Dead Rising being remastered for PS4/XBO/PC, DR2 and OTR to PS4/XBO

It would sure be nice to play this without the awful load times that the 360 version had. Honestly, I wouldn't even mind if that was the only thing that was improved aside from the resolution, as the game already looked pretty nice (and, arguably, better looking than its immediate sequels thanks to MT Framework).

Agreed. Fuck that timer. With that huge mall, and all to do in it, why make me rush it. I always fucking hated that.

You could always just ignore the timer and fuck around until the 72 hours are over. You're just gonna get the bad ending that way.

Nice I was itching to play this recently but found out it wasn't on PC. Will pick it up and platinum it. 1 is my favourite DR game. If I had to rate them imo it would be:

1 > OTR > CW > CZ > 3 = 2

Because that's the fucking point. Dead Rising is a game that's supposed to be unfair, it's supposed to kill you, you're supposed to miss shit, and you're supposed to replay it multiple times to see different endings.

Dead Rising is not supposed to be a tourism game that funnels you down a critical path so you see everything on your first playthrough. Almost every single gameplay system is built around the idea of New Game+, and New Game++, and New Game+++++++. That's what makes Dead Rising cool, and taking that away sort of destroys everything that game is trying to do.

People who want the timer gone from Dead Rising should just go and play Dynasty Warriors

like way to kill a central part of the game design because you don't like it, lmao.

The timer was literally the only thing that made 1&2 memorable bar the amount of zombies in the game. 3 was utter trash without it and 1&2 would be trash without it.

Get rid of the timer and Im there day1
You and everyone else asking for this are a bunch of weirdos.

The timer is the central mechanic for the game. Even ignoring that you can't just strip it out because of how intertwined it is into the game, it doesn't make sense to strip it out. If you take it out, what the hell is left?

Holy shit, that's the entire damn point.

Get off your completionist OCD and enjoy the game the way it was designed.

I hated the convict boss fight. Killed them and had no ammo so took survivors back to base and went to get more ammo and went outside again... Boom they had respawned...
Would buy again though. I really need to get DR3

Some people don't understand the game even to this day. You are Phil Connors and the game is Groundhog Day 2. The whole point is you relive the same time period over and over building up a knowledge of everything that happens in the mall and what time it happens. Then you run to catch the kid falling out of the tree, head over to jack up the old ladies' car and arrive on schedule to give the mayor the Heimlich Maneuver.

Some people just want content tourism rather than an unique experience you can't find anywhere else.

Take the Heavy Machinegun. IIRC they don't spawn if you have it

Yeah. Replays are essential. It was made by the Dragon Quarter team and that game is still misunderstood as well.

I'm not going to get my hopes high. This is such an unlikely candidate for remaster.

I don't understand these kind of posts.
DR even without the timers, is entirely different to DW games. Having fodder type of enemies don't mean it's the same thing, the games have entirely different set of mechanics. :0

I think the best way to please both sides, is by adding a sandbox mode, with no time limit.

Well, it is.

Without the timer Dead Rising becomes like any other open world-ish game out there. A first playthrough in DR is mostly to learn about the area, leveling up your stats and saving survivors or occasionally defeating a psychopath. With a second playthrough however... the real game starts. It's all about time management and making the right choices. Like in any zombie apocalypse situation really.

isn't dr4 already a re-imagining of dr1? or is it an actual sequel? thought i had heard the former.

Re-imagining/semi-return sequel.

DR1 wasn't set in Christmas time. DR4 is.

So if they're doing a port to PS4 (and 720), that means a PC release of DR1 is likely. I would seriously buy that a high price since DR1 was the best in the series for me.

The folk getting mad at the suggestion that the timer be removed remind me of the anti-easy mode folk for Souls games.

I don't see why having options is bad for the consumer. I don't care either way but this is the same attitude that "git gud" comes from. I mean, who cares if someone doesn't want to play with a timer?

EDIT: I have opinion, therefore I am dumb and stupid, so shout me down.

I don't see the options when someone says "Remove the timer".

It's already been explained multiple times by multiple posters in this thread why you can't just rip it out. Might look up and read those posts instead of shouting tired--and frankly, irrelevant--platitudes.

This is GAF, I thought I was following a proud tradition of shouting tired--and frankly, irrelevant platitudes.

Finally! I lost my copy of Dead Rising 1 for Xbox 360 years ago, never bothered to purchase it again. So this is very welcoming! It's also the best DR, never could get into the others.

The timer is great! It's fun mastering the timing and pacing, eventually you'll even ignore the timer and it'll be like a daily routine.

Hopefully they don't change much from the original game, other than fancy new visuals effects. I'd definitely buy it again to get the whole series on Steam.

Nah man. Getting that "Save all survivors" achievements was one of the most intense playthroughs ever for me and it would not have been the same with no timer.
Having an option for that wouldn't have stopped you from getting the same experience. It just means someone else would've played it differently,

As far as I'm concerned, I'd like a sandbox mode better. One where I don't have to worry about my live depleting over time, or a timer. Preferably, one that filled with random encounters of psychos, that way, I get a somewhat different play experience.

PLEASE BE TRUE.

Don't get rid of the timer. Perhaps allow for it to be disabled, but don't get rid of it.

If they got rid of the timer, it'd be like removing the entire point of the game!

I think the timer was implemented the best in DR1 out of all the DRs.
It's understandable why some want it gone or toggle disable-able though.

Eh, it's not like they're missing much with DR3 anyways. Based on what we've seen of 4, they seem to be locking 3 in a closet and trying to forget it ever happened.

A shame because I think poor Nick deserves another go around. His baffled innocence is such a breath of fresh air in a genre filled to the brim with grim machismo.

Wait... they're pretending 3 never happened?

I LOVED 3 and not just because the protagonist was an Hispanic male who had the same last name as me.... which is in itself, crazy

Seriously though, completely agree and that bums me out if true :(
