Star Wars Battlefront Offline Mode comes July 20th

Great news I guess. Will be good to play in local co-op with my partner but it's a shame it's not every game mode. Would love to be able to play heroes vs villains or drop zone with bots. Baby steps, I guess.

Nah its for the people that didnt bother with some research before buying a game that was heavily focused on PvP MP.
And probably for the people that cant deal with real players shooting back online.

General Battlefront complaining and hating will go back to normal after this releases.

Multiple people have told you multiple times that this isn't the case, especially for the second reason you have.

The whole "they're bad" reason why is just not true.

Cool. Might actually pick the game up now.

Even if a shooter doesn't have a campaign story mode, I think it should at least have SOME kind of offline or singleplayer mode. I think shooter developers need to start looking at other ways to do SP gameplay that maybe aren't as expensive as doing a story with a ton of cut scenes, levels, and voice actors. I wouldn't mind if some SP games went back to a more arcade format. When designed right it could potentially get hours and hours of fun out of people the same way multiplayer gets hours and hours of fun out of people.

Personally I want there to be more survival/horde modes with options to balance them for solo play. Putting Firefight back into Halo 5 made me more interested in the game than ever. A good non--shooter example would be Event Battle from Smash Bros.

On PS4 I get into large scale games in seconds and they are always full.
I enjoyed it so much on PS4 I purchased it on PC when I got my new gaming PC about 2 months ago now.
I used EA's refund option to return it within two hours. It took me 12 minutes to find a game on PC and the one I did was all people who had clearly been playing the game since launch. And as a new player without the DLC and/or Season Pass, it was not fun at all. Nevermind it took forever to even find what appeared to be that one game being played.

Damn that sucks. I had fun during the beta but I dunno, feels like something changed at release and I too got a refund on the Deluxe edition, Origin came through nicely.

Still just to mess about this is ok, I don't want to reinstall any Battlefield games cause I know I'll transition to the new one when it is out so feels the right choice to jump on Battlefront again, it's 19.99€ right now but there's the DLC too...
Adding bots sounds good but I'm hoping they're decent lol.

In addition to this, on day one there was also a series of one-off missions and a horde style mode you could play offline.

One of the developers said on Twitter that the AI won't be playing as heroes. AI will only fly planes in FS.

Chewbacca and the majority of other heroes shouldnt be a fucking DLC.

This is boosheet.

Offline mode is welcome I wonder if it's due to declining audiences. Can you unlock challeges offline?

The console player count is still very healthy. It's only the PC player base that's consistently tumbled so I wouldn't say it's because of a decline whatsoever.

In fact, this may sound overtly optimistic of me, but I think is trying to be as earnest as possible in terms of wanting to dish out more content and such. It's just that they tend to fumble a lot as they do that.

I was thinking about getting the game on PC but you guys say the servers are empty? So the PS4 version is the superior one when it comes to playerbase, right? The problem is that the game is very expensive on PS4 :/

When does it go live?

Tomorrow, I asked a dev what time, he replied he has no idea when it is going live.

What's a Battlefront?

Seriously though, people still play this game?

On PC? Don't lie to me.

I guess this is good, but they totally fucked this game up from word go not having offline mode in at launch and then with the ridiculously priced season pass / DLC maps splitting the player base.

I guess local split screen could be fun for a few playthrus with the fam tho... so maybe I'll check it out.

Dude, I think this is me done until September, then even longer if the DLC maps have instant action too...

Have they stated if you can earn XP this way?

Sometimes I am just in a rut and I figure playing against some bots might help me out of that and I'd like to get some XP while we are at it.

Are Walker Assault and Fighter Squadron the only two modes that can be played offline? I admit, I was hoping for Supremacy.

I picked this game up a couple weeks ago and have been having a blast, but an offline bot mode should have absolutely been in at launch, in my opinion.

I don think so, no.

EDIT: from twitter
Hi, a few quick answers: MP hand is available directly. AI has same health as you. Offline content has no connection to your MP progression.

But this is compiled from dev replies on twitter

Granting players the option of playing offline against bots in solo missions — or, alternatively, buddying up with a partner via split-screen — additional tidbits have surfaced via Reddit, revealing that Skirmish will be accessible across all of the base maps for both Walker Assault and Fighter Squadron.

You can play all base Walker Assault and Fighter Squadron maps as well as the free maps.

You can’t choose a skin but rebels get randomly generated skins each match (female, male, species), while imperials can only be helmeted stormtroopers. (It isn’t confirmed if Stormtrooper skins will change randomly or not, I have tried confirming on Twitter but can’t seem to get a response).

You can play as a hero in both modes but the AI cannot play as heroes in Walker Assault but can play as them in Fighter Squadron.

AI is smart, can disable objectives, shoot AT-ATs and AT-STs, etc.

AI have star card hands that are capable of multiple tasks, such as fighting an AT-ST with a smart rocket or using ion shot on an AT-AT.

You will have all weapons in the game to use and can choose from two well balanced star card hands, Endor apparently has a different hand, the third hand can be unlocked by completing Skirmish on Hard mode and allows you to use multiplayer cards. You can use all heroes in Skirmish (including new ones if you own them).

Additionally, according to DICE Designer David Spinner, it appears the Skirmish mode will feature online co-op. Replying to one fan via Twitter, Spinner noted that the new mode can be enjoyed online for those on PC and, presumably, consoles.

I don't see the connection here. What game ever has let offline progress versus bots carry over to online progress versus people? Why were you even expecting it?

Since it is a real grind to progress, there is no reason to play it since you will make no progress to unlocking weapons/upgrades/skins.

Got it, so no point in ever playing this. Thanks!

Would you expect Battlefield or CoD to allow this?

there is no reason to play it since you will make no progress to unlocking weapons/upgrades/skins.

People have been asking for this since day one. There are plenty of reasons to play it offline, if you want to know why then read the rest of the thread.

Its not a grind at all. Weapon and Star Card unlocks stop at rank 32. Most of the good stuff you'll get by rank 11. The best gun in the game (E-11) is unlocked from the start.

This mode is for people that want to play the game without the bullshit that comes with multi-player.

If you want multi-player you are going to have to grind it out, and if you are pissed about that, then you are just acknowledging the multi-player is a pile crap.

Too bad you can't co-op against bots with friends online.

You can

@ViktorALundberg @leftweet can you play Skirmish, with just one friend, over the internet on XB1? On same side and on opposing sides?

Viktor Lundberg ‏@ViktorALundberg 35m35 minutes ago
@leftweet you can play both sides together or against each other

All base maps? So the DLC maps will not be supported by offline modes?! The fuck

Ask yourself this

Would EA allow this mode to be developed out of the goodness of their heart for vanilla Battlefront, or will they allow this mode to be playable in the $50 season pass??

No dev will answer the question. The only acknowledgement has been from EA twiter saying "more skirmish news to follow" when asked.

You can happily bet your left nut you will be doing the trench run in single-player come September, or whenever it drops.

Well Outer Rim doesn't have maps to support WA or FS anyways. Bespin is obviously another story. I'm sure they are aiming to make it happen. I see this as a beta of sorts where I'm sure they're add more modes and develop the future DLC with Skirmish in mind

Great news! I just hope EA don't ruin this too. All we need now is some offline custom map/mod support like the original Battlefront games. That'd be the dream!

I just hope the AI is decent. The bots in Battlefield 1942, Vietman and Battlefield 2 are some of the worst I`ve seen.
