#Trumpyourself - Is this going to backfire enormously for Hillary?

...and that, kids, was the first time I sucked a dick for crack
I did a search for this and found no thread about this. But the Clinton campaign put together this: https://www.hillaryclinton.com/trumpyourself/

It's basically social media app that'll impose a picture of the Donald on your FB profile pic, with some captions of what he thinks of you.

Why would the Clinton campaign even do this? I looked at it, and it's fairly funny...but all it does is expose Trump to more and more people who are going to have a positive reaction and laugh when they see this on their FB timeline, and then go and generate one themselves.

Is it me or does this seem really counter productive for the campaign?

I think the gameplan is they want as many people as possible to know about Trump, get scared of him as President, and vote against him.

It's actually kind of an interesting election in that both sides are trying to get the electorate to vote against the other guy, except I think the only person who doesn't know this is Trump.

According to CNN only people who make a donation to her campaign can use it so I'm gonna guess its use will largely be limited to Hillary supporters who will post these images in the context Hillary wants rather than just an "omg so funny" meme.

I used it on my phone just fine. I wasn't even asked to donate, before or after (which Hillary's campaign does in a lot of other cases).

The Clinton campaign really likes to put Trump's name out there. They shouldn't.

peeps really need to abandon the idea that any publicity is good publicity, it isn't

It usually is though. The Streisand Effect wouldn't be as big a thing if that wasn't the case. Trump got 2 billion worth of free media and he used that to his advantage. People keep taking the troll bait, not realizing that it plays right into Trump's strategy.

...

The Striesand effect is caused by someone trying to avoid bad publicity and ending up creating more bad publicity than they would have had if they kept their mouths shut. The fuck does that prove all publicity is good publicity?

Streisand Effect is an information sharing phenomenon, not a marketing phenomenon. Trump's explosion into popularity was effective because there already was an audience for a candidate like him. Folks didn't decide he was a great candidate by reading leftwards articles about how dangerous his politics are, or how violently offensive he is in his speeches.
