Nintendo Classic Mini - NES Coming on November 11th (30 NES games)

Depends on the hardware. Speculation is that the hardware could be using left over 2DS bits, so an extra bit of hardware trickery may be too much for the ol' armv11 at it's clock rate. It could also be that Nintendo or Konami are holding a little back for a possible NES mini 2... Or they simply decided that 30 would be the hard limit for games in this device and decided that CV2 would be more worthy of a revisit.
I think 2 definitely has more... notoriety than 3.

Whether that makes it worth revisiting or not is up to whoever.

Maybe they thought it'd look weird to have 1 and 3, and like you said there was a hard limit.

I almost feel like they're gonna hold back stock for Amazon/Best Buy/Target for Black Friday since this basically launches 2 weeks before Thanksgiving.

Still, I'd prefer to just preorder it to at least have it secured, though technically it's at a binge buy price point.

Considering Dr. Mario isn't out on 3DS or Wii, I'd say Wii U bits honestly.

Anecdotal I know but a woman in her late 50's at work says her 2 daughters, 32 &36, want one each, one for her nephew and one for her mother, 79, who loved playing pacman with her aforementioned granddaughters.

Edit: My point is that I think this will sell tons.

Why buy this when you can carve a case out of soap for your Raspberry pi.

I'll do this if I want to wash my pits with it.

Castlevania III is already on 3DS VC as well and fully playable on 2DS with accurate sound. It's definitely not a technical issue why it's not included.

Gradius Gaiden also has 2 players ;-)

Yes, Gaiden has 2 player alternating as in each player takes a turn on their own until they lose a life. We're talking about 2 player simultaneous where both players are on the screen at the same time together and outside of Lifeforce, Gradius V is the only game in the named Gradius franchise to feature that type of proper 2 player co-op mode.

It's rather obvious.

The device has save states. And the NES' hardware parts aren't in production anymore. The controllers are also Wii accessories.

It's possible to do save states on a stock NES with an Everdrive, but your point remains, it's 100% unquestionably emulation.

Save states are possible too via the Mega Everdrive - but it's glitchy as fuck and locked me out of games more often than not when I tried it.

but besides the point, yes - this is an emulation device.

Are PAL Virtual console games 50hz still? If so I suspect these will be too.

Maybe I shouldn't pre-order this thing.

All I know is that this was said earlier in the thread.
Probably mentioned already but Computerbase.de got confirmation from Nintendo that games will run at 60Hz in Europe: https://www.computerbase.de/2016-07/nintendo-classic-mini-neuauflage-nes/

Sorry if it's been posted, but Best Buy has their page up

Still not available yet, though...

Game lists seem to be the same across the board so it's probably the same "box" (hence no adapter in EU) everywhere. I would guess it's 60hz but then again, who the hell knows.

Amazon has had their page up for at least a day.

Are these selling out in other countries? I know it will eventually in the US just not sure if it will immediately.

Yeah, I've been f5ing that page for a while. I just know the US Amazon page has been posted at least twice.

The messed up thing is that they'd have to put in all that extra work to get the PAL roms on it. It's like "stop working! You're good! Just release the North American version...."

Last I heard, Gamestop is retrieving allocation numbers for preorders, so I suspect every retailer in the US is as well currently. Or they won't take any and it'll be the biggest clusterfuck of the holiday season. NOA sure does like to announce stuff and leave thier devout customers hanging, though.
