Re-reading a bit and this is what I get:
So yeah. The sex thing was odd, but it was the Other (the Turtle) who either stopped giving them strength, or was unable to, once Pennywise was defeated for the first time. Kind of makes him seem like an asshole who abandoned them.
The point, felt but not grasped, was simply that the fellowship was ending . . it was ending and they were still in the dark. That Other had, through their friendship, perhaps been able to make the something more than children. But they were becoming children again. Bill felt it as much as the others.
