You guys who are let down are so weird. I fully expected 3DS to be dead with NX around the corner. Instead they had quite a few "new" games. So with no expectations they pretty over delivered. As far as directs go, which are pretty uniformly crap, this one was quite okay.

3DS is still dead tho.

I was going to skip SMT as school is about to start and it's my final year at college...but I need it.

Would probably be my last 3DS purchase in a while. I hope it's better then Pokemon since I'm skipping that for this

Hang on, that makes no sense... Chibi-Robo games were never numbered...so that's not why it was called Zip Lash.

Not necessarily, let's wait and see.

To each his own.

In the interview it had been mentioned more than once that Zip Lash is spin-off which they did to grow the IP brand awareness. It end up bombing.

Before we got ourself DQ 8 and MH Stories, 3DS is not dead lol.

Yes, all short skeleton character designs are now obvious Undertale references.

Man I hate Undertale too but come on. He's also blue, has an emphasis on one eye, and if his pose is any indication he's also a mischievous character.

I don't think they copied it. I think it's a weird coincidence though.

I added a summary with a link to each thread to the op and also a link to the VODs for anyone who wants to watch it later.

Man, GAF is so moody. You're like a teenage girl that if you don't please her, goes from one extreme tantrum to another, depending on her mood. Find middle ground, GAF, this is excellent news for 3DS owners and the possibly the last hurrah before NX starts dominating ads soon. I definitely want both Yokai Wafches, DQVIII, Mario Sports, And Yoshi's yarn with poochie. We always knew DQVIII was next year but I hope it's a February release date. Now, time to bring on NX news in the next Direct.

It's ok to have differing opinions. I thought it was kind of 'meh'. Mario Sports looks solid, but these are not their AAA release games. Lots of filler before NX, in my opinion. Yoshi is a maybe, but most likely will pass on it (can buy it for the wii u discounted right now).

Wow, didn't even know a Zelda Symphony was scheduled to play in Germany!

MY BODY IS READY FOR STUTTGART!

And right after that comes Video Games Live in Nuremberg on November 12th.

Two amazing concerts in my region within a month.

I'm one lucky motherfucker.

I'm so sorry that the seventh colorful platformer and two Wii U ports of games I wasn't interested in to begin with, are not appealing to me. And this not how the last hurrah for a great console like the 3DS should sound like, either.

In short: people are allowed to voice opinions, even if they are negative. Without negative feedback, Nintendo will never learn. Think about that.

Also, after Nintendo uses nearly every opportunity to upset their fanbase, the moody atmosphere in GAF is not really unexpected.

so when will nintendo announce star fox zero for the 3DS, where you have to use the 3DS's gyro to move the arwing, use the top screen as a interior cockpit, and use the bottom screen as a third-person view

Not a Nintendo person at all so here's come the cynical view...

I'm part way through watching this, just to see what's happening and boy... I just don't get the excitement for Nintendo's stuff. Yeah yeah it's all about fun gameplay etc and they're great at that, but it's just the same franchises over and over and over, and the fact Nintendo go into far too much detail about one new gameplay mode for this years version of last year's game and make a big deal out of it shows that. It's like.. I'm not sure what anyone else gets out of playing with the same very small subset of gaming franchises over and over. When one new gameplay mode being added is what the big deal for the new version is all about, it just rings incredibly hollow to me. Are you all actually excited for that ONE NEW GAME MODE and willing to pony up another $40 for it?

Seriously this. I think people like this should seriously consider just taking a break. Lay off games for a few months. I spent a few months just not in the mood for games. I'd dabble in multiplayer matches here and there. Finally after a 5-6 months I just suddenly got back into the grove and I am enjoying everything I've touched. Even jrpgs which I thought I could never have time to sit down with anymore (Playing through DQ4 on DS for the first time and it's amazing). On top of that playing TF2 and BF1 has been a blast (while everyone else is complaining). I thought today's announcements were really enjoyable.

I am sorry. But did you actually forget the graphically inferior port of a game that came out 12 years ago on PS2? How could you not be excited about that, you whiny brat!

DQVIII 3DS is great though. Yes it is graphically inferior, but it has a load of extra content and is just generally better to play than the PS2 version.

None of the stuff new to this direct looks interesting to me, but it's always nice to see Nintendo acknowledge Dragon Quest.

Why? Did I miss something regarding the N3DS in the direct?

Sexy galaxy version.

This made me realize how much I really just want a beefed up 3DSv2 (upgraded SoC, keep the 4" 3D LCD but at 540p/720p... bump the battery life, upgrade the analog nub, add analog triggers, etc...keep the classic clamshell design

Im not looking forward to a 6-7" device with removable controls to replace my portable.

That was so much goddamn trash. Nintendo never fails to disappoint. I love Pikmin, but the thought of playing it as a sidescroller is disgusting. I wonder when they decided to scrap the next Pikmin project for WiiU and shift it to NX and make this travesty on the 3DS instead.

It's clear that since the WiiU bombed they are cashing out adapting popular WiiU games on the 3DS which has a decent marketshare, but as an owner of both this interests me zero. I have no desire to play a shittier version of Mario Maker, Yoshi's Wooly World, Hyrule Warriors, Pikmin, etc.

I'm pretty convinced at this point Nintendo is going in an entirely different direction than what I want from them as a past fan. Unfortunate. Seems likely their head will still be up their asses for NX, too.

You mean the port of one of the best games of all time that's superior in every way but graphics? Yeah it makes sense to be excited about it.

3DS still showing signs of life. I'm personally waiting for the NA localization of Etrian Odyssey V, which is definitely my most anticipated 2017 title. Ever Oasis looks good.

I don't know if the Pikmin game will be good, but it is something. I will be very busy with my backlog, and there are some 2016 releases that I will get to.

I think they're just in some weird transitional period between current gen (two different systems) and the next gen (NX, with one library). Except for the fact that their internal structure between handheld and console have already merged.

With the NX coming up, they need some 3DS sales with minimal effort (hence the ports), because their current console is dead.

Personally im so happy I sold my n3DS, the only game I would play is DQVIII and I played it back in the PS2 days. NX cant come soon enough

I liked the direct a lot actually. I was not expecting new games (Mario Sports looks great), especially so many Wii U titles. Weird that they would be doubling down on 3DS and Streetpass (!!!) with NX right around the corner, but I love it as a New 3DS owner. It's an amazing system, old or not.

I heard Yoshi's Wooly World is a great game - if I had a Wii U I would have bought it - so this is great news for me. Mario Maker there better be some online component or what's the point - I'm lucky to Streetpass anyone, much less some who actually owns the same game as me. And the Sports game could be decent if the baseball mode is anything like Superstar Baseball

There's no need to change facts. Dq8 was announced as a 2016 title and That was never changed until today. Even when dq7 got delayed, dq8 was still showing as a 2016 title. Personally, I am fine with it.mthere are enough great RPGs this year, it is better to spread them out and it will take a longtime for most people to finish 7 and be ready for a new one.

Dragon Quest VIII was already announced as delayed to 2017 in Europe prior to today.
