Why do you weirdos love Ganon so much. He is a total generic evil conquer the world villain in every game except wind waker. He is team rocket status and I'm tired of seeing this lame fucker at the end of every game, twilight princess being an especially egregious example of him just hijacking the game at the end and having no personality and adding nothing unique to the story. Ghirahim and Zant>>>>>>>ganon

Well...Ganon hasn't been in a new Zelda game since 2006, so he's kinda due.

Not clear where the four dungeon talk stemmed from. Thinking on it, it'd be interesting to have four gigantic dungeons. Talking ambitious 3 to 4 hour Ico-sized beasts that you're not required to complete in one sitting. Or more manageable and realistic, perhaps Boletarian Palace-size. Unlocking shortcuts and gradually conquering the dungeon over time instead of a short affair where one item acts as the solution to various puzzles. Especially with the nonlinear nature, you've the opportunity to allow for multiple solutions to a puzzle depending on your item set.

I said this all along, Nintendo could well steal the show with one game! and I am pretty sure they did.
I am saying game but it was really only a demo!

My god just think the praise this will get when released!

Nintendo you have my attention if you bring this quality to Nx bugger VR!

my name says it all! BRING BACK THE CLASSICS!! and you Nintendo certainly did.!

Anouma you are a legend!

I wish I should share the exitement of everybody. To me, personally, it looks like an average steam crafting/survival/puzzle game with slightly higher production values. At best. A few little moments here and there (like the old man in the beginning – I got Ghibli vibes out of that!) but mostly unbearable emptiness and lack of anything interesting. Don't do this to me, Nintendo!

As for emptiness, this is the only worry I have. As I said, if they can have some interesting NPCs and town, and amazing dungeons, this would be the best Zelda title ever made, and maybe the best action RPG ever made.

Well, it's just an E3 demo.

People are assuming based on the Zelda franchise history that the full game will have a story, NPCS, cities, quests, and large dungeons with puzzles using clever items.

If the final game is just exploring a field, then we can complain.

Great reason. The lame villain you've beaten in 5 games already that has no stakes and inspires no fear is "due"

Strike down this Ganon convention aonuma!

Gannondorf should show up just for the sake of having VA now.

I think the most likely candidate is Fallen Hero timeline. Maybe this Link is actually the Hero of Time and he's awakening after getting defeated by Ganon. Maybe this is set after ALttP and shows how the Zelda world ended up in the state it is in in Zelda 1.

I think considering the game takes so much inspiration from the NES games and the fact that it's about a hyrule that's in decline points to this being the case, don't think it could be part of the other timelines.

Also Link being the one that failed to defeat ganon in this game works with the whole resurrection chamber thing.

It was a rumor I think.

It makes sense that they'd cut down the number of main dungeons when they're focusing resources on this huge world with 100+ mini dungeons/puzzle rooms.

PEOPLE ! I wonder something interesting. Yesterday, we saw on Treehouse live they time stopped a boulder, to shoot it multiple time and give it more throwing forces... now I wonder... would it be possible... to climb the boulder before it launches ? :")

If they keep the physics accurate, Link would have inertia while the boulder wouldn't as soon as the stasis effect wears off; therefore, depending on the angle of Link relative to the boulder's direction, either it passes under him in the style of whisking a tablecloth off and leaving the dishes, or it crashes into him and kills him.

That would be a hilarious death.

i assume you want this part?

This is the dream game I've always hoped for, a game where you are in a world and have to discover everything. I had similar feeling with Super Metroid, where you were dropped in this awesome big planet with no tutorial, no npc, nothing, only you and a world to explore.

My god, I can't explain how much hyped I'm right now, I don't even want to watch all the footage released, after the trailer I'm already sure I'll buy this dayone, probably with NX.

We haven't seen any of this, right? It's at least an unfortunate first impression and I wonder why they chose to present the game that way. I really want to like this, where can I find the stuff you mentioned? The Shrines, for example, looked awful to me, I hope the actual dungeons are nothing like that. I really don't appreciate the design of natural environments vs cold technology in this one.

Ok, maybe Nintendo didn't want to show too much. Well, at least they could have given us a cool entrance to a dungeon or new area on a mountaintop instead of some stone material for crafting.

Some of you expect to much from a demo, Anouma has said there is all the things as in towns etc etc in the full game, plus he has another 7 months at least to carry on polishing and tweaking this.

All we need now is new pilotwings nx, waveracer, fzero, luigis mansion!

Please Nintendo carry on dlc for Mario kart hopefully this rumour was true and we get word of this in part 2 treehouse today.

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.

2 - Ganon is a cloud/mist thing. In the beginning of Wind Waker, the intro, Ganon is depicted as a dark cloud
I know that it is, I'm just saying that the fact that it's

A) Wind Waker timeline

but also

B) In Hyrule

Is extremely interesting. Pre-flood Hyrule never had a hero appear, apparently. So if this Link is pre-flood, then... hmm...

As someone whose favourite games of all time include MGSV and Twilight Princess...

If this game is 60fps on NX it could be the greatest game of all time (yes, even better than Metroid Prime!).

It could also be the mysterious 3rd timeline we've all read so much about but they fail to go back to.

But assuming it's pre-flood (which...I dunno, could be, would have to be if it is), good ending ain't happening.

I always wondered about the 'hero never showed up'. Maybe Link did showed up but never became a legend amongst the people. Maybe he did some things to flood the lands, sweeping out the evil. People just think it was their praying to the Gods.

As someone who despises Ocarina of Time and honestly most Zelda games aside from Minish Cap - this actually had me intrigued. I love games where you have to figure stuff out for yourself without a bunch of tutorials ruining the fun.

Thanks so much for the recap OP!
This really is one of the boldest and most ambitious game design-wise of this E3. No doubt it'll come with its own set of problems to solve but I'm so happy they're going for it.

Maybe Hyrule flooded because Nintendo put too much rain in BotW.

But that's not really an honest representation of what to expect overall and wouldn't you want to find that yourself?

In every playthrough I have seen players make completely different decisions and make different outcomes. That alone is commendable. I understand that you're trying to reach for criticism but it's not really communicated well.

After watching the streams yesterday I found myself being in a state of disbelief for a while. Everything seemed so good that it felt surreal. Anyone else had this?

I wonder what's happening with the hair. Most of the gameplay has Link with a ponytail but the last scene depicts Link without one, and during one of Aonuma's gameplay sessions we see Link with a different hairstyle.

It's probably just more gear-related because you're more than likely going to get the traditional cap but a small part of me hopes it's story-progression related.

The framerate does not look good at all, easily around 20FPS instead of "few" framedrops like the quote in OP suggests.

Maybe they were aiming for the OoT feel.

Could I have the link to this? Really want to hear what they had to say

Not Bosman but Giantbomb spoke briefly about the game. There's some good info in there with some mild story spoilers based off of what was shown but I think the things they reference have been posted in screenshot format in this thread.

To hear performance talk skip to around 14:25 which is pretty close to the end. It's quite short and basically amounts to "Kinda rough in spots but whatever, NX".

My personal thoughts on the history for the game is...

Post Wind Waker or within Wind Waker timeline because Korok can only exist in that one due to environmental circumstances, all the other elements like the similarities to the bridge and what not can still be present in this setting.

My other thought is that this game is going to be some Turn A Gundam shit where all the timelines and history universes converge back into a singular point because every timeline would eventually hit a wall in development by a threat known as Calamity Ganon.

Thus they call upon and resurrect their mythical hero to help bring prosperity back to the kingdom after hundred years of ruin.

Nintendo has exceeded my expectations for this game. They have done wonders on that little machine and will be doing even more on the NX.

The art style is immaculate. There's physics everywhere. Objects aren't merely eye candy. And we've only seen 1%.

Game of the show.

This games lack of gamepad focus and pro Controller support indicates to me that the NX wont have a second screen.

That would be an interesting implication if true.

And by interesting, I mean amazing. That would reinforce the idea that the Wii U's best games are being ported to NX to work on its new controller, and that Wii U games won't be backwards compatible regularly. If true, that might very well mean the NX will have a standard controller.

I am so glad they made the Zelda I have been wanted for years. Thanks for the recap!

Since Wind Waker, exploration in Zelda really hasn't been the same. Not the biggest fan of crafting though, but seems simplified tremendously.

The only thing that worries me is if most of the mechanics are meaningless/you only use once/extremely situational.

Sometimes the issues with games that promise multiple ways of doing things end up being pointless when the most straightforward path is still the most effective. For instance, why stealthily sneak into a goblin camp if it's faster and easier to run up to them and stab them in the face? Or maybe the fire spreading through wind thing is only useful in a very small amount of scenarios. Another one are the "alternative ways to stay warm", some being eating hot food or having a torch. If I already have a warm tunic, why would I do the other ways?

I definitely got that vibe but I'm willing to bet on Nintendo doing something with these mechanics.

This is Nintendo, look at any Mario or Zelda game. Repeating and stacking of mechanics has always been how they do things.

It's pretty easy to think up of situations you're worried about even. What if there is a moment in the game where there are really tough or unbeatable enemies that you can avoid if you sneak? What if there's a mountain peak so cold you'll need both food and a warm tunic?

I think it stemmed from the fact that when marking your map there are 4-5 unidentifiable icons. Some are assuming those are dungeon markers.

I know today was all about Zelda, but seeing this game just reaffirmed why I love Nintendo games so much. And Every Nintendo A-Team is working on new games for the NX Launch. I'm excited
