It's 3am, I've caught over 30 Pokemon, evolved one, and have claimed my first gym. This is addictive as fuck, and I'm so glad I have the day off work. #teammystic

I FOUND A NINETAILS NEARBY AND WENT TO THE BATHROOM AND IT'S GONE NOW

It's not under my "nearby" anymore. If I leave and jog outside for an hour can I hopefully get it back on my Nearby again?

Do you see arrows pointing on the left or right? that would mean the pokemon is off camera and you need to turn to face it in AR mode.

Most of the time when I point the camera towards the pokemon like there will be flashes on both sides and the pokeball will jump. Does that mean keep moving forward to find the pokemon?

Hmm so in the bottom right, there's the Nearby icon with a list of pokemon. Does that mean that these pokemon are likely to be found near me?

No those are actually pokemon near you. If you can see the pokemon thats ones you have seen or caught. Grey ones are new.

Soo.. Are there any social features, or identifying other users in Go? Won't be able to really sink my teeth into this until tomorrow morning.

You really only interact with users through gyms. You choose a team at Level 5, then you can take over any unclaimed gyms by leaving one of your Pokemon there to defend it If a gym a claimed, you can either fight whichever Pokemon that person left to take it over for your team. If your team already owns it, you can leave additional Pokemon to reinforce your control over that gym.

It means those Pokemon are near you right now. One footstep means they're very close. Three means they are farther away, but still relatively close (can be 300 feet away or so from my experience).

So I just noticed that a bunch of my highest level pokemon are at 1hp. It took me a minute to realize, but when I took a gym a couple hours ago I kept clicking the fight button and was battling random pokemon. I was kicking their ass, yet every battle I won said I lost.

And then it clicked... I was fighting my own pokemon. Why in the world is than an option? I got 0xp from every fight

At the moment, yeah. The lower the footprint amount, the closer they are I think.

Ah, thank you guys! I see a charmander and growlithe about 3 footsteps away from me, but it's 12:30am. x(

Nope. For something that was promised to be a social experience, this is very solitary.

Has nothing to do with Apple. Niantic are staggering the launch

Maybe that's why. It would be a real shithead thing to do to have worldwide competitive social aspects, but then give numerous regions a head start on others.

I'm in Japan (downloaded it with my US account) and I keep getting the grey pokeball spinning on the top left. I assume it's not connecting properly or something? Oh well, can't really spend much time on this as I'm at work, so I'll give it a try when I get home.

Hey Mik, I'm your french ex-coworker from youknowwhere :p

We can't play in Japan right now because Niantic blocked everything here. I could manage to play yesterday morning with the australian app for 3 hours only, could catch a bunch of pokemons, almost got to level 5, and JUST when I got to Hakata Station's 3 gyms everything just disappeared around me :( So yeah we just have to wait for the official launch in Japan...

By the way the japanese are raging right now like "WTF Japan is the Pokemon country why can those fucking foreigners play the game and not us ?!" haha.

It is kinda messed up heh.

EDIT: What do blue bars mean next to attacks?

It's the amount of gauge needed to perform the attack. Attack 2 of all pokemon is performed by holding then releasing once the charge attack is full. Keep in mind, you need to generate power gauge by attacking with Attack 1 first.

So it's basically a Pokemon's "Super Move".

Hey! :) Yeah, I know who you are :p

I see, locking everything kinda makes sense because they probably don't want everybody to mess with the servers, but hopefully they release the game soon here and not next week :(
Glad to know that it's not just a problem with my connection or anything like that.

And yeah, what's the deal with Japan not being available from the beginning. Seriously...

Walked to the gym and hatched a Pikachu!
One question though, do I have to keep the app running in order to hatch eggs? Can I just leave it in background (IOS)? The battery can't handle such thing very long...

From what I understand, the first attack is the basic attack you perform by tapping. Once you build enough blue bars, you can tap and hold to perform the second attack.

It's the amount of gauge needed to perform the attack. Attack 2 of all pokemon is performed by holding then releasing once the charge attack is full. Keep in mind, you need to generate power gauge by attacking with Attack 1 first.

Ah got it.

I need to go to one but im barely level 4

Level doesn't matter with the egg, sooner the better. I got both of my eggs before level 5 and I'm only a fraction of a km from hatching each. I did pay roughly a dollar or so for a second incubator (which you should put the egg in right after obtaining), but one of your free key items is an infinite incubator.

EDIT: Actually, someone correct me if I'm wrong. I just thought about the possibility of eggs hatching into stronger pokemon the higher level you are

It is going to be massive. This is a bigger hit than Miitomo already.

Miitomo's initial success is a joke compared to Pokémon Go. Even on facebook there's A LOT of people talking about it. Friends and family there wich didn't even knew they were aware of Pokémon and now they are posting screenshots of their captured pokemon and stuff. IT'S THAT CRAZY!

Oh snap, ima see if I can get to one in the morning

So the more the better or the less the better? I noticed one bar attack usually has higher power.

My roommate just caught this thing, and she went to challenge the gym with it. I'm jealous :(

That Tentacruel is a perfect example. It's one long bar. Takes ages to fill, but it's much stronger as compensation. I have an Ivysaur that's the same with Solar Beam. Smack them around for a bit with Vine Whip, then go for the kill with Solar Beam.

Right now in Aus, the meta is ~500 CP (in Sydney anyway). My Seaking is putting in work.

So before evolving, sorta like in the main series, is it best to build CP as high as you can? I'm assuming the moves are rng from a set of possible?

Yep, it's not based on your account but on your territory.
Even an australian guy coming to Japan wouldn't be able to get anything right now.
Hopefully we'll get it this evening or during the night. I REALLY need to claim all those gyms I spotted yesterday haha.

Unfortunately this is the one piece of info I don't know. I'm trying to test this with several Pidgeys, but I've run out of Stardust.

Finally got into my Pokémon.com account. Guess I'm going to start over since there doesn't seem to be a way to associate your Google account with it.
