yuk! I had to check Clear Type had not defaulted back to "on". What with this and Chrome forcing DirectWrite - it is a bad time for those of us super sensitive to heavily aliased fonts. Good job I don't actually read much on the GB site.

I thought the idea of most modern fonts was that they were vector based and the aliasing was done by the application?

fun fact: there were three premium videos released in the month of august that were not Unprofessional Fridays or Bombcast videos

july had six, and june had two

just a fun little bit of trivia for you folks, with no agenda at all

That is over my head, all I know is that the modern love of font smoothers like Clear Type and DirectWrite looks like a bleary headache inducing mess to a minority of users - and I am, unfortunately, one of those users.

I can get around it by disabling Clear Type in windows and used to disable DirectWrite in Chrome (latest Chrome removed the option to disable, luckily there are Chromium forks that put it back in).

With all those smoothing options off - and rendering in good old GDI - the GB site new font now looks a lot like those smoothed fonts were on. No idea of the tech behind why. Likely would not bother anyone already using the default font renderers.

This would be the best time for GB to absorb GS before they lose any more editors and/or find themselves irrelevant to publishers in a world dominated by youtube influencers.

I've always found it kinda self-indulgent and like being subjected to someone else's inside joke they insist is super funny. But it still draws crowds so what do I know

Dr. Tracksuit is pretty much the only good thing about Pax Rumble. And that's not worth the rest of it. But it's a fun thing they get to do with their industry friends, so whatever.

I loved it at first, but grew tired quickly... I haven't even watched last PAXs thing, but I'm not a wrestling fan at all so I probably grew tired faster than some. But the people involved with it seem to love it, and it seems like it's more for them than it is the people in the crowd, so I'm not upset that they're continuing to do it.

Yeah, the phrase that comes to mind is self-masturbatory...

And I'm sure the crowds are there to see their favorite internet personalities more than anything else >_>; If I were to go, it'd be to see GB.

Yeah, that's kind of my thought as well. It's dumb and has way too many people involved now but it's a silly thing that only lasts about an hour and, for a lot of the folks involved, is one of maybe two or three times a year they'll get to see each other, so whatever. It's harmless.

Pretty much, I'm not into wrestling but I mainly watch/read about Pax Rumble for the GB duders. Heck, I only get my wrestling updates from GB lol. I'm a UFC guy but I'm not into it's community.

Man, the end of Iwata's segment on Game Tapes.

"The idea of a single device transporting us to the first Excitebike, Earthbound or Punch-Out. Should make us all feel young again, atleast for a while."

He will be dearly missed.

The good thing about Pax is that the Q&A stuff usually makes me want to kill myself and that should line up nicely with some other stuff this year.

What if Alex plays Mass Effect 2 while Vinny explains lore to him

I misread that as "while Vinny explains love to him" and I still think it would be amazing.

Looking back, I think the theft of their equipment at E3 2013 was a really hard hit for the site and then Ryan's passing was devastating.

Still without luck

I'm hoping for three things.
1: someone mentioning a years old giant bomb meme
2: bad question about how stupid Dan is that is very awkward
3:
endurance run

Dan starts ep. 3 on mgscanlon3 saying people are complaining that he needs to stop telling Drew what to do. Then he continues telling him what to do the rest of the ep.

so what is it about japanese video games sneaking their copyright information into their screenshots

Copyright laws are way different over there.

For example, trying to stream some Japanese originated games will sometimes mute either the music, the voices, or everything because of how contractual obligations work with either the composers of music and voice actors.
