First ten minutes of Street Fighter V's story mode (Spoilers)

HStallion

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
Well... that looked pretty good! I'm glad the aren't going super serious or what not with it, SF story has never been Shakespeare and I'm glad isn't presenting as anything but what it is. I'm actually looking forward to this and will probably pick the game up and give it a proper go when this comes out. It does seem foolish to launch the game without this kind of content though as I think it would have been FAAAR better received. People like single player content in fighting games but rarely get it, let alone beefy stuff like what the Soul Caliber series used to do with it.

I'm hoping the just keep upgrading this stuff and give a world tour mode where you have crazy 3 on 1 battles or maybe even give us stages with specific gimmicks like one where you're going up stairs or stuff of that nature.

What was Ryu doing with Dhalsim? Training? Searching for inner peace? Also, what's Ken up to? And will Ken discover young Sean in this story mode(since this is pretty much right before SF3)? These two things intrigue me the most. I don't really care about Zombie Nash and his weird dreams.

I think this cinematic story mode should be continued in season 2, have a new 4 hour story that is included with the season pass for season 2.

Anyone else notice the license plate that says SSF V? Dunno if that's been in a previous level or not, haven't payed much attention.

Story mode looks pretty fun and gives me a great excuse to jump back in.

never expected anything less. Lookin forward to it. Just like the MKX story pretty much. Do we know how much fight money we get for completing it?

30k Fight Money for the first time. 50k Fight Money for beating the harder difficulty which is unlocked after the first completion.

Do you really expect for Capcom to get the same 18 English Voice Actors/Voice Actresses that had previously voiced the characters (The 16 default characters plus Alex & Guile) just to dub story mode for the game? That would be tough.

It's possible that the voice acting for story was done alongside the voice acting for the story prologues and fights.

Looks good. Just keep the camera off Ken's face

I'm not familiar with SFV, so I searched Ken's face in Google. Holy shit, he looks AWFUL. Ryu is terrible too, but Ken is on a whole different level. Terrible.

Character models were much better in SFIV.

Anyone know if this will all be real time? Or will most of it be FMV like the other fighters that do this?

The production qualities are way beyond what I expected. I'm actually regretting selling the game right now... quite badly.

This will be a MASSIVE download.

Answering some of the questions that came up here and in earlier threads.

All cutscenes are rendered in real-time using UE4 engine. There are no pre-rendered, pre-recorded footage here.

Per yesterday's announcement, there are five main chapters. Each chapter contains several sub-chapters that's further broken down per event/encounter/cutscene. You'll be able to select any sub-chapter from the chapter select menu upon completion. For example, if you want to experiment with 'Rog or Juri's move set again, you can jump right back into that segment.

Difficulty - there's normal and 'new game plus' hard difficulty mode. The latter will be unlocked after you complete normal difficulty. Normal should be a breeze for anyone experienced in Street Fighter, and this is by design. We wanted everyone, and I mean everyone including first time SF players, to experience the story 'til the end. The production value put into this mode I think is certainly worth it, and we'd want every player to experience it. Though I will say the latter boss encounters can become a bit challenging as the AI difficulty will increase a bit. "The Baby" might struggle here too. (Shhhh...I'm a scrub. I had to retry certain segments like 3 times ^^;)

The real challenge for you guys/gals here will be the extra difficulty mode. The AI ramps up significantly right from the get-go. I would consider this the main mode for experienced SF players. Expect lots of retries!

It's possible that the voice acting for story was done alongside the voice acting for the story prologues and fights.

Correct. VO is selectable between English and Japanese through voice option. It's integrated into the VO menu that is also used for the prologue story.

Really excited man...thank you very much, sounds like a great update.

Will we still be able to do trials/survival/demos for new characters going forward? I'm still struggling to get to 1 million lol...

Tks again and please keep up the good work, this feels like a momentum shift, really good news all around.

Glad to help. Haunts (Neidel) and other guys should be able to clarify other open questions too, though we can only speak to stuff we've announced. Rest assured we have long term plans for SFV. More 'stuff' incoming very soon. Please be excited ^^)

Though we'll have to double-check, I'm fairly certain each new character added to the roster will have their own trials/survival/demos that will allow you to earn additional FM.

So I'm guessing there's no way to make the fights 2/3? Is there a specific reason Character Stories and this mode are one round only?

By the way, will the expanded levels we've seen in screen shot (with Vega facing the Shadaloo goon in NYC) make it into the regular stages (like how you can break into the restaurant in the China stage).

Thanks.

Please add the option of fighting 2/3 rounds in story mode.

Also, for god's sake, make colors easier to unlock.

When the cinematics are in real time, could it be possible to choose the costumes for the Cutscene ? Would be a nice bonus for new game+

Hoping the FM gets retooled or something tbh.

Also, is the plan future DLC Seasons come with another Story Mode Season? If not, please consider it seriously. It will definitely keep people coming back and help with longevity. Looks like an absurd of care went into it.

Cinematics rendered in real time don't take as much space as video files.

There are new character models, objects, and texture assets that will contribute to the overall file size increase. Though I'm not sure sure what the actual breakdown is, the additional English and Japanese VO alone are worth several giga bytes. Final download size is still TBD.

As long as the difficulty isn't Survival Mode levels of BS, it shouldn't be a problem.

Wish the story mode had Chun and Cammy in their story costumes. It makes more sense for Chun to be in uniform if Guile is.

I was thinking the exact same! Leading to:

When the cinematics are in real time, could it be possible to choose the costumes for the Cutscene ? Would be a nice bonus for new game+

This would be cool indeed, for repeat plays especially, and I'd suspect relatively easy to implement (similar to the current story vignettes allowing for this I believe) assuming the cutscenes use no additional trickery / effects and just the raw in-game assets. Edit: it sounds like there might be some additional stuff going on with the models during cutscenes going by the response a few posts above - not sure if this would make choosing costumes impossible though.

So I'm guessing there's no way to make the fights 2/3? Is there a specific reason Character Stories and this mode are one round only?

Came to ask this as well. Would be a waste imo not to see these being implemented in the existing stages like I suspect was the original plan when Bustling Side Street was unveiled.

Great to see someone from Capcom here to inform us by the way - that is much appreciated indeed wbacon!
