-The mother is a critical part of the story
omg, They are going to do their own R+L=J aren't they?

I didnt care for GoW1. 2 and 3 were leagues better. Especially 3 which had amazing combat.

A fantastic interview

A few tidbits:
-You may visit some of the 9 realms
-He mentions 15,20 and 100 enemies on screen
-Cory brought back the original team that worked on God Of War 1 they are all back.
-No morality system and no branching in the story
-The mother is a critical part of the story

Visiting some of the nine realms? GoW 1 team? Mother being plot relevant? yesyesyessssss

ETA: Great to see Cory talking about SotC, and some interesting details about the troll from the demo.

Cory brought back the original team that worked on God Of War 1 they are all back.
That's big, very exciting

15 to 100 enemies on screen at once. I dont see how anyone can say this isnt going to be a hack-n-slash. Over-the-shoulder is suited for 1 v 1 or 1 v few, so there's clearly much more to the combat. That should please people who were worried about the scale and scope of the battles

-No QTE sex mini game that has you pressing triangle to confirm cummies

The Nine Worlds in Norse Mythology

In Norse Mythology, there are nine worlds, and these are divided into three levels.

1.In the first level is Asgard, the home of the Aesir.

2. Vanaheim, the home of the Vanir.

3. Alfheim, the home of the Light Elves.

In the middle is Midgard "Middle Earth", the home of the Humans. Midgard is connected to Asgard by Bifrost "The Rainbow Bridge".

4. Jotunheim, the home of the Giants.

5. Svartalfheim, the home of the Dark Elves.

6. Nidavellir, the home of the Dwarfs.

7. Niflheim is to the north, somewhere in Niflheim under the ground is 8. Helheim home of the dead.

9. Muspelheim is to the south, it is the home of the fire Giants and Demons.

Midgard is one of the realms.

So it's

Asgard
Vanaheim
Alfheim
Midgard
Svartalfheim
Nidavellir
Jotunheim

For the final two you have to make a choice. Since it's a bit vague as to whether Hel or Niflheim ("Helheim" is not a thing, it's a nickname only used to differentiate between the place and the goddess it's named after) are separate or one is inside the other, it's not clear if they're both counted or only one. It's also not totally clear which is the "realm" proper, but most agree it's Niflheim. If you don't count Hel, then you include Muspelheim. If you include Hel, you take Musphelheim off. Most lists decide to do the former. So the list usually looks like:

Asgard
Vanaheim
Alfheim
Midgard
Svartalfheim
Nidavellir
Jotunheim
Muspelheim
Niflheim

There is no list where Midgard is not one of the Nine Realms.

Oh man, those interviewers were not good. I had to turn it off after a while. The constant attempts to be funny and witty at the expense of interesting, respectful conversation. The poor listening. You could tell Cory was not feeling it. I don't blame him.

I'm really interested in where the mom went. I'm glad its not just a 'we offed her so we could have a son and a dad relationship'. She might still show up as an important figure in the game.

I WANT TO SEE "FAMILY OF WAR".

I also want to see clear comparisons and references to Kratos's old family in comparison to his new one.

I can't get enough of the angle they are showing, a clear deconstruction of the semi one dimensional Kratos we've known throughout GOW

Thank goodness for no sex minigame. Wouldn't fit the tone the game seems to be going for at all.

Guys, its still rated M for strong sexual content. Relax.

I actually highly doubt that's the case. There's no way the game has been rated by the ESRB yet. It's very likely not even content-finished at this point.

I actually like that there is no morality system or branching story. Just give me a plot and baddies to kill.

Kinda OT.... but has anyone yet translated what the troll says in the shown gameplay? I tried to find it via google earlier but wasn't able to.

I think people are jumping to conclusions regarding the gameplay.

As for the sex, that would be funny:
"Wait here son, daddy will be back in a moment".

After what we've seen of the game I'm not sure how anyone was expecting it to be included.

This all sounds good. I had expected it to be open world to some extent (similar to the Darksiders games), but I'm really pleased that they're keeping it a linear tightly-paced adventure, and I look forward to seeing more of the plot and this different Kratos. Wonder who the mother will be.

Pretty much.
Why would they take it out.

It's clearly a different and more mature Kratos, and I feel like that kind of nonsense has no place with the tone that the demo portrayed.

Its not open world but its much more open then other GOW games.

I sorta half-jokingly suggested earlier they could do something more 'artsy' with a sex minigame here, but honestly removing it is for the best. Kratos is trying to be presented as an actual character now, not some early 90s comic book edgelord.

Why?! Would have been the perfect chance to teach his son about the birds and the bees. Now the kid will grow up to be a loser.

Hats off to Cory that the most exciting thing I'm looking forward to it, is finding out who the Mother.

Oh, and that whole 'throw the axe, leave it until the end of the game and summon it again' mechanic.
