The E3 console builds were shaky. They are still predominately showcasing the game on development PCs.

Technically this is first delay for FFXV. Ten years gave us strange feeling but this is first time...
The only console build at E3 was the Titan demo, and that wasn't shaky.
And while they are showing dev PC material on screenshots and in videos, the preview events where people actually play the game use the console builds now (different to E3).

If all boss fights are going to be glorified quicktime events, the game won't even need to be buggy to fail.

Doesn't matter that much, does it? The game has been anticipated for 10+ years, and they announced the release date only a few months ago. They can't afford the same delay pattern as games that aren't ten years old.
Final Fantasy Versus XIII was cancelled. Final Fantasy XV was announced at E3 2013, so it's three years old.
The games aren't the same -- just ask the Stella fans.
So, new trailer + delay message at Gamescom maybe?
It's not a completely different audience. There aren't many that play FFXIV that won't play any of the single-player games. The opposite, however, is not true. That audience should consider that Final Fantasy is more than the latest single-player release. Even if XV is a critical and commercial failure, the series is hardly going to fade into obscurity.
[me on 29th November]
- finally, gonna play FF15
- just pass chapter 1 because of "collect 'em all" habit
- quit game
[me on 30th November]
- finally, gonna play Gravity Rush 2
- just pass chapter 1 because of "collect 'em all" habit
- quit game
- play FF15
[me on 1st-5th December]
- play FF15
- quit game
- play Gravity Rush 2
- quit game
- loop
- suffer
[me on 6th December]
- finally, gonna play South Park Butthole
- just pass chapter 1 because of "collect 'em all" habit
- quit game
- suffer
- die

Hopefully not true.
If it is I will have to cancel my Gravity Rush 2 preorder to play it. I won't get much time as November to February is my busy time and I might have to cancel my Persona preorder as well.
Expected. Probably needs more time than that, honestly.
I just want to move on to XVI.
From the state of the videos released, this is true. I mean, nothing of this game is impressive, usually older FF games were also a tech showcase for the machines in which they released (just think about FFVII, the first 3D RPG on PSX after Wild Arms 1, which wasn't too impressive), even FFXIII delivered in this, PS3 version looks awesome even now...FFXV after Witcher 3, GTAV etc. doesn't look at all, otherwise it looks very bland and unpolished.
So yeah, even from a mere graphics aspect, the game still needs work (I'm not even talking about the clipping the Titan demo had).
But if you are not sure to being able to deliver in time an already delayed, stuck in development hell title, you don't do a big event in a theatre just to delay the game two months after.
Scea doesnt care enough about gravity rush to delay it.
The only people who will be rushing to buy GR2 are the same people who loved the GR Remaster on PS4. We are a niche fanbase... apparently.

Damn, I thought I was being original

If there is a delay...they should put up a new episode duscae demo >.>

Here's my ULTIMATE question.
My SUPER DUPER question I would love someone to answer. And it would have made a world of difference and put this game in a much better place for many people.
Why..........WHY did SE announce Final Fantasy Versus XIII AT ALL?
Why would ANY developer, announce vaporware that is more than 3 years out?
Don't do it.
Don't do that. 3+ years out? Just keep it under wraps! You don't build hype and keep hype for that long. Better to wait until it's actually......I don't know. A GAME.
This game should not have even BEEN ANNOUNCED until late 2014, as far as I'm concerned. Everything else before that was tripe.

If anything, this thread has shown me that "gimme that Neo version", "oh yeah, will wait for Neo," "Neo version it is then!" is now my most hated GAF meme.
Maybe a PS4Neo is required to be able to run the game smoothly.
No.
They need to get to work pronto.
- "We need every day we can get to improve the game's quality."
- "I've got an idea! Let's focus instead on making another demo."
- "It's brilliant! That way nobody will get angry!"
Here's my ULTIMATE question.

The reason every AAA publisher does, to generate interest and hype. I mean this thread jumped to over 500 replies in like 20 minutes. lol
I mean CD Projekt dropped a CG announcement trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 over 3 years ago and refuse to even discuss it or show any actual gameplay until next year...but thanks to their work on The Witcher 3, for a lot of people it's one of the most anticipated games announced.
It's the first time it's been publicly delayed.
But the definition of delay is to make something happen later than originally planned or intended. And I'm pretty sure when Square Enix first decided to develop this game, they intended to release it much much sooner.
Yes. Now a lot of the people who were looking forward to Versus are buying FFXV, even if FFXV isn't as appealing to them. If they had never shown any Nomura-directed trailers and instead started with the Tabata-directed trailers, there would be less hype and less sales for sure. But what is the actual DIFFERENCE between THAT hype, and the hype of revealing 1 year before release? Does it ACTUALLY get you more sales?
