Nintendo Announces Back-To-School Deals, Offers Some of the Biggest Hits for sub-$20

Target has had preorders open up a couple of times in the past week or two. I managed to get mine in 2 days ago. The windows of opportunity don't last long though, and no doubt eBay scalpers are probably ordering a lot of them. I've not seen Walmart offer preorders yet.

Only Target and Walmart will carry these in NA according to NOA. If you don't manage a preorder then try showing up early the 26th or even the night before and see if they've put them out.

At this price and considering the decent set of face plates these will probably sell out quick.

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it.

The closest Target I have is roughly an hour away, while Walmart is literally right across the street, so I'm banking on Walmart haha. I've had luck in the past with Nintendo things by showing up at midnight, so that's probably what I'll do Thursday night & hope for the best.

Any word on the availability of this 3ds bundle? I want to bite because of the 8bit faceplate, but I'm afraid I may have missed it because sometimes Nintendo stuff does end up "preorder only"-ish.

I also noticed the Nintendo website only lists Target as a retailer for this bundle, anyone confirmed Walmart has/will be getting these?

Oh these weren't out yet?

I also saw these out at Walmart on Saturday. I had assumed it had released.

The 3DS selects at target apparently have a coupon for a free popcorn and drink combo. Seems Nintendo has a promotion with the Target food court with branded popcorn bags and cups.

So is this release limited to a few retailers? I don't see it listed on GameStop or Best Buy's website.

They had a few in stock and on the shelves at Wal Mart on Monday. Someone was there trying to buy one when I was there and the computer wouldn't let them sell it.

Any word on stock of the N3DS bundle per store? Wondering if I can stroll into Target at opening tomorrow morning and nab one.

They've been available in Canada for about a week (I've already bought one) and there were a TON at each store I went to. Think we're safe from scalpers and sell outs this time. I walked in a few days after launch and grabbed one.

Anyone know if these sales get reflected on the eShop usually? I bet my daughter would live Tomodachi and Nintendogs.

...but why do my kids need games for back to school lol. I still want to buy them for her. I'm a bad parent... And I'm also a school teacher!

Yeah, the eShop versions get the Nintendo Select prices, since these are technically these games' new MSRPs rather than a sale (even though retail treats them as new SKUs).

Just placed my order for Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon from Amazon today.

And just tide me over 'til Dragon Quest VII gets here soon! Can't wait!

Getting New Leaf tomorrow. My first ever Animal Crossing game. Should keep me busy till DQ7.
I think you may enjoy it. I previously played the DS AC, and it very quickly got boring. But they really improved things a lot with New Leaf. Much more to do and stuff going on. I am not the typical AC demographic either, but nothing I've ever played is more relaxing. It's the video game equivalent of a warm cup of tea with honey on a rainy night.

Enter the Dragon Punch,

Thanks, and no need to post a photo later. I did some googling and sure enough there are definitely small 3DS's with IPS, some even have dual IPS! I saw a video review that showed it -- freaking unicorn 3DS! So annoying how we all pay the same price but display quality is such a lottery.

Just hoping I get an IPS top screen. Dual IPS would be amazing, but I have no expectation of that.

EDIT: anyone wanting to see the small N3DS with dual IPS, see the video below. Prepare to be angry at Nintendo for not using consistent displays: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1R2Uwyzn9Ok

EDIT 2: "Nintendo 3ds screen bullshit!" (Well, he ain't wrong): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BLTFCTk-QU

Manage to grab the old Wind Waker HD box art for the new price at GS. Pretty happy right now since I don't really like those Nintendo Selects headings.

Someone help me make the choice. I have only enough apare cash to spend on one game: DKC:TP, Super Mario 3D World, or Wind Waker HD (never played original).

What do GAF?

3D World = Wind Waker HD > Tropical Freeze
Honestly you can't go wrong with either games. 3D World and Tropical Freeze have a lot of replayability, 3D World has the edge of having 4 player coop. Wind Waker HD is pretty much another great Zelda game and a must play to be honest. Get Zelda if you need a lengthy game.

What is the basis to enter the Nintendo Selects club? Previous versions of this program I believe were million+ sellers. It's hard to believe Tomodachi Life sold over a million units, but what do I know...
