You seem pretty ignorant so let me spell it out for you.

I was told it wasn't a spoiler, fair enough. Flat out told it WASN'T a spoiler. Zoomba quoted something from the original poster and now it seems that it was a spoiler? How the hell were we meant to know? We were told it wasn't. Where is your logic mate.

So thanks, because we were mislead on that. Unless it really isn't a spoiler, but then your argument still doesn't make sense.
You dont need to spell anything out for me, thank you. You guys are complaing about people spoilering things and then spread to supposed spoiler yourselves.

Does it though? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLtmEjqzg7M

I have yet to see any stream "deliver" everything this trailer was promising.

So your POV is all based on streams? OK.

The final game is substantially less polished than that trailer - and the PS4 version has slightly less rendered on screen on planet (a lot less rendered in space) - but yes I've seen every single thing shown in that trailer in a less polished state. I've played for about 30 hours. I've seen creatures chasing each other. Planets dense with vegetation. Flying between planets and getting into epic space battles in between.

Honestly the only really big difference between what I've played and that trailer is the draw distance - which hopefully will be addressed in the PC version.

What about it? Don't get it? There's mp...

However not in the traditional sense. But everyone just keeps ignoring what Sean said back in March. Pretty cut and dry

That has to be like the gold medal of olympic mental gymnastics, holy shit. "I said there was multiplayer, it's your problem that my definition of "multiplayer" matches word by word everyone else's definition of "single player". :D

So with all the lies outside of multiplayer coming to light, is this going to be a Black & White situation where reaction to the game only sours as the months pass?

lol

A polite discourse, where everyone is telling Sean:

The accusations here are hysterical.

It's probably SONY'S fault for the server issues in the first place.

I honestly don't understand why people are so upset about this. What are you going to do with another person in this game? Go on adventures around the star system and mine stuff together? Have starship races to see who could get to the space station the fastest? Shoot down space pirates together? What?

Well, everything you just mentioned sounds kind of awesome.

God-tier mod edit. Still surprised this topic has such legs. Is it disappointing? I suppose. Is it worthy of 150+ of war? Not convinced.

MEET another person... it's as simple as that.. ;o)

People expected a meeting between players to be a rare event, as promised, which would cause an additional event of surprise. Now this element is gone.

I think the issue is the lack of response and lack of clear messaging from the developer instead of the lack of MP. If they responded right away sorry we couldn't get it implemented in time for launch. This wouldnt be a 150 page thread. If they had messaged clearly a week before launch the same thing we wouldn't have this thread. The lack of communication is the real issue and not that there is no MP.

I genuinely can't tell if this is a joke or not.

I am saying you guys need to stop digging and just don't give a shit about what you read :p

I am trying to help you guys keep your enjoyment of the game.

If you keep digging, you will encounter spoilers and you will feel bad about.

Stop quoting stuff, stop reading backwards.

It's not "digging" if you read the spoiler one page (around 50 or so posts) back from when you come back to the topic hoping to see any new developments (spoiler: there weren't). I then posted about it, no quotes, just the users name on that very next page (155@50ppp). So all this "digging" I did came about when I was unsure if it was a spoiler and then the actual quoting of the post came when I was told "nah, it's not a spoiler, don't worry" and then when I was told "dude, wtf, why did you quote the spoiler?" I went back and tagged it because hey, turned out it was a spoiler! Lady Siara did it best and just quoted me with their answer in a spoiler tag rather than lie and say it wasn't a spoiler and then ask where I even got the notion he even mentioned the centre of the galaxy in the first place.

Anyway, I shouldn't have to defend myself from this, when you're told something isn't a spoiler after you thought it was and it is allowed to be unmarked how am I supposed to know it was a spoiler without getting to that point?

Anyway I shouldn't have been spoilt in the first place. I stayed out of the OT, the picture thread and the spoiler thread. I was only here because I wanted to know about this one feature (and yeah, I did watch the stream from the two guys where they just faffed about on one planet and a space station trying to connect to each other). Yeah, I know, spoiler-phobia, spoiler culture, entitled prick etc. I just expected this topic to be about the "multiplayer" and was prepared to be spoilt on that (if it turned out it was activated after getting to the centre or something I was fine with knowing that).

Sean Murray is so great and it depresses me that people are getting on his case.

One thing you have to understand about this man is that he's so creative. He's so creative that his mind is going a mile a minute and sometimes it gets ahead of itself so he tells a few lies. There's nothing wrong with that.

He's the best kind of person for this dying industry filled with sequels. I think people getting on his case is making him sad. A sad Sean is something I hope I never have to see. If Sean is sad, I'm sad.

He invented an amazing game and, even though that amazing game never actually existed outside of his own head, he ended up making one that is still kinda fine.

So what if he repeated lies over and over again interview after interview? So what if he won't own up to it and let us know what the game is actually capable of? Would it better if he didn't lie through his teeth while grinning at us like a jackass? Of course it would. But that smile of his melts my heart and that's worth something. Like, $60.

Anyway, this whole witch hunt is making me ill. Sean Murray is no witch. He's just an honest liar.

Actually that all sounds amazing. Sign me up.

:( Well, I found this last night case anyone missed it.

Edit: Yup, found the source. It's from a GamInformer interview.

So he said that you would want your friends to be with you at the center... That's really heavily implying multiplayer. I mean, what else could that possibly mean. I can't imagine anyone taking that to mean anything other than hanging with your friends at the center in an epic moment.

keeps getting worse

So add Hello Games to the growing list of shady developers then. Fuck this noise. And I really wanted to love NMS, too.

Props to that one mod for changing the title

I swear I've seen that shit being thrown around in this same thread.

Edit: betrayal? My god hahaha
Yeah lying to consumers is a big no-no but the world goes on I guess, the devs are going to see the results of their doings.

I'm enjoying the game but everything you just proposed is about 100x more interesting than the gameplay loop I'm currently stuck in.

That throwing stick stunt of yours has boomeranged on us.
I don't actually remember him mentioning that they orbit in real time. I think it was always mentioned they're static relatively. It looks fucking awesome like this anyway.

He did, it's been posted multiple times in multiple threads.

Multiplayer would just detract from the true experience. This game is about being alone in space with infinite possibilities, it's in the name of the game! Did no one even read the title? If you buy a game called Mario, you expect a game called Mario. It's not Sean's fault if you couldn't read the title.

Having other players in the game would be a distraction. How are you supposed to enjoy understanding the plight of a billion subspecies of space fauna when your friend is there trying to understand you? Do you honestly expect you and your friends to get together and notice the patterns of emergent AI in the billions of localized animal species and the implications that has on our human experience? This game is at risk of losing its transcendence and people are too busy trying to chase outrage culture to understand the implications this has on our generation's creatives.

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch

So that justify him for lying? Wow.

There are countless of game developers who don't lie and make creative and fun games too outside of those tireless sequels, fyi.

Then why not make it a single player game right from the start? Obviously the developers doesn't feel having other players will be a distraction, or they wouldn't be talking about having multiplayer in the first place.

I got you all covered.

Here's what you will see when you meet another player:

*****EXTREME SPOILER WARNING*****

Yes, we all look exactly the same - like the Pokemon Go dude on the cover of the game box. There's not even a sticker covering it.

If I'm really looking forward to a game and am worried about spoilers, I just don't go into threads about that game until I've played it. Simple really.

Then why make it the same Galaxy for everyone? Imo the game was about the vastness of space, knowing there were thousands of others out there but never being able to know where they are. The excitement of one day being able to stumble across the same spot and find another person sounded thrilling. Sean knows this, and that's why he implied it existed.

BRAVO SIR! Fucking first rate sarcasm here.

On topic, this stinks of Sony BS. Murray talked of MP elements, griefing, meeting up with other players, etc plenty leading up to launch.

Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen have implemented MP features with no issues. I think Murray likely has as well, but Sony is making him keep silent due to their networking issues.

It's either that or Murray is a fucking liar and that's just depressing. A mind like his comes along once in a generation. Who else could have gotten a colossal project like NMS off the ground and onto consoles?

No Man's Sky seem to be one of those rare games where even if you didn't end up buying it, your still guaranteed hours upon hours worth of entertainment.

Being able to run into another person was a huge interesting point for me. It made the game seem connected, despite the massive size of the world there would be other people actually out there that you could actually run into.

I think it's absurd for anyone to downplay this aspect of the game.

Well, everything you just mentioned sounds kind of awesome.

This is exactly what my friends and me planned on doing, I mean even just flying with each other would have been good enough, that's all we ever wanted :/

And without multiplayer we also won't have the inevitable No Man's Sky love-stories where two lone people meet in the endless universe by pure chance and accident as if it were fate, fighting against Crackachu's and then they ultimately becoming a couple and marrying :(
