Dead Rising being remastered for PS4/XBO/PC, DR2 and OTR to PS4/XBO

Given the size of their Library , Capcom could as well become a Remaster House.

And fans would even appreciate them more that way rotfl.

Great news. Hope it'll hit PC as well.

Did they change anything gameplay related in the RE5 remaster?

Sounded like RE5 Gold was just "RE5: Game of the Year Edition" where it comes with all of the DLC. I've heard save files between RE5 and RE5G are even cross-compatible.

Eh, it's not like they're missing much with DR3 anyways. Based on what we've seen of 4, they seem to be locking 3 in a closet and trying to forget it ever happened.

A shame because I think poor Nick deserves another go around. His baffled innocence is such a breath of fresh air in a genre filled to the brim with grim machismo.

i dunno, i'm getting pretty sick of his reaction in every cutscene being "YOU'RE... A MURRRDERRRERRRRRR! YOU JUST... KILLLEED THAT GUYYYYY!"

like he'd be fun if he was with Frank or Chuck, that'd be interesting

Wow, some of those trophies look awful the way I remember the game. Were all in the originale too?

Unless I'm gravely mistaken, all the trophies here are a match for the 360 achievements. The list has always been geared towards multiple playthroughs, especially since Frank the Pimp requires you to play a very, very specific way as there are very few female survivors in this one compared to the sequels.

Was just browsing
(Also there's a Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 trophy list up too)

How do you remove a timer from a game when the whole story and every side mission is based around that timer?

In an ideal world, they would design the game properly from the ground up, based around timers and the inability to do everything in your first run. Then, they would simply take that, well crafted well paced game and then give people a separate mode where everything is identical except for the fail-states and other differences that a Timer imposes.

Unfortunately, the real world is far from ideal and making a game really good only to strip the main feature makes no financial sense when they can just skip out on the feature from the start and then half-ass it right before the launch of the game.

That's how they went with DR3 and it's the way they decided to go with DR4.

As much as it sucks, Capcom is never going to put the time and effort into designing the game the right way and building it around the timer system now that the know they can skip all that work and just shoehorn in a timer because there will be people that have never played a Dead Rising before that are willing to defend such an awful decision because they have no idea what makes Dead Rising the awesome/unique franchise it used to be.

There is no "choice" here. There's your side arguing to strip a series of its mechanical identity so they will play it, and there's the people who actually like dead rising games telling you it's better to just play something else rather than ruin the game.

Dead Rising 3 tried to split the difference and fell flat on its face in the process, learning the hard lesson that you can't design two games at once.

You've been 100% spot on in this whole thread and the idiots that want to ruin Dead Rising should go find some other generic zombie game to dumb down and ruin.

I ask 'cause I sure as shit don't want to fumble about with those dumb-ass survivors again.

Well that would be amazing. Even after finishing the game three times on 360, Ill gladly rebuy it for ps4 if the remaster is good :D

Notmally I'd just not post but in defence of those saying 'remove the timer'. The 'Overall' timer was, admittedly, the least of this game's problems.

The simultaneous mission clocks were far worse. Then you had walk-in boss fights, a single save slot, weapons breaking far too soon, TRAVERSAL items breaking, health restore items too scattered, useless NPC AI, a Gamecube control RE4 scheme on a 360 pad, scarce firearms and fucking Otis.

Add all of that to the Overall timer, however, and it's obvious why they don't like it.

It's the most frustratingly designed game I've ever played.

Why can't everything be simple and easy?

Reading this thread all.

GAF been coddled too much.

Yessss! Capcom's best game last gen, it better be a solid remaster!

You must be confused. This is thread's about Dead Rising, not Dragon's Dogma, sadly.

RE5 and RE5 Gold on PS3? They actually patched the original version to convert original RE5 saves to RE5 Gold saves. I'm pretty sure it ended up fucking up my save actually, like I lost all my unlockables or something, because I remember being pissed when it happened.

I'm guessing this didn't age well.

Played DR1 for the first time 2 years ago. It was a lot of fun after accepting the timer and looking up some tricks.(where to find good weapons, good books etc.)

I think the unique concept of the game still holds pretty well up to this day.

I'd pick it up on PC if it came with DR2-style survivor improvements, and modes that cover the Wii and mobile port content.

I'm guessing this didn't age well.

The first Dead Rising is one of those games that are so mechanically sound and well put together that I honestly don't think it will ever age.

I did a replay of it as soon as DR4 was announced and it's even better than I remember thanks to how easy/dumbed down modern games have become.

It's still fun, and really challenging (I will get you "Saint" achievement! one day...), but it is a little weird going back to aiming your weapon with the left stick, aiming your camera with the right stick, and firing a gun with a face button. I think if it just had an updated control method like OTR or Case West (from what I'm remembering here, it was all aiming right stick, fire with right trigger) I think it'd feel a lot better to play.

I honestly have no doubts that they'll at least have control options.

No.

They confirmed that it was in the same region, but different areas and time period.

Yeah, I remember they were very clear at E3 at an interview with I think IGN: it's not a reboot/not a remake/a straight-up sequel. Supposedly it takes place 1 year after DR3, so that might still be canon.
I hope so. It was a great game. Best launch game this generation.

McCaffrey:...this is continuing the story that has been laid out in the first three games?

Joel Nichols (Studio Director, Capcom Vancouver): Yes. That's why we have our hashtag 'Frank's Back'

Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition and Resident Evil 0 HD were great remasters, too.
DMC4 SE had no anti-aliasing, texture sharpening and one step forward, two steps back adjustments to surface shaders and lighting.

REmake and RE0 are inexplicably capped to 30fps.

It's cringe worthy, that's what it is.

This is no different than someone saying Dark Souls is a bad game because they keep running in and dying rather than learning how the game works.

If a game is hard, you practice until you succeed, you don't ruin the game by removing the challenges just so you can pat yourself on the back and say "I did it!"

There are plenty of games that are built from the ground up to be relaxing/linear experiences, trying to force that into a game where it doesn't belong breaks the fundamental design of a game like this just as it would break a relaxing/linear game by adding in timers and time based events.

Not every game has to appeal to 100% of people and everytime that a game has ever tried it's had to compromise in ways that leave both sides unhappy.

If it's a remaster I'd be very interested. If it's a straight port/'PS3 classic' I don't need it since I still have my 360 copy.

Trophies look the same as the achievements on the 360 after a quick scan, so I'm guessing they're not changing much.

I don't think it's the same thing. And people asking for timer option =/= wanting it to be removed. I feel like a toggle wouldn't affect your enjoyment. But it might get someone new interested in the series, which would improve the odds of getting another entry.

Personaly I'd rather get a new mode. A sandbox mode, with randomly generated encounters for psychos, no time limit, or depleting health. But that might take some work, and I don't know how much budget they got for the game.

I think we're getting ahead of ourselves, it hasn't been confirmed yet, could very well be an error.

I do wonder, would most prefer the game not be remastered if it were made without the timer.

is this a git gud post? :0

Have you read this thread? People complaing about lack of health pickups and the save points being too far.

Dead Rising had some unique and interesting gameplay elements, if a bit unpolished. Of course, these need to be changed to accommodate the modern gamer who expects games to automatically walk through the game without requiring forethought and planning on routes and time requirements.

So is DR1 coming or is this just some vaguely stuff and could be Dead Rising 4 instead?

Also those who doesn't want timers for DR1 can play DR3 and 4 and let DR1 be

It's Dead Rising 1, why would Dead Rising 4 have PS4 trophies a year before it'll release?

I wouldn't worry. When's the last time a remaster got that much reworking? It will be a straight up remaster, if it's real.

I'm just hoping for new mode. 🙏🙏🙏

People asking for a timer option don't realize that the only way they can get it is to have it not be a part of the game in the first place.

They would never go through all the work of designing the game around the timer if they had even the slightest intention to remove it. They would simply opt to build the game without a timer and then shoe-horn one in at the last second which is exactly what they did with DR3.

For all the people asking for it to be removed, you can just ignore it and have the same exact experience.

People that want the timer because they realize it's the entire point of the game can't just ignore the fact that it isn't present in a game like DR3 because the lack of it negatively impacts the entire structure of the game as well as the moment to moment gameplay that makes the series unique.

Timer whiners are going to ruin this series. I didn't think DR3 was that bad, but it certainly lost a lot of the appeal of the franchise and at a certain point was just a generic zombie button masher.

I really want a modern port of DR1 for PC so this news is exciting. If DR4 continues down the path 3 did then at least a fresh playthrough of DR1 will be nice.

Going from memory, those look exactly the same as the achievements for the game. Just who is Exophase? Why would they get this Scoop? Is it out of the realm of possibility that they just copy pasted the achievements? They look nearly the same. They just don't have the bit at the beginning that says that particular trophy needs to be done in one playthrough.
CLEAN-UP! REGISTER SIX!
Don't cut me off like that, it's rude!

The achievement pics are different. Original Dead Rising just had character faces as achievement pics.
