So... do we have any information how the preorders are going? P5 is currently the #1, #4 and #5 ranked game on Amazon Japan, but I was wondering whether we have some concrete numbers.

LTTP but The Day Breakers was pretty nice. The fact that it apparently shows events which will be seen in the game makes it more of a preview of Persona 5 than a standalone story but I'll take it. I wonder if Atlus knows that they are basically getting people used to JP voice acting which isn't even in the final game outside of Japan. Except this is Atlus, I don't need to wonder. I know they know but they just don't give a rat's ass.

Have they ever verified which version of the game they have been showing off in trailers? Presumably they would go with PS4 over PS3, but I just realized I haven't really thought about it being multiplatform for a while. I'm curious if there will be any real visual differences, or just a better performance on PS4. The style of the game seems like it would look good on both consoles.

Pretty sure the first trailer or so was PS3, but in 2015 they started showing PS4 footage almost exclusively.

It's pretty clear just from visual fidelity that PV1 and PV2 were PS3 and everything since has been PS4.

?! Wait... what? Persona 5 won't have Japanese voice acting as an option for other places beside Japan...?

it was like persona 4 with less murder

Savage.

It won't have Japanese audio in North America for sure (although they said they might be able to release it as DLC), I don't know about places like China though.

And then was me like "nothing i would love more than getting this dubed at some point with the game cast" meanwhile watching it.

But i know that like wish the p3 movies get a dub out of nowhere

Anyway about the original cast

I dont like Yusuke japanese voice sounds so manly / older almost unfitting compare to the character design wonder if the dub would go for the same manly & older tone or find something more fit to an teenager
Like Morgana english voice which sounds way diferent at the japanese

PD: Same with Igor keep the regular one or get a new one to fit the japanese change

Well, I literally lived in a small town pretty much like inaba complete with a big market super store running the local businesses out. Except we had ninjas.

Ninjas are underrepresented in modern Persona games (unless you count Yosuke's Persona).
Was it always like this?

Maybe. Liam O'Brien's not reprising Navarre, either, and he was in a game as niche as Etrian Untold 2 last year. Things can always change, but Bailey's always said that she loves playing Rise and that she was disappointed that she couldn't return for DAN. The desire's there, if nothing else.

For what its worth, Liam O'Brien's been taken on by Blizzard as their voice director (at least for World of Warcraft, though most likely for all their works) and he's also taking on a major role in the current expansion (Illidan Stormrage, though he hasn't actually shown up much yet), so he may've just been really busy over there.

They couldn't get her back for SMT IV Apocalypse either, so she might have gone the way of Troy Baker unfortunately.
If I recall, she couldn't do Rise for P4:DAN because of scheduling conflicts. I don't think Laura Bailey is unionized (otherwise she wouldn't have reprised her role as Chun-Li for Street Fighter V).

Bad thing about Persona recast is they got stuck with the replacement, i can understand why Troy Baker never came back but the other cases like Margaret or Naoto implyng they cant get it for time (not other reasons) they stick for the replacements in later games when they simply can just give the role to the original actress

So if a new P4 dub gets in the future i dont see Ashly Burch getting the role down easily even if Bailey and fans wanted it unless the studio see the backlash of having Rise trailer voiced by Burch as Atlus most dislike video in Youtube.

And takes her as temporal fix until Bailey got time of her bigger roles

(Too bad Alexis Tipton is houston based because she sounds exactly like Bailey in some roles she could be a great replacement like Mercer take Kanji from Barker with a lot people even noticed)

Perhaps he's wondering why someone would shoot a man before throwing him out of a plane.

On the subject of VAs, I was just wondering who the fuck DID play Naoto in P4 Arena? I noticed that she sounded remarkably similar to Kei Nagase from Ace Combat 5, whom of which was voiced by Karen Strassman. Does anyone know if this is true or not?

P3 and P4 generally had great english VA so I expect the same to be true here.

It is kinda weird that we haven't had ANY English trailer yet though.

I mean....the game still has 5 months to come out over here. We'll probably see more starting at any events in November or December. At the least, I think they want to distance themselves a bit from the Japanese release date. In truth, there probably hasn't been much voice work done yet even if casting is mostly done.

I was kinda "angry" when we get the pv04 with subs instead of dubs back in the E3 specially with Morgana speaking english in the event so you can think the main cast is at least already chosen at that point (i still think it is , is an English main cast assemble since a while ago) so i was hoping for some trailer with some lines recorded just for it , but at the time i get was TOO early for that back in June (8 months to go)

Now makes more sense why didnt see anything yet , Atlus just got Odin Sphere and King of Fighters out of way i imagine got this month "busy" with SMT Apocalypse so my bet is going to see something dubbed around mid-October or later
lucky enough during this month just for early tease ... but that's my wishful thinking

It always struck me as odd that Blizzard would keep bringing him on, when they're the only game company to employ an in-house voice/casting director full time. But considering how much dialogue they do and throw away to get things perfect, I guess she has her hands full doing all the other games.

If you listen to the 8-4 podcast this week they had a brief talk about Persona 3 and 4 and what they said really rings true: the games' walking-around-the-world segments are really designed 100% to reflect what living in Japan is just like. Persona 4 in particular absolutely captures the sensation of living in a sleepy old inaka town. Hell, I actually think my place might have been a little bigger than Inaba because we had:

a) A castle
b) TWO shopping districts
c) multiple train stations within the town.

I'll link a few pictures in text because it's a bit off-topic but I do want to show what the place where I lived kind of was like.

Apparently, Jun Fukuyama (VA for P5Protagonist) picked Makoto as his favorite character (or female character). This along with Soejima saying she's one of his favorites points to her being a dev-face. (─‿‿─)

Man, just hearing the P3 music is making me really nostalgic...

...which is funny because I played P3 like 7 years after it was released

God I can't WAIT for the BGM of P5

maybe it's p3's more dour tone but I always liked its BGM better. Not really the battle music though, P4's poppy stuff was way nicer.

I kinda wish I had it in me to stick through P2 (especially IS, which I do one day want to experience), but good god...

Famitsu gave P5 39/40.

Which I think is the highest any Atlus game has gotten from them.

They also say that it took them 80 hours to complete

~80 Hours pretty much confirms my theory that the game isn't really any longer than 3 or 4, just has more stuff going on in it. No qualms with that here.
