Confused at people suggesting NX
I guess it depends on how DQXI shapes up. Being similar art styles and the same engine if it ends up ok on NX SE might consider porting it.
SE has been cultivating a fanbase on Nintendo handhelds for over a decade now. Probably not as big as PS, but should be a sizable market

Can't say I'm surprised.

I will be aghast if they cancel the XB1 release worldwide though. It won't happen tho.

And you guys suggesting it'll come to NX are nuts. It's not happening. Not day and date with the PS4 version. Maybe further down the line.

Confused at people suggesting NX

The series has a history on Nintendo systems, NX is supposedly capable of running UE4 (which KH3 is running on), and since NX is a handheld/console hybrid, it's "possible" that Japanese publishers would want their Big Money Japanese-Made Games to sell to a big Japanese audience, which largely plays games on portables/mobile nowadays.

It will still come out in US and EU, Japan is another story though.
Yeah, it'll probably do better on PS4 here but most likely there'd be ENOUGH who just want a Disney adventure on XB1 to merit the effort still. Japan, man, probably not unless Microsoft foots the full bill for manufacture and promotion.

Can't see Microsoft getting the promotion for kh3.

I would prefer if they got rid of the Xbox One version altogether, haha, but that's just me being selfish. Still surprised that the Xbox One exists in Japan, though. Is Microsoft actually making money there? Because I would expect them to be losing money.

Also... we need Sora and an Atlus rep in Smash....

Assuming this isn't a mistake/scheduled maintenance, it's not shocking. The Xbox One is struggling to sell 60 consoles a week in Japan. No amount of creative accounting can make KH3 on X1 a success over there.

It's not completely unfathomable, since Nintendo platforms do have a Kingdom Hearts fanbase. The question is if the NX can even handle Kingdom Hearts 3.

As for the Xbox One version of Kingdom Hearts 3, I wouldn't be surprised if this was a Persona 4 Arena Ultimax situation where the Xbox One version comes out for everyone else except Japan (though in P4AU's case, it was the PS3 & 360).

At least XV is a standalone game that doesn't require anyone to play up to 6 games beforehand to have an idea of what's going on.

I played 5 of those games and still don't know what's going on. The side games just made the story so confusing,

It wouldn't be surprising if the japanese xbox one version got cancelled considering the abysmal sales of FF Type 0 HD in japan and the console itself as a whole in the country. Xbox One just doesn't have a presence in japan at all compared to PS4 or even Wii U

KH3 has 2 directors. If Nomura gets too caught up, the other guy can pick up the slack.

What I gathered from the interviews over the years was that Yasue was pretty much the one overseeing the day-to-day work of the Osaka team (where the majority of the game is being developed) while Nomura routinely reviews and provides direction to him and the team on how the game should come together. So it's not really a case where one can take the role of the other, but neither does it mean work is ever halted.

If this comes to Xbox One what are the chances a collection will make its way to X1 as well? I haven't played KH1 since I was in elementary and would love to prep for part 3.

Makes sense to cut their losses for Japan. I'd also say it would make sense worldwide, but there are some people who will get KH3 on XB1 who would be really slighted, so they should still do it.

I still don't think it'll do well at all on XBox in general though, and FF15 will still be dwarfed on PS4 compared to Bone, but by a marginally lesser extent

From a community stand point I never understood why this is coming to Xbox One

It was before the current gen started. Higher ups wanted some return on investment and so Xbox port had to be done. But after seeing the MS userbase, changed their minds on most games, due to most being uninterested in Japanese titles and Japan not taking to Xbox at all. Xbox 1 will in all sell less than 1/10th of what the 360 did in Japan.

Nomura's also directing FF7r. As much as people like KH, FF7r's WAY more important to Square. Considering how FF13/14 screwed over Versus/15, I could see FF7r doing the same for KH3.

Nomura's presence is not dependent on whether or not KH3 gets developed. Tai Yasue and the Osaka team are completely different from the team working on FF7R.

So while Tai Yasue works under Nomura and Nomura is the main director, Tai Yasue does what Nomura directs him to do and controls day to day operations.

KH is Nomura's series. Nothing doing without him, unfortunately. Otherwise KH3 would've been released like 5 years ago.

KH3 would not have released 5 years ago in general because SE 5 years ago was still in their FF13 FF14 clean ups stage, where no AAA games besides lightning were being made period.

I think XB1 LTD in Japan is like... 65K? If install base is so low they may be not able to recover overhead cost..

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
Yea from a business side I agree but they never even attempted to ingratiate the Xbox community with the previous entires of KH

Maybe once they saw how Type-0 HD performed on Xbox One, they gave out putting JRPGs on the Xbox One.

Everything is coming to NX? Haven't you heard?

But OT, this doesn't surprise me. I actually don't understand why this was ever announced for Xbox One. I mean, when it was announced I can understand SE expected XB1 to do a lot better than it is, but the fact they've made no effort to get the Xbox fanbase up to speed with the franchise and it's convoluted story just tells me of a lack of desire to actually establish the franchise on the platform. It's definitely strange.

Yasue is handling the day to day directorial duties on KHIII. Nomura is the mastermind behind the game and everything ultimately goes through him but Yasue is perfectly capable of doing a majority of the hard work of directing the game's development and Nomura trusts him & his team while he himself is directing FFVIIR.

Also, people who expect this on NX should temper their expectations. KHIII is a game that should push PS4 & Xbone hardware. Unless NX is considerably more powerful than it's rumoured to be, I'm not sure if KHIII is the kind of game that NX is going to be able to run without significant downgrades.

KH3 on the NX?..

You get the sense that the devs didn't really want to do these ports to begin with, but orders from the top made them before the systems came out, and now its just because they said they would do it that they are getting released at all. I really doubt KH3 would be released if they didn't already announce it. FF15 had a good chance atleast because its aiming for a wider market, closer to the Witchers and the Skyrims of the world

Weird that SquareEnix didn't release the HD collection on Xbox yet. Seriously they should release it on both Xbox One and PS4 in order for KH3 to sell more.

Surely PS4 versions of the collections must be in the works, Xbox who knows, they've been pretty reluctant to put 1.5, 2.5 and 2.8 on anything Xbox so far.
