Mission Complete.

That was a lot of fun. I'll definitely try to play more co-op! Well worth the stack of 3DS games that I traded for it, which I was never gonna finish.

I've gotten way more enjoyment and mileage out of this game than I initially thought I would. Even moreso when it comes to playing online, I actually have been seeking out people on my friends list to team up with and play. I've played up through mission 18 and I very much like the variety of stage objectives, and the little meta objectives (for bonuses) are challenging twists.

I know this game was getting a lot of hate, but am I the only one who kind of hopes for a DLC announcement in tomorrow's 3DS focused Direct?

So I'm near the start of H6 and I get disconnected. Whatever, it's 6, I have a plating and some packs, and to be honest the group I was with was too hasty to get a good score (not using shatter for max points, etc.) So I hang through by the skin of my teeth until I get to the pre-altar area, abd I accidentally drop down in the little mod alcove below. I grab the mod, and on the way up I fall and lose my 10k points worth of work.

God damn it.

There's worse - I'm hoping for a wiiU port announcement ; )

There's a higher chance for an NX port announcement :D

Well, I'll join you in the loony bin since I'm secretly hoping Code Name S.T.E.A.M. gets an NX port to give it a second life with HD assets.

My physical copy will most likely have the atrocious USK logo, covering 1/4 of the boxart's face.

We can start an online petition or something.

what country are you in?

I use coolshop for day -1 (or day 1 at the latest) delivery and (usually) cheap prices but they only have storefronts for a few select countries and don't ship to countries snot covered by the specific stores.

Too late, I've ordered from Amazon.de, ETA mid-September : / At least I've bundled a TriForce Heroes with that. I might succumb and get a digital copy FF as well, since I'll be doing plenty of local multi with kids and friends. Decisions, decisions.

Fuel Injection with Combustion is hilarious but both are rare mods so your asking for sorrow if you disconnect.

Combustion is so rare I thought they axed it from the game.

Apropos, DL size is a tad above 10K blocks.

So, I am loving this so far. Is there a list for Neogaf Friendcodes so I can play with you guys? my friendcode is 4828-7457-4475. Add me. I'll be online all day today anyway.

huh, 3DS doing zip files now too? :D
I think it has to do with the fact the 3ds re-signs/re-encrypts the distributive during dl/installation, so it needs some extra space to do its job.

Thank you, added myself to the list and will add your code as soon as possible.
Added both of you. Haven't downloaded the game yet, though (need to free another 5K blocks or just get a larger sd).

Bought it today, played a bit both in solo and multi online. The mood around this title is so negative that I sort of forgot how talented Next Level Games is, I was surprised at how fun and well made everything is. I hosted a group where we played the first three missions together, it was great, I sort of felt bad when I had to disconnect and leave them. The dynamics really reminds me of multiplayer Luigi's Mansion, which makes sense, it's very unlike a traditional multi FPS. The universe and controls and parts of the gameplay are definitely Metroid but the game has its own identity. The extra objectives and scoring system mean I'll play this A LOT. 3D is very well used, visuals are great in action, the planets and missions seem to be varied...

Such a shame that manbabies crying because their shiny new toy isn't what they wanted sabotaged launch. I hope worldwide sales will be decent, this is a very interesting direction.

I downloaded this today along with Gotta Protectors. I have to say, in motion this is probably one of the nicest looking 3DS games to date...toe to toe with Luigi's Mansion.

Controls feel nice, like the original Prime. There's a nice little bit of exploration to the levels. I'm really liking it.

Three for three now too. Chibi Robo, Starfox and now Federation Force...all great, all hated on this forum because...reasons? I think I'm done consulting GAF for opinions.

I've played the first two missions solo and what I've seen is a perfectly solid game with great atmosphere, clever design and a pleasant feeling and response. However, It should incorporate more control options.

Talking about the atmosphere, the first mission could totally be an introductory segment of any main Metroid Prime, and the second has some amazing Chozo vibe that wouldn't be out of tune either. Obviously this is a more direct approach to the series, with linear levels guided by specific objetives, but as a portable cooperative spin off I think that is perfectly fine.

I've loved how M02 takes the ball idea and introduces new hazards and obstacles to make it harder while keeping it fresh. If this is the tonic of the level design I think I'm going to enjoy it a lot. I'm afraid it soon will turn unbalanced playing solo, though, considering some things I've read. Luckily I have some friends planning to get this too, so I'll be able to play it accompanied.

Anyway, overall I've found the game quite polished in every aspect. It is obvious that Next Level has invested a lot of love and detail in making the final product as special as possible, so it makes me sad how the fan response has literally turned that into garbage.

I'm having some trouble getting three medals on M16: Slipstream and I honestly have no idea why. The bonus objective is not to lose any spheres, and I've beaten the stage half a dozen times without dropping any off the edge by accident, but I keep getting "Incomplete" for the bonus. What gives? What am I doing wrong?

I'm really struggling on this one. I want to pick up the game so I can play with you chaps but I've already got a bit too much on my plate backlog-wise and budget-wise...but I'm afraid by the time I pick it up most of you will have moved onto something else.

Thanks, I don't like dealing with google docs :)

Adding to OP in a bit.

hype culture sadly goes both ways. hype-hate is a terrible off-spring off that.

How's the soundtrack in this? Did any tracks from Prime/Corruption/Echoes make their way across to Federation Force?

It's actually kinda fun to play one mission per session, even in solo. There's variety in every mission and Samus is mentionned a lot in the game for she's doing a mission on her own (as usual) that ties to the main campaign.

The controls are good but even with the sensibilty at the maximum, the New 3DS thumb doesn't seem to help me looking / aiming faster.

The game looks way better than what we saw since the reveal, it is very slow

In solo, if you die, you restart the whole mission from the beguinning, no checkpoint, no saves. Hopefully the mods can help but if you fail just one jump (especially without your mech) : Game Over.

The musics aren't great, except for the briefing theme, the only one who sounds like a "Prime" game.

Ok, some Sofa Surfers gone from the SD, some FF acquired.

Apropos, FF is #19 in the PL recent bestsellers charts.
