MCV: Mario & Pokemon coming within 6 months of NX launch, 3rd parties, exec comment

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
What's great about creating news stories out of NX rumors is that there is no way to hold you accountable if you are wrong, but you get clicks. And you get to cite "sources".

There seem to be a lot of sites with sources these days.

Well, to be really honest (mind you, not saying this rumour is the real deal), people with actual knowledge on the matter but scared of NDAs feel less blocked to share stuff when someone else's take the risk as first. It's not the first time it happens.

Did you see Miyamoto's comments at E3, though?

Unless a timetable has moved up, this makes me think we are looking at Holiday 2017 at the earliest. But, perhaps he was only referring to 3D Mario here and that we'll see a 2D Mario in this timeframe.

Or he's just being coy. A year ago, we all thought Pikmin 4 was about to launch. I wouldn't take his comments too seriously. For all we know, there could be a huge Mario blowout at the NX reveal.

That being said, a 3D Mario for next holiday would make a lot of sense.

First 6 months?

These should all be launch titles.

No.

Yeah, since it's sounding like NX isn't BC, I can buy a Sun port now.
Earlier in the year, I would've called it crazy, but Pokémon games are long sellers, and missing out on the latest hardware will hurt them.

You dont blow your load like that on launch day. Then the months after people will complain about droughts. That's exacly what happened to Vita. A ridiculously stacked launch and all people could say in the months that followed was that no games were comng out for it. You have to spread your releases out.

Miyamoto also said that Pikmin 4 is almost ready and months later wasn't so ready anymore. So I wouldn't take his comments at face value for the timing of game releases, unless it's an official announcement.

Also, I thought E3 is no longer relevant for Nintendo, so they can show the new games whenever, preferably when revealing NX.

Total lack of EA from the list of 3rd parties, but totally expected, unfortunately. I still wonder if Nintendo really plans to do nothing about sport games.

Anyone know the sales numbers for Xenoblade Chronicles X? Did it sell enough that EA would consider porting Mass Effect:Andromeda as a launch title?

I don't believe this, but at the same time anything can happen. Nintendo defies expectations all the time so there's no reason to use past tendencies as a guideline. That being said even if this is true they could very easily be spin offs... Though actually ever since the reveal sun and moon has been very suspect. I could easily see an NX version happening

A good and well supported launch window? That's something Nintendo wasn't able to pull off for the 3ds or WiiU. I fear unexpected delays will push games out of the launch window which I think is exactly what happened with the WiiU.

Nintendo will make the first eSports sports game. Experience the excitement of banning stages in Smash Bros!

I'm betting the new Mario will be Galaxy 3.
It makes sense.

I just hope they have alot more up their sleeve than those 3 games.

lol... not happening

Probably.. But I'll take any hope I can get at this point.

Since EA already make everything on Frostbyte, Nintendo just need to get a solid Dev pipeline for Frostbyte on the NX and EA will port everything since it will be easy.

Great find OP! It sounds as if they are trying to avoid droughts this time around. That's probably said every year, haha, but at least hearing about the effort is nice!

Did we talk about this quote yet?

Not sure how to feel about this.

There are so many things that could mean, but it is interesting for sure. It was in another NX thread, but I pulled some quotes about how the Nintendo Account is one of the main elements of the NX. I'm wondering if there will be a way to use smartphones (through an app) to interact with NX games as a controller, or even just causing new functions to happen, in real time. Just a variety of methods to hook people in.

They also keep talking about QoL. Now, we all go directly to health things, but in their view, it's always seemed to be more than just that and more encompassing. Since many people carry smartphones, it provides a great way to gamify normal things and provide added enjoyment beyond just what's capable with the phone alone. (Theoretically!) Miitomo is kind of like this, but really, what if (again, through an NX app or something) your smartphone became a super enhanced VMU for the NX? Could be really cool and immersive if done right!

Also, for option three, maybe they'll have a curated Android storefront and just provide an enhanced, fun way to play those games as well on a more capable device. Not as ambitious, but the more access to games, the better!

It is a suped up handheld so that would mean they would go after "mobile" crowd for sure. Reggie made this clear they're targeting blue ocean and Ubisoft made comments about it too. They're targeting the largest base with the hardware, but I expect lots and lots of great core experiences unlike Wii.

So I guess the new Pokemon will be the 3rd version of Sun/Moon - Maybe Eclipse or something.

I assume it'd be on 3DS AND NX, but hopefully it's just NX!

See now. I expected these titles to be on NX. Muliple games in the franchises actually. So it doesnt get me excited. If they said Fzero etc. then it'd be worthwhile news.

Either way i think the Nx will be a great companion for my ps4

You both make good points. Plus, there's always the possibility some nuance in his words is lost in translation. So, that's reassuring. Thank you.

I don't know that E3 is no longer relevant. They even leaned on the BotW showing at their last investor briefing. I think it's definitely less relevant than it used to be, though.

I agree, but at the same time they do need at least a few big titles at launch. They need to make a big splash.

What game has graphics between PS3 and PS4?? l

Many Wii U games.

Why? The NSMB games were fantastic platformers, better with each version. It's only the fact that they all look the same that people have issues with. Slap a new coat of paint on it and people wouldn't know

I agree, but based on comments Nintendo has made I expect a different title and different look when we next see 2D Mario. I guess it's now spent 3.5 years back on the shelf so we could be due for a new unveiling.

Poor word choice on my part. I should say I expect it to get more core third party games unlike the Wii because the Wii was too weak to get them. I'm not saying NX will get much, but more than Wii, which isn't saying much lol.

Anyways, if NX does great (like Wii) all third party devs will rush to it to make some type of game for it.

The fact that MVC said up to PS4 is good news on Nintendos part and core third party games.

Yeah, they really just need to drop the "New Super Mario Bros." name and give it better aesthetics. No more "bah bah".

2D Mario games are basically what put Nintendo on the map. It deserves better treatment from Nintendo.

Is EA making anything coming out next Spring besides Mass Effect? It doesn't feel like it, honestly.

For any other console maker EA would have at launch at least a port of FIFA and a port of Madden. Because these (especially FIFA) are constant sellers.
