One thing I wondering though is how it's going to be found in-game. The description seems to suggest that it's found on the volcano o Akala Island, but it seems a little strong for that early in the game, no?

might have a pre evo or just only accessible after you get a certain HM pokemon.

Maybe you can only encounter it after you gain the ability to surf... on lava.

It's entirely possible that it is found in an area of the volcano that you need to backtrack to once you have a certain ability, like getting a flying ride Pokemon so you can reach the summit. There's also the possibility that we'll encounter a pre-evo on our first trip to the volcano.

It's probably just a bad edit the English trailers are full of. It looks like at least three different moves where being shown there. It's opponent even de-volves during one attack.

Yep, I'm really digging it too. I like its color pattern (the helmet and shell ringed with red, then gold) and its concept (a matamata turtle with a sulfurous shell rigged to explode). We've never really seen a Pokemon that looks like this before (or even stands like this), so it's quite refreshing all around. Also, seeing Fire/Dragon on a non-legendary/non-mega is nice. And it has a built-in physical counter!

It'll probably work even if Turtonator gets KO'd so that would make it probably better than Counter since you could use it against physical attackers that outspeed you and are about to KO you. Which will probably be common since Turtonator will probably be on the slower side of things.

Raphael = Torkoal or Turtonator
Michaelangelo = Torkoal or Turtonator
Donatello = Blastoise or Carracosta

Lol agree to disagree I suppose. But this gen has its fair share of hits and duds, just like any other generation.

Pikipek, Litten, Rowlet, Cutiefly, Salandit, Rockruff, Komala, Vikavolt, Lorantis, etc all look p good. And I love all of the Alolan forms.

Magearna, Grubbin, the sandcastle Pokemon, Mudbray, the horseshoe crab, the awful Pikachu knockoff, Popplio, Bruxish and now this thing all look p garbage, though, I'll give you that.

Lots of Pokemon I'm ok with or on the fence about, but for the most part, I'm decently satisfied. Even with the trash.

It's fire due to the sulfur collected on its back. It's an explosive Pokemon.

I actually like stuff like this for fire types, we need more Fire type pokemon that don't have OBVIOUS FIRE HERE in their designs
