I liked 3 more than 2 to be honest, but this is still a good game and I want to show support to get an iOS/Android remake of RS3 and encourage more premium mobile games (or at least ports, I still want a mobile port of Tactics Ogre really bad).
