Horizon has the potential to be Sony's biggest new IP since TLOU so they'll want to show more of the game at this conference. They have to market it and get people on board and it's only been at one E3 before, so it's not like it's being overexposed. It's coming out in February so showing more of this huge project to millions of viewers is imperative.

Why do you need to see "MORE" on stage at e3? You can see more any other time. E3 should be for new experiences and experiences that need exposure. How exactly do you want them to demo its openworld nature or RPG nature in a 5 minute stage demo? Do we need a shitty Ubi style demo? Horizon getting 3 demos would be more than most games ever get. It's unnecessary.

It's their biggest first-party game now Uncharted 4 is out. E3 is watched by a huge number of people, and the press conferences are just live adverts.

Horizon will be there in force.

Being on-stage also presumably has a multiplier effect to get more eyeballs, and you need that for a new IP. There's nothing "established" about the Horizon brand yet. If the content is good, it's never a bad thing to put it on-stage. The only problem is if the content is weak, because it mars the press conference's overall flow.

I mean, look at TLG for example. I'm personally highly skeptical that the TLG E3 2015 trailer would've gotten 4.9 million views on YouTube if it was randomly revealed outside of the press conference. Those are a lot of eyeballs for a game that a part of the gaming press are treating as a joke material.

Yup.

Also pretty unreasonable to expect any of the big three to have "only new content" for a full 90 minutes. Like.... not gonna happen.

E3 is about selling games, not just new announcements.

Lol we don't know anything. It's their first new ip in awhile, in a new genre we've seen one whole area of gameplay and both demos were the exact same thing just with one being explained and showing off a trap

What I mean is I find it'll more preferable to see Horizon on stands than at Sony conference. So there'll be more space to announce new games.

Sorry if I wasn't too clear.

Those technical wizards at Guerilla Games must be grinning ear to ear with humble feelings of complement, when people acted like that trailer was on the Neo.

Same thing would have happened with UC4, if the Neo rumors were this time last year.

Definitely going to be there in force. People posted pictures of city buses on the E3 route, with full Horizen advert graphics on them.

I would prefer that too.

But if I was Sony, I would think that would be foolish.Horizon is nowhere near fatigue or saturation of too-much-shown yet. If the thirst is still there, I would want to push my big game and give it more eyeballs.

I don't feel we have seen much of the actual gameplay of Horizon aside from the combat mechanics. This is an RPG, so I would like to see the dialogue system, the upgrading system, and some of the narrative flow...It is a new IP so they need to show a bit more at these events so that people can get an idea of how it works.

As it was already said, it was essentially the same thing shown last year. We don't know squat about the game.

What E3 "should" be for is completely different from what E3 "will" be. We already know how this works. The majority of stuff shown will be for stuff we already know about.

Why does it matter? They showed the same thing twice and that was their fault. Stage time is limited.

God of War would be bigger than Horizon.

Also, on the Uncharted 3 point above: the game was totally overexposed by the time it came out. The big setpieces had mostly been leaked or shown and this is a common complaint.

Again, how do you want to see an open world RPG demoed in a few minutes?

Don't forget there will be at least two more shows before it comes out where it is likely to be shown: Gamescom/PGW and PSX.

What people don't understand is that removing horizon does not guarantee more new game announcements. Time is allocated for particular purposes. The 1st and 3rd party sections. The network services. Etc. Horizon is the new big IP. It is getting the Uncharted treatment. We should be happy a game with a non-stereotypical female protagonist is getting this much push and attention

Seriously. I almost wanted to bump the Horizon thread after it was revealed that Neo wouldn't be at E3.

I want to remove Horizon because I've already seen it demoed twice and because I do not think open world RPGs demo well in 5 minute chunks. You're not going to see a demo of someone walking around a town and crafting, but we are likely to see more badazz combat against dino mechz

I think he was referring to Uncharted 4.

E3 2014 : Uncharted 4 Reveal Trailer
PSX 2014 : Uncharted 4 Gameplay Reveal
E3 2015 : Uncharted 4 Set-Piece Reveal

You're overanalyzing this way too much. This is what any publisher is interested in: showing their best content to as many eyes as possible.

There ain't no guarantee everyone wants to see 100% of the content, but the point is to show enough so that as many people as possible are interested in at least something that is shown.

It's not just about what a single individual player wants or "Oh we already showed it we can't show it again." Nope.

Whatever good demos Sony can muster up should be shown. And the sooner they are actually coming the better. But the main idea is show their best stuff.

There's still plenty to show, like fighting while monster riding as we saw a glimpse of in the story trailer.

For many people Horizon was the E3 game of the show last year so there's no way in hell they'd leave it out of this one.

Well you'll all be wrong and people will be saying Horizon is the worst game ever after E3 and you can take that to the bank! I see this in my crystal ball.

That's a fair argument and I don't necessarily disagree with you. I can see how time allocation for the demo can be a problem for the genre. I guess I'm struggling with the idea of people seeing it as taking the place of other new game announcements. GoW4 will get its just due. Nothing will get in the way of that. I'm actually more excited to see GoW4 because I've already pre-ordered Horizon via PSN

How can I trust the man that said TLG was dead and didn't even have the decency to update his avatar to Hillary with laser eyes?

I already have it preordered too. I want to see how they intro God of War because those games have historically had the most ridiculously amazing unveils (the GoW3 unveil was legendary). And I also expect PS VR to get a ton more time than people are allocating in their mockups. 10 min? I think more like a 20-30 minute segment filled with Sony content + third party games. And there will be some BIG third party VR games.

I don't think God of War is bigger than Horizon. Not in the long term, that is.

GoW has no future and a new IP is badly needed from SSM. If Horizon takes off it'll spawn a long healthy franchise for Sony, something they need now that Uncharted & Killzone are done.

Well, that depends on how different/same the "new" GoW is.

There's always a chance for an IP to redefine itself. With a new mythology, God of War's time is now or never.

Hmm shinobi says in that video "I do know that there's other major Final Fantasy projects underway besides what we've seen so far". Which is obvious since SE would have a lot of FF projects in pre-production but if shinobi knows about them they're probably significantly far along. I'm guessing FFXVI and FFVI Remake...

It's definitely those two if you put the pieces together.

There have been several slight teaaes inregards to an VI remake for a while now and XVI has been rumored to be in pre-production for a good amount of time.

Kind of a tight release window. That's a big outlay for PSVR. Little surprised they are both going to be 2017.

I'm predicting we'll see another 10 minute demos of No Man's Sky and Horizon.

And then a teaser trailer for Knack 2.

Maybe a gameplay demo of PS All Stars 2.

Announcement that a spider man gane is happening with zero footage.

A pretty disappointing e3 all around.

That is one long bathroom break for me then. lol

Seriously, though, I can't imagine VR taking up around 1/3 of the presser. That would likely be horrible.

Only way i want to see it on stage is if they announce it will work with PSVR and that has to be like 2-3 minutes tops with a small trailer, no Shaun Murray on stage telling his life story Sony

I think you'll see No Man's Sky again but in a short trailer along with The Last Guardian and GT Sport and whatever else they have in terms of exclusives. Their 2016 lineup is actually pretty damn good.

I think Horizon would benefit from a demo like the Witcher 3 griffin hunt from two years ago.

Basically similar gameplay to the previous demo (ideally with different dinos) but with some context and dialogue choices showing Aloys personality.

I think most of us just mean no Sean Murray on stage it was cute the first time and then it just got old.

I don't think you appreciate how big VR will be for Sony! It's not Wonderbook. They have core studios making games for it!
