KINGSGLAIVE: Final Fantasy XV Thread: Everything for the future king

I can present old art too, that doesn't necessarily mean it's new or up to date, you also remember that Visual Works showed off that Work in progress CGI of Altissia when we already saw the final product. This isn't something new, they didn't discard the art but the events do not play out like they used to. They can still use Versus art for XV.

I can promise you Noctis will not wear the suit in the intro of game.

Did you watch the video? He specifically talks about physically based rendering and designing Insomnia's buildings and art around it. They weren't using PBR for Versus. More importantly, Naora wasn't an artist on Versus XIII, he was brought in for XV after having worked with Tabata on Type-0.

http://www.guidelive.com/video-game...-director-yusuke-naora-smu-guildhall-xv-type0

I've been involved with the title ever since it was switched over to XV a couple of years ago

Those who saw it said that he's a bit of a whimp and doesn't give the "main villain" vibes too much, but this doesn't prove anything to me. Like, if anything to me it looks like they're building him in a specific way and actually grow as a villain throughout Kingsglaive and XV, with his jaded view of Luna and Lucis royal family after the Tenebrae accident, as well as being power hungry so much to try to use the ring's magic (but he does not get killed). Regarding Ardyn, they simply say he's a scheming character, same as Iedolas, but i think it's too early to judge.

Doesn't Ravus lose an arm and his eyesight, though? I can't see him functioning as much of a threat at this point. I'm also thinking about Tabata's emphasis for fans to "keep a close eye on Ardyn" and his comparison of Ardyn to Kefka.

Yes, I'm aware their is a chapter 0.
However it will not involve Noctis escaping, Lucis as we know he is safely sent away before any of that.
A few speculations I have are, it will do an Uncharted type of opening where they show off a later point of the game and then take us back to the start in chapter 1, which I wouldn't like.
Or we control Regis fighting elsewhere, but it will most likely be a set piece of sorts not an exploration segment.

My feeling is that chapter 0 is going to be a flashback for the wedding arrangement of Noctis and Luna's before shit went down. So you could introduce suit Noctis and Driver-San again.. But I wouldn't be surprised if the Dawn trailer is a segment of chapter 0 in which you get to see those gods, regis and whatnot.. A very linear segment.

Nah looks like his arm just gets really fucked up, don't know about the eyesight but even in the 2013 15 trailer the white hooded man eyes indicated he was also blind. Famitsu also said keep a close eye on Ravus in the game and out of all the characters we still haven't seen Ravus ingame model.

Maybe he gets an automail arm?

Thats cool, but the events will not play out like it is in the Concept art I showed.
For example this CGI doesn't even exist in the game anymore but it was shown when the game was XV. So believe me, it doesn't happen.

The opening sequences of Noctis in a suit in Insomnia has been removed.

Who said Naora's art is from the beginning of the game though?

Whenever it took place, it's cut. Because the only time we go back to Insomnia is confirmed towards the end of the game where is seems like the characters have aged and got their Kingsglaive outfits.

In the concept art the city is at peace, in the afrojack trailer it is destroyed.

Any guesses for chapter 0?

My speculation based on what we know, BIG BIG KINGSGLAIVE SPOILERS

I was wondering if Brotherhood and Kingsglaive are giving us hints at what the game's Chapter 0 is going to be about, in all of them we'll control Regis i guess:
A)
Noctis childhood incident (Regis saving Noctis from the Marilith)
BROTHERHOOD SPOILER
B)
Tenebrae invasion (Regis running away with Noctis and Luna)
KINGSGLAIVE SPOILER
C)
Insomnia invasion (Regis fighting together with Clarus, un-winnable boss fight against Glauca that ends with Regis death)
KINGSGLAIVE SPOILERS
I think the last one is the most plausible, and it fits with Tabata's words that the prologue contains a boss battle that we can't win like FFII.

I think they already hinted at what Chapter 0 really is with one of the concept artworks they released last year.
Regis, Clarus, Cid and Cor against the Nifhleim army, maybe during the Tenebrae invasion so they can introduce Luna and Kid Noctis.

That concept art is probably right from the morning/early day just before the peace treaty discussions, much like the clip you linked to with Noctis in the car. It was never implied we'd get tons of leisurely exploration of Insomnia. All the gameplay we've ever seen of Versus XIII is of when the invasion is just about to start (the party scenes, the scenes in the negotiation room) or when it's already happening (all the fighting & chaos inside buildings, on the streets of Insomnia & elsewhere).

This all sounds better than pushing the car in a desert and finding out about the invasion off a newspaper. Chapter 0 has a lot to live up to.

MGS5 is a great example of why traditional cinematic cutscenes are still essential to narrative driven games.

That said, I don't ever want something like XIII again with 9 hours of cutscenes and found around each corner in the map. (and even then alot of important things still in the data log).

I've always felt XV would be the game that gets the balance right!

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.

I hope you are right.

Isn't that extremely good for a limited release in selected theatres?

I personally think it's good.

According to the article, about 22K people watched it (from 44 theatres, I think) and grossed about $300K US(?)

Japanese fans thought the movie bombed. lol. I think they have too high of an expectation for what it is :p

It did. That's an abysmal number, if your math is correct. Opening weekend is always the biggest, too.

Presumably they want to make most of their money from home video sales though, and of course the game is the priority.

Nomura was still on board at that time.

Does that imply that the scene was removed after Tabata became the only director? That is such a shame, the party scene was something I really looked forward to seeing in the game back then

EDIT: to clarify, I always assumed that Tabata had already been the "main" director in 2012 when he was appointed co-director. I always assumed that Nomura was still on board to figuratively pass on the torch and kind of give his blessings to the plans on the changes to the game

There is a version of the party scene in Kingsglaive, so maybe you'll enjoy that one.

I really hope so! It's kinda a shame that Noctis is (potentially) no longer in it.

I wish I could see the movie in theatre but unfortunately I live in Canada. it seems like even within the US there's very limited viewings

Japanese don't go out to watch movies often, they actually think it's too expensive and would rather buy things on DVD and watch it at home.

FFXV was held at 44 theatres and imagine around 50-100 people per theatre and 10 screenings over the weekend. Not too bad for limited release.

It isn't the number that really matters, even if it was 22,000 people everyone universally loved it and some americans were there too tweeting out how good it was and talking about it on other forums.

Currently FFXV has 250k pre-orders and is currently the highest pre-ordered game in NA. (PS4/Xbone)

/

and 3rd most pre-ordered in japan with a whoping 180k pre orders.
