I lost cable around the time he took over, and didn't really have the interest to check it out online for a while. Lately, I've been watching it online for the Daily Show's election coverage, and I just have to say god damn is he doing a good job.

His show has a weird combination of feeling like the Daily Show hasn't missed a beat since Stewart left, but also feel entirely different. And he has a wonderful group of correspondents backing him up.

I especially love Desi Lydic's "What the Actual Fact?" segments. Hasan Minhaj is also also a stand out. Jordan Klepper seems to like he's channeling a liiiiittle too much young Colbert to me, but he's still pretty good too.

But if you are for some reason still in doubt regarding this Daily Show, don't be. Here's a few clips to get you started.

Sorry, I can't agree... though I wish I could. I love TDS, but his style just doesn't do it for me. I still watch occasionally, but I prefer the bits with the correspondents.

No, not even close. His sense of humor is very dry and cold. He was not a good replacement to begin with and they should really start looking for a new host before the show is dead.

Trevor just couldn't hold my interest long enough before a new show came into town.

The Daily Show lost me to Queen Samantha Bee.

LMAO.

OP reads like it has come straight from the PR department of Comedy central.

Or an actual human being with an opinion!

He's great. People forget Stewart wasn't amazing season one as well. I think Noah is doing well.

This is why I think he's doing so great. He's been running the show for less than a year now and he's already got a firm grip on it.

He's not perfect and improvments can be made, but he's doing a fantastic job. (imo)

I doubt people can forget that because it is brought up all the time to defend Noah. Also, Stewart was fine in the beginning. The problem was the writing holdovers from Killborn that did not mesh with Stewart's style of comedy. Also, it didn't last as long as you think it did. Also, saying "well, Stewart was bad at the beginning" shouldn't be the best excuse to defend Noah and is handwaving away his issues.

I watched the first week of the show. I thought Noah was terrible. I've checked in every once in a while and I see no improvement. I don't like his style and delivery and I don't like the humor. I remember reading an article months ago from, I think, Slate talking about what was wrong with the show and how it might improve. Months later, it hasn't. I'm glad people like the show, but I think it is demonstrably worse with no current signs of improvement.

Also, funny this thread popped up today when within the last few weeks the show has been getting criticized for getting basic facts wrong in their political commentary, as well as being more misguided and misleading that what was being done with Stewart.

It's ok that this show is no longer for me. Just because I liked the old version doesn't mean I have to keep liking this because it carries the same name. If I now want a smart political comedy show, I'm going to watch Samantha Bee.

I remember when Jon took over the Daily Show from Craig Kilborn, and I remember a lot of people absolutely hated him. It took time.

He getting better. I watched the Aug 8th episode dealing with "rigged elections" and that was the type of satire you expect from the Daily Show. I almost felt a little last week tonight.

Ehhhh he's getting better, but it's becoming more obvious he doesn't really have his delivery down.

I'd be more happy to see some of his correspondents in his chair actually.

Hasan Minhaj has shown himself as a great presence.
And man, Jordan Klepper does a perfect job capturing the "ignorant self-indulgent white man" in comedy form.

I'll take your word for it. I stopped watching two weeks after he took the helm and have only caught it periodically since. He seems kind of flat to me whereas his correspondents seem like they're trying too hard; they don't balance out.

I prefer Jon Oliver in general, maybe even Samantha Bee, but I agree. He's got his faults (laughing at his own jokes a bit too much). But he doing the legacy Jon left behind justice.

Not as good as Jon but he's getting there. I love that he brings the culture perspective from his native country too.

Jon was great right from the start. It's just that he elevated the show to a much higher level later on.

Trevor's comedic timing is just bad, and he's a terrible interviewer. Just because Jon made the show better after a few years doesn't mean Trevor can do the same when the underlying problem is talent, not the format of the show.
