Sigh. that rare time when two games you want are coming out on the same day and you can only get one. Steamworld Heist is assured to be great, but watching House of the Dying Sun footage on Youtube and it looks so good

Command a steam-driven pirate crew in a series of epic tactical shootouts. Inspired by classics like XCOM and Worms, SteamWorld Heist is turn-based strategy with a twist: You manually aim the guns of your robots, allowing for insane skill shots and bullet-bouncing action!

"Ghost" is a metroidvania where two super hackers hire a mysterious agent in order to infiltrate the Nakamura Space Station and steal the greatest electronic secret ever. Of course, the space station will defend itself, which is where the fun begins: the station's defences, with their never-ending arsenal of weapons and artifacts, will have to be destroyed. But the story gets more complicated when the hackers find out about their agent's hidden ties...

Execute the Emperor's final edict: hunt the traitor lords, and bring ruin to their people
House of the Dying Sun is a tactical space shooter that puts you in the cockpit of the Empire's most deadly interceptor and in command of the Harbinger Fleet. Hunt down the enemies of your dying empire and upgrade your warships with new weapons and abilities earned during your campaign of terror.
Waiting for some Gaf impressions on Ghost 1.0 and SteamWorld Heist port.
Whoa! Kickstarter next week too
Kologeon - PC
Copper Dreams needs to happen
Just look at those features
- An isometric 3d world, where every floor in every building can be seamlessly entered, from basement to rooftops
- Utilitarian black-market augmentations like chainsaw or harpoon arms, coiled legs, cloaking rigs, mobile scouting eyes
- Melee weapons and fully-customizable weapons, ranging from stocks and silencers to emp or incendiary rounds
- A deep complex stealth system that takes into account: line of sight and vision cones, noise, shadows, distance, height, crouching, cover, enemy patrols, distractions, hiding spots, last known position, alert levels, taking out lights and cameras, disabling/hacking security systems
- Turn-based combat with abstracted time (ie a thrown grenade takes time to travel its arc)
- Hands-off quest design revolving around intrigue and corporate espionage
- Day/night cycle and passage of time, which influences guard patrols, if you have time to rest, where a mission target will be, etc.
- A keyword-based dialogue system that dynamically creates queries based on information you know and items in your inventory
- Progression system that completely removes XP for actions, instead revolving around mission milestones, finding/buying better hardware, equipment, and cybernetics, and learning new skills from trainers
- A health system with no HP, instead using a combination of Lesser, Greater, and Mortal injuries (bullet graze, melted femur, pierced lung, etc.) that affect your stats, movement, and status of individual body parts
Haha yeah, I still love that title, but it was awful from an SEO perspective, e.g. Google always automatically corrected your search to "role playing game". And some people complained that the title was misleading.Ah you guys changed the name. Last time I saw it, it was called "Roll Playing Game" lol.
No interested in playing the beta but really looking forward to the game when it releases.
Anyone played The Solus Project? It's been in early access for a while. A preview video I saw a few months back looked promising but I'd love to hear some impressions.
Yes, I'm playing and enjoying it quite a bit right now. It's really good from what I've seen so far, but beware that it starts out very harsh and frustrating and you may flip your desk a few times before you get some upgrades going and the game eases up. Good controls (with 360 pad), fun upgrade selection from what I've seen so far, good secrets and I like the bodysnatching mechanic even if it isn't exactly a new idea.Really interested in Ghost 1.0. Anyone put some time into it yesterday?

Also beware of crappy internet humor. Memes and references ahoy!
We're currently running another beta test for Road to Ballhalla, a rhythmic ball-roller with bad puns. This time it covers the full campaign. Here are a few keys (quote to reveal): (I think it's okay to post this here?)
Please only take one if you really intend to play it.Also, would be awesome to get some feedback afterwards, either via PM or the Steam forums. I really want to get the bal(l)ance right.
Hi folks,
Yesterday I made a post over on the Steam Community thread about the launch of our game, The Solus Project (which I've been helping with for about 9 months). It has has finally launched!
The game is a singleplayer wide-linear exploration adventure - with a bunch of survival and puzzle elements thrown in. You're alone on a deserted alien planet, and must scavenge for food and keep yourself warm while pressing ahead through a strange world, avoiding dangers when you can and uncovering secrets. There's a big old sci-fi story which I had a big part in writing - but I'll let you discover that for yourself. Enjoy being alone on a truly alien planet with lots at stake
In a 'Premature Evaluation' of the game, Rock, Paper Shotgun published the clause: 'The Solus Project is absolutely incredible'. That quote may or may not be taken out of context.(Lucky for us itis not.)
It would be beautiful if somebody could make an OT, I don't think it's even on the OT radar (and obviously I'm out).
Please note: The game includes functional VR implementation, but has not finished development or optimisation for VR yet. It is still in-progress. However, it is possible to have an amazing VR experience depending on your set-up and fortitude, so we feel it's appropriate to share with VR options active. It works best as a seated experience. We've only implemented VR in about the last month or so, so Vive controllers and roomscale (hardest to design) are very rudimentary and may cause issues. Don't buy it just for roomscale VR yet.
We had excellent positive reviews on Steam a week ago but that rating is currently being hammered by Vive users going in expecting a finished VR product![]()

I'd say the ones focused on single player turn out the best. The Long Dark, Subnautica, Neo Scavenger, etc. This looks and sounds really cool. I also like that it's singleplayer focused, as there's far too many multiplayer survival games. And thumbs up for controller support.

Oh definitely, but a single player game can have tighter mechanics since it only has to worry about affecting one person, rather than needing to have mechanics that can suit a bunch of people at the same time. Slowly dying from hypothermia while getting lost in a blizzard probably wouldn't be very fun for other players, nor as effectively atmospheric when you can see the markers of your other friends in the distance and have their voices in your earI think it depends on what you're looking for. Minecraft, Terraria and similar can be quite compelling in groups, though personally I prefer singleplayer experiences.

Don't worry, indiegames.com is making a comebackJust wondering where you guys go for your indie news. Indiegames.com used to be my homepage but has gone downhill in recent years, and freeindiegam.es is no longer running. Even @gameswecareabout doesn't post anymore
There must be some good blogs or sites out there, any recommendations?
Don't worry, indiegames.com is making a comeback
I'm writing there now
But for me, my main places are:
RockPaperShotgun
PC Gamer
TIGSource forums
#ScreenshotSaturday, #gamedev, and #indiedev on Twitter
r/gamedev and r/indiegaming on Reddit
OxenfreeCan anyone remember the name of the indie game about a group of teenagers who unleash a ghost portal on an island? I saw the thread on here a while ago but can't remember the name.

Unfortunate news about the Vive reviews souring things. Congrats on launching, hope the best for you guys.

Sure didMore_Badass did you (I think it was you) recently make a thread or post about turn based stealth games? I started reading it earlier but can't find it anywhere now even after much searching.
Appreciate if anyone knows where I'm not looking properly.
Tweets from late May and early JuneAnyone knows what happened to Routine? The last update on the developers site is form December 2015.
No dates we want to talk about just yet, but it will be 2016 that's for sure![]()
We are working super hard at the minute and will show more soonish!![]()
...Things are going well, we have our heads down and working hard!
Pro-tip: always check TwitterWe just want to get the game finished, so updates and trailers are taking a back seat, for now. 2016 for sure <3!
woah thats gorgeous, love the shading effectFabular, what seems to be a pretty odd and awesome cross between Star Control and medieval fantasy, is on its last Kickstarter week, and unfortunately seems like it won't make it. Crossposting here for visibility, although it probably won't be enough. :/
Shamelessly ripping some pics from More_Badass' posts; sorry mobile users, it's for a good cause:
