The description is badly phrased. It was the second on SNES, but the third version overall of the game. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the Arcade versions went like this:

SFII The World Warrior
SFII Champion Edition
SFII Turbo - Hyper Fighting
Super SFII
Super SFII Turbo

SFIICE and SSFIIT were not ported to SNES.

Indeed, and SNES Turbo included Champion Edition as its "non-Turbo" mode.

There's also a 6th arcade version (Hyper SF2 Anniversary Edition).

Though I don't quite remember it.
Was it an entirely separate version of the game on the same cart (with old/originally-coloured backgrounds, old character portraits, etc.) or was it just a slowed down version of Turbo which was consistent with the CE?

Seeing them all like this makes it apparent just how shook Capcom were of Mortal Kombat! It's cool to see how they continually refined and perfected SFII though.

Is Street Fighter Alpha 2 worth getting? I've only ever played Alpha and Alpha 3, never 2. The Alpha series is by far my favorite of the Street Fighters, and I'd like to try it, but I'm unsure how the SNES version is... Though I like the sound of owning it on the 3DS...

Opinion is split over whether 2 or 3 is the best of the series so for an Alpha fan like yourself it wouldn't make sense to happily skip it. No need to be unsure how the SNES version is. It's bad. I enjoyed it fine back in the day loading times and all, but when I played (a decent port of) the original the game rocketed to my GOAT list.

So the eShop releases for next week are up on the Nintendo website... there's already 11 Wii U games. Six of them are from one publisher.

The "Also releasing" section of the PR is going to be bigger than the legal boilerplate, I'm pretty sure.

I bought SM64DS and played it again for the first time in 10 years, I was surprised at how much was added that I forgot about. And although it's noticeable, the 8-way movement hasn't really been much of an issue.

Can we all agree that Nintendo would easily make fat stacks if they would just port Luigi's casino minigames to mobile?

Is the original still the way to go? I'm not a fan of Mario 64, but I've always been curious about this version.

The DS port actually has a pretty massive amount of extra content, adding 3 new playable characters and bringing the total star count up to 150 (from 120). The graphics are also considerably better, in large part because because of improvements in 3D modeling techniques since the original game released (the original was one of the first polygonal games Nintendo worked on, after all).

However, the controls in the DS version are pretty bad due to the system's lack of analog input. You can kinda simulate it with the touchscreen, but even that is still pretty far from ideal.
