Is there some trick to getting passed the loading screen after putting in my login information? I was able to play a quick bit yesterday when I first started, but haven't been able to login since.

The Trainer Club system is down so all things related to that: Pokémon GO, Pokémon Global Link, Pokémon Trading Card Game Online etc. are down

Is there an easy way to mass Transfer Pokemon? I have so many Pidgey and other such commons clogging up my box, and doing them one by one will take like 30 minutes at this point, haha.

No, the GO battle system is simple and terrible. It's classic smartphone gaming affair of just repeatedly tapping and sometimes dodging. There's no skill involved.
Correct. Alternatively, as I was saying, the mainline games are a wonderful battle system held up by a skeleton of nonsense.

I've got battle simulators if I really want to pokemon battle, this does everything else better for me compared to the main series.

You should be able to use more than one?
I have had this happen to me, i was trying to buff a gym this morning and it only allowed me to have 1 pokemon, when you got to tyhe selection screen before battling only 1 slot was shown.

Every time before that i have had multiple so im not sure exactly what the issue is.

Better story? Better world? Better social aspects?

Ah, guess it's my own dumb fault for not using Google for a login.

Yeah, I regret it too :/

Been assured it won't be too long but it has been 17 hours that the PTC has been down so far...

When Training you use 1 Pokémon. When battling an opposing team's gym you can use 6

Sans spamming the log on? Not really. Tried playing today but couldn't connect. When I finally did, I couldn't load any info on the map. When I tried fighting at the gym, the connection stopped mid battle. On my way home, it finally started working but I had to quit because I was already out for an hour trying to get it working. (Using a Google login btw)

Ok so maybe is a bug or a feature not totally clear for now...
Thx! :D

Meanwhile I have got a Magnemite during work coffee break! :)

Got it downloaded as I wait for my bus. GPS was unable to find my location, even though I caught a bulbasaur. Hoping I'll have better luck when I try this again in Pretoria as I begin my hunt for Pokemon!

When it comes to story we're comparing crap to nothing, so that's pretty darn subjective I'd say. Many people would certainly prefer having something, even if it is garbage, over what is objectively nothing, so no matter what somebody would prefer I wouldn't judge them too hashly either way.

As far as world and social aspects, yes, I can easily say that this game has the mainline series beat. By a significant margin for both, honestly. Checked out cool places I'd have never explored and met people I'd never have met without this app. Playing pokemon has never done that for me before.

Yay what to take my post out of context lol! I was saying you can meet people in real life by playing the main games as well.

No I took your post entirely in context maybe you just presented it poorly.

Listen I'm tired of talking to you so I'm just going to stop responding now I hope you have a nice day.

This game has next to no actual social aspects though. It has no multiplayer, no actual player interaction.

This game is the epitome of barebones. It has many issues. The actual gameplay is thin. The only actual fun from this game is from stuff you could do anyway...it just sort of guides you

This is coming from someone who managed to find ways to enjoy Pokémon Dash. I am probably one of the biggest Pokémon fans in the world, and I'm disappointed by this game and I didn't have high hopes to begin with

It encourages people to meet up by rewarding going to monuments and the like.

Social interaction is built in to the game's dna.

I'd say this game has more player interaction than any game I've ever seen.

Social interaction is built in to the game's dna.

But the game has no actual interaction between players. Bumping into people who are also playing is not player interaction.

You can't credit the game as having player interaction just because it gives you an opening to say hello to a stranger. That's not how it works.

Earlier in the night, I made a few stops on the way home and took over, I think, 3 gyms. At least one had that connection problem I mentioned at the end of the battle and I was stuck. Had to restart again and move on.

Then I caught a Vulpix!

I figured this might be the case since it was a same colour gym.

I suppose it makes it tougher to build up the rep of a gym unless you have crappy pokemon at the gym and you have a great one to battle them.

Wonder why they rushed it then. A rushed product is going to hurt it more in the long run.

The recent games adding the PSS have more social interaction than this does.

And saying it's better than mainline Pokémon because it's helped you find new areas of your neighbourhood, really? I mean, in that case would any spinoff of any game ever that made you walk somewhere be better than the main game?

In game, maybe not, but it sure as hell encourages actual talking between players who inevitably meet up at pokestops, gyms, or just where rare pokemon spawn. I get that not everyone is a fan of this particular type of interaction, but I assure you that it is just as legitimate, even if it is harder to track.

*Edit*

kk to respond to your edit perhaps it doesn't include player interaction but it sure as fuck encourages it like no game I've ever seen.

Can we agree to that much? That even if the game doesn't force you to meet up with others, it facilitates interaction excellently?

So, found a Lure Module. I'm next to a PokéStop, trying to use the Module but always gives me the message, that this Item can't be used here. Bug?

Honestly I'm not the best at presenting arguments I'll admit that, it's one of my faults. I can tell you have stock in this though so I'll leave you alone lol.

I always get your pre-edit posts I'm not going back and changing mine now I'm sorry.

If the game had any form of player interaction for those circumstances such as trading or battling, I'd agree that it could be great. However, it does not and it's fallacious to say that it has good player interaction just because you bump into other people playing.

I think perhaps your definition - and a lot of other people's - of what makes a game qualify as "good" might need to change in the coming years.

I'm not sure I even understand what you mean here. Are you implying all games are going to become AR-based walkathons?

You have to click on the stop and then click on the small empty rectangle above the picture and it gives you the option to slot the module in.

I just used my free one from leveling up and had to work it out myself :)

So it doesn't have good player interaction, it just encourages player interaction by it's design. Now I understand what you are saying.

I am sorry it is late so my English may not be perfect apologies for any word choices of mine you felt were improper.

This is the best Pokemon game I've played in years. Having the game on phones as opposed to specific systems makes the social aspects so much better, I can't wait until trading is added. As much as I love battling my favorite part of Pokemon has always been exploring and collecting which Go nails.

No, I was politely implying that there are more than one type of game made for one type of person and that the vast majority of people who play this game haven't touched a mainline Pokemon game in years since the series has stagnated for the last decade with minor adjustments in each installment. The definitions of "player interaction" and "social aspects" are going to change as mobile games come into their own. It's fairly inevitable given the userbase of mobile devices compared to dedicated gaming devices that focus will shift to mobile and new breakthroughs in design will happen.

This game probably isn't the end of that line of thought, but it's certainly a good indicator of what could be possible in the future with a more refined version.

For reference, when the game works I am enjoying it. I already think this game is "good", so I am definitely not hating on it. What I don't think it does, yet, is beat the mainline games when it comes to world, battles, player interaction, story, presentation, all that stuff. And given we won't see a mainline Pokémon on mobile unless something goes drastically wrong for Nintendo, I think that will be the case for a while yet.

No they aren't

They have different combat because this is a spin-off game. Battles in main games can go on for up to an hour. This is a mobile title so needs to be streamlined

The game wouldn't be very fun with traditional combat. The main draw is that it's a real-world, exploration game. Finding new things and moving on, while allowing other players to find the same things and have just as much fun with them is important. Putting in the actual battle system would bog down each encounter and put more emphasis on skill than the social aspect.

I'm glad you feel that way. I agree with you. ;P

Think a braindead Punch-Out!!

Hey now, discovering new monsters is up there too. But yeah its not automated, just really simplified.

So it's a fitness app?

I'm kind of tired and not making my points well. I'm not comparing this to the mainline games, because I think it's a futile comparison. They aren't even in the same genre. This is a relatively new type of game. I think Pokemon Go will end up being the trend-setter for the outlook of mobile games in the near future. Its success, even if it ends up being short-lived (which is most likely), is something investors and game designers are going to take note of and think, "How can we make this work?"

Heh, seems like the Trainer Club is more problem than anything.

Yeah. They finally put a note on their support about it
You may be receiving 502, 503, or "Oops!" error messages when attempting to sign up for a Pokémon Trainer Club account, or when attempting to sign in to the web site or a game that uses your Pokémon Trainer Club account.
This is a known issue and we are working to quickly resolve it.
Thank you!

I was out hunting pokemon with my son, on his shitty android pad. He loves it and Im hating myself for being on a windows phone right now but there is another problem.

We cant spot pokemons in AR mode. I get a audio clue that I guess means im aiming the camera at the pokemon but I cant see it. I can still catch them without using AR but I think it would be more fun to catch them using AR. Any one got a fix?
