Oh really? That's good news. I was worried it was "unobtainable", or something that could take hundreds of hours.

Question is, can I play through something like this for potentially 100 hours...
You can stay on a single planet for as long as you want. 1,000 hours? Sure. Go ahead. No one is stopping you. It depends on what you want to do.

I actually want to get to the center of the galaxy so I'll be doing the objective plus some exploring.

But if you wanted to, you don't even have to leave the first planet you visited. It could literally be as big as Earth.

Can someone do a bullet point breakdown of how this game plays out and what you actually do? Like what is the point of the game? Is it a consistent on-line word, so if I land on a Planet and I call it Hawk269, will anyone else land on that planet and see that I was there first? Do you see or encounter other players as you play the game?

The game on the surface looks intriguing but been looking for detail breakdown. It seems like a massive, almost intimidating type of game.

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.

The OT of this game is going to be such a mess. Haha

Anyone else hear on the bombcast Jeff, very very quickly throw out a quip against this game that there's nothing to do??? Wonder what the reviews will be like

I was like Oh wait, hrmm, ummmmmm

I dunno, I think a lot of those people will realize that there are actually things to do when they actually play the game.

Would it be worth it if someone that is in this thread or a few make a thread titled "Everything you need to know about NMS" type of thread? This would relieve a bit of the O/T thread and be a source. Kind of like a FAQ Thread for the game since I know there are a lot of people that seem to have a lot of questions on the game.

I'm wondering which type of ship will have the most room for in system boost fuel, or if that's just a matter of upgrades and all ship types can carry the same amount. I plan to attempt a manual flight between two relatively close solar systems and look for things in between systems, both confirmed by Sean at one point.

Lol don't get lost, he said his team hasn't even tried it yet because of the time it would take depending on the solar system and the fact one wrong turn could get you lost.

1: I don't see a Ps4
2: The controller is connected via wire

Those are my only observations. Take that for what you will.

Those videos was made before the game was even finished, its more likely that he is conected to a PS4 Dev Kit. But its the PS4 version of the game.

The thing is, there have been threads/posts like that and it still doesn't help.

Oh man, I was just eyeing my LE pre-order on Amazon and I realized that it was being sent to my old house back in CT! I moved to NC two months ago; would have been the worst day ever!

I mean can I stomach it...

And each planet may be huge, but I suspect that you would see all the planet has to offer in a square kilometer or so... the rest of the planet would likely be just more of the same thing. Will wait to see how wrong I am about that.

Come on, they're big enough to make you feel dwarfed. You're asking for something that the tech can't deliver. There has to be a depth and height restriction of some sort.
No, no, hang on there,

"Come on" what? NMS absolutely does not capture the dwarfed feeling for me, and compares nothing to the gif I provided which is my definition of "feeling dwarfed". There are other space games out there with procedurally generated landscapes that convey a bigger sense of environmental scale than NMS.

This is what I consider being dwarfed by trees.

What you're looking for will most likely be found towards the center of the galaxy. Everything else in the game abides by general rules of nature and physics, but as you get closer and closer to the center of the galaxy the game begins to ignore those rules. We've already seen some very strange creatures (absolutely massive snake) and landscapes (a desert with strange wobbly rings on the ground, floating islands), I imagine giant plants and animals will be one of the broken rules towards the center.

Do we think the draw distance will be a problem when exploring? Some videos you watch, have plants, and even animals forming before your eyes only around 20 virtual meters in front of you. . .kind of makes it difficult to see something awesome way in the distance and go towards it because you won't actually be able to see things in the distance.

Or is it good because you've to walk around and explore everything and you may stumble in to things you couldn't see at a distance.

It'll be interesting to see how NMS turns out with its "limits" on height and depth. So is 128 meters the total limit from the bedrock to the top of the atmosphere? We've seen some cool landscapes in this game so far but what I've seen so far has been different from other space simulators.

Elite Dangerous Horizons only lets you explore the surfaces of small airless planets, and I haven't played that expansion, but I think it does have "real" sized land features. You can drive across things like massive craters and past mountains I think. I remember someone mentioning driving through a canyon that was 3km deep.

Space Engine procedurally generates mountains, craters, and oceans of real geographical size too. Atmospheres do stretch miles above surfaces, mountains can be thousands of feet high, and oceans can be 50 or 60 miles deep in some cases. It just takes a shitload of time for the game to load all that stuff.

I have been hyped for this game for years. But, there is one thing that really bothers me is the whole no multiple biomes (desert, forest, grassland, tundra, etc) on the same planet issue. My reason for this is because although you have a massive planet to explore, if everything generally looks the same where I'm standing as it does 500 miles from there, why do a lot of exploring?

Now the standard response to this is "the game has millions of planets, you aren't meant to hang around on one for a very long time.". Okay, fair enough, and that's fine BUT I believe we've been told that 1 out of every 10 planets will have simple life (a few plants) and 1 out of 100 will have complex life (animals, etc) that means that only 1% of the planets you find will be full of life. So it would be much cooler to have a compelling reason to actually explore a lot of a world full of life once you finally find one.

Anyone else feel this way? I certainly don't want to spend hours until I find my first full of life planet only to feel that I've seen it all in a few minutes and it's time to move on.

It seems to me that one main reason you'll explore planets is because each one will have points of interest spread all over it.

Does everything have to be complied into a forum post for you? There are dozens of videos and articles on the internet that answer your question, they're all just a google search away.

I feel like I read and follow along with new postings about this game on a daily basis, and I always want to just post, "So, what's this game REALLY about?".

I don't think I've ever seen a release like this for a smaller title getting the AAA treatment.

Is it exclusively first-person or can you switch to third?

Entirely first person.

In fact what you actually look like is one of the big mysteries of the game and apparently tied to the games lore, which is why when you discover another player it's supposed to be something "special"

How special that is remains to be seen though.

In another subject, to Legacy Zero or anyone else working on the OT, will there be a moderator presiding over the thread. I just as assumed More_Badass was going to be the one considering his activity in NMS threads.

Way I always saw it, a Galaxy is a cluster of stars(like the milky way), a Universe is what encompasses those Galaxies. Then you have solar systems(Like ours!) that our within Galaxies.

So Universe>Galaxy>Solar System

I'll be posting there like everyone else, but I'll be keeping an eye out and such as well.

Didn't Sean Murray say a while back that the game is a Universe composed of many Galaxies, and that the one we'll start the game in will be the same for everyone and a little bigger than the Milky Way?

So Universe>Galaxy>Solar System

This is correct.

The universe in the scientific sense that it emcompasses the entirety of space itself.

Within this universal space exists Galaxies which is comprised of Star Clusters and individual Star systems.

In the galactic center of the Milky Way for instance is the Supermassive Black Hole Sagittarius A, which has ton of Star Clusters arounding it, of mainly very young and very hot stars (Basically young in the sense they are 50 million years old compared to our Sun which is estimated to be 4.6 Billion years old in comparison)

Now it's the center of the universe again ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It was always the center of the universe. Sean even made a joke that ppl keep saying galaxy, and then soon its a solar system only, and then just a planet and as the time goes by ppl will be saying is a small house. :p

Sean said this before: Imagine a GIANT sphere. The goal is to reach the center of this sphere. This sphere is the universe and all players start at a random point around the sphere. Within this sphere there will be multiple galaxies that house the planets.

That is how I see it.

Nah, he definitely said the goal was to get to the center of the galaxy multiple times, during different interviews.

I mean, I don't mind much either way but it's weird how they keep using those two terms like they're the same thing, and it's not just journalists fucking up.
