No Man's Sky Spoiler Thread

One thing I would have liked that I haven't seen any indication of are civilized planets with cities and what not on them.
There aren't any cities. Sean Murray has said the closest thing would be a sci-fi version of a wild west frontier ala Star Wars episodes IV, V and VI.

Well, they'd either have to be premade cities copy and pasted all over or procedural cities. Given the fact that actual cities on earth sometimes don't have logical design choices, I doubt a procedural city will fare any better, but I'd love to see it, and it could just be chalked up to being "alien" if streets, buildings, etc. all collide into jumbled messes.

Pop-in is on par with TPP and GTA, however both of those games hide it well due to low LOS numbers. Doesn't bother me much, but it'll bug people who play on high-end PCs no doubt.

He did say that he has no problem with a game like Skyrim. It's NMS specifically that's giving him issues for the reasons he provided. Tbch the planets he's been visiting so far have been really barren and boring looking. Hope he comes across something lush soon.

You are correct. I guess it's just odd that he's not interested in exploring anything in the game he went out of his way to buy early. I get he wanted a multiplayer experience, and I can understand that Skyrim has a lot more in content that keeps players engaged, but he sounded miserable while playing it. I totally understand this might not be the game for him though and can understand where he's coming from.

Dude sounds pretty jaded. He flips his shit every time any words pop on the screen and keeps complaining about how stupid all the ships look and stuff. Lol. Dont think he knew what he was getting into at all. Dude hates the game.

Im starting to think he was liking the game but found it a little to monotonous for his taste, and boring. But after the shitload of people "but why? But why?" and people even calling salty and bitter hes starting to take a bit of hate for the game.

Oi that's quite the passive agressive post. Watching the stream he is exploring but he's not finding many interesting things. He also didn't go in expecting or necessarily wanting a heavily multiplayer experience.

That's literally what happened. It's getting even worse because now some in the stream chat are calling him an xbox fanboy. :|

This guy is also saying that the game crashing has only happened on the reddit leaker, that nobody else who has had the copy has crashed

interesting

Pretty sure that Big_Tiggles streamer crashed once on stream and talked about a previous crash. Nothing near the 20 the Reddit dude had.

Wow, fuck these people. I was using a program to watch the stream, partially to get rid of the buffering and partially to not having to interact with the chat. Was just hearing his responses, and could feel his frustration growing.

Man y'all (and I mean in general, not just this thread I guess) cannot get this bent out of shape over a random streamer not liking the game. I am not looking forward to review thread time

Yeah, mostly he started off fairly balanced. Kept telling people it wasn't a bad game, some people will really like it, just not for him. But then it ended up more like arguing with people and him trying to explain why it wasn't grabbing him.

I understand the 20/60 dollar question in context. There are games I'd buy for 20 because they're not really my sort of thing but I'll give them a try anyway.

The one criticism I think is legitimate all round is the difficulty. There should at least be an option for a harder mode, even if it's the option to start a more extreme galaxy. The game mechanics seem suited for it and I clearly remember interviews with Sean where there was a big focus on survival, and how he was stressing "this isn't an ambient experience".

This is totally an ambient experience. It's really weird...

Has any of the streamers visited planets like the one in the first NMS trailer? Like really lush with plants and huge animals.

I really hope there is a harder mode :/ I saw quite a bit of streams so far, and nobody was ever close of dying.

The procedural generation on creatures makes the game look like an early access title.

Its not enough that they look absurd, but theres also ones just floating in the air in some webms.

Which creatures? Some of them look fucking amazing and some look rough which is fine.

Like this one blends really well together and I've seen a lot more than really bad ones

What if the insanity of the No Mans Sky was the game all along. Every

This streamer has the highest peaks I've seen so far and absolutely ignores it. This hill was approaching mountain size and he just turns away -_-

I'm not really sure I'd say that blends together well. It just looks like a fucked up stegosaurus. I've seen some pretty cool stuff though. That's procedural for you!

After you feed them with wathever food their organism processes, they get a happy smiley face on them. On a stream I watched, the creature would prance around happy, and evenn brought the player a health pack it found lying around. I confess, it was cute as hell.

I know I'll be perfectly fine with drifting round the galaxy exploring stuff leisurely for many hours, but I know people would like more of a challenge, even myself from time to time. It just seems weird that it's quite so easy after some of the interviews. Even some of the journalists' impressions earlier this year suggested something tougher.

I guess that's not hard to add if people want it, but I don't get why it's not like that on the disk. I mean even Minecraft has challenging play modes.

Could this be one of the balancing things Sean and the team was mentioning? He was quite vocal about the game being challenging and exploring weird places mean more because it was hard to get there.

Hi, do you know if these creatures you can feed can be domesticated? Can you feed all creatures? Can you go fishing?
If an animal going to retrieve a snacky poo for you isnt domesticated, I'll be a monkeys uncle. You can kill fish which is esetially fishing.
