Can you ask here where, definitively, the USB ports are and disc drive go? As far as it sounds, ports are in middle top inner layer, and the disc drive is the lower inner layer?
She says USB between second and third layer, drive between first and second layer.
There's no indication whether 'first' means top or bottom though.
She also says 'why do you need to know, you'll see it when it comes out anyway' lol

Thanks! However, this still doesn't make sense based on the sketch and my mockup. Hm....

Button and disc at bottom layer, USB at top. Hard to tell cause he use first second third layer to describe it, first layer could be top or bottom, I'll ask him tomorrow.

This is what my friend said it would look like based on their translation

I won't be surprised if the PS4 Neo won't have "Neo" or another subtitle engraved on it (just like the PS4 Slim and Xbox One S) which will be very misleading for customers.
You know most of the new costumers or even the existing ones don't know that there is a new more powererful PS4 that will get released.
Sony needs to market this very well. The meeting is not enough: not everyone is going to watch it. They need to market it in common places like they did with every console.

I think PS4K is a catchy enough name. Kinda self explanatory lol.

in terns of UI and features, yes, it should be forward compatible.
If you were only talking about that, then you should clarify as forward and backward compatbility are referring to games when talking about consoles.
Games will be cross gen either way.
Never mind, looks like you are talking about games as well. And you're making it sound like it'll be the exact same situation as we have in normal console generations, and that's totally not the case. We're not seeing many cross-gen games at this point, heck I'd say the number of cross-gen games took a sharp dive about a year or year and a half into the ps4's life. Whereas with iterative forward compatible, it'll be at least 3 years before the lower spec system is phased out. And that's with the ideal iterative scenario that they'll only be supporting systems that are one step older at a time.

His remark. White is the color of PS logo, console is black.

WTH...that's one hideous looking console...so basically Neo=2 PS4 duct tape together literally

Sony is pretty good in their HW designs, so I still have hope that it will look much better than this mockup.

Yes, this is the catchiest name. But I still think won't write that neither on the Box nor engrave it on the console itself. It is just a way to talk about it or to call it when speaking just like the PS4 Slim and Xbox One S but not how to sell it otherwise many customers will think it is a new console or new gen and won't probably get it.

Well, it's lunch time and... I updated anyway. Thanks for the help with the translation.

Don't worry, this is literally just Slim+Slim top, done for fun.

I wouldn't be that concerned about it. Maybe there will be a cutoff from older hardware sooner than expected.

it kinda make sense the PS4slim and PS4N design to be similar like this. possible one of the reasons they made the slim look like this.

I don't think this will be a problem at all - consumers are completely used to the 'tick tock' upgrade sequence by now.

*Man walks into Gamestop / Best Buy*
"So this is that new playstation? What's it all about then? Why's it more expensive."
"It plays all the same games, but runs them better."
"Huh? The same games?"
"Yeah. You know the way the iPhone 6 has a 6s? Think of this as the PS4 S. It's the same, but better."
"Oh I getcha."

It's not too hard to understand.

Google Translate:

1: button is located below the middle layer rather than above, its reading off key and key buttons is a cross-linked together.

2: breathing lights moved to the position below the middle layer, and the key merger.

3: USB interface to only two in the second and third intermediate layer.

4: its reading in the middle of the first layer and the second layer.

5: Rear power socket and a conventional power socket PS4 is completely different (to several times).

6: White

7: weighing 4.5 kg.

I'm not sure what that 5th one means. Power brick or no?

are you suggesting replacing thermal paste is a reasonable thing for a normal person to do?

It definitely isn't. I've done it a few times, added the OG revision fan and a copper shim between the app/heat sink. In time (a few months) - it kicks up again. It's one thing that I can't stand about it. I have it on a desk and play on a monitor. It's brutal without headphones.

I hope both NEO and Slim are ALWAYS silent. It's a top priority to me.

The Slim is apparently pretty damn quiet.

I'm expecting Neo to be a bit louder than that but the weight measurements make me think that there's a pretty beefy cooling system in there.
