New Pokémon Sun & Moon trailer & anti-reading, no lore fun committee (September 6th)

Seems like all three of them are related, I wonder who is the Father?

Where have I seen this before...

Everyone panic! Cute-fied Eldrazi!

Interestingly enough, Type: Null is seen using Tri Attack in the english trailer, which is a move that R/B Normal Form MissingNo. can learn through TM.

I don't actually think that's going to be a thing, but it's just an observation.

So Aether Foundation secret true villains?

I fucking love Type: Null, feels like it is straight out of Mother 3.

Also, this game looks insane. So many features and the story is so different for a Pokemon game. Hype!

Just wish there was Alola pokemon from other gens...

Be kind of cool if Null: Type is the error handling for RBY transfers.

Glitchy Pokemon trying to be transferred? Turns into Null: Type.

You could do some funky stuff with its move set if it kept the moves of the glitch.

I hate the predefined message jank they make you choose from in the photo mode. Stuff like that lowers the quality of the game.

Is moon set entirely at night? That would be rather annoying.

They're set 12 hours apart, so if it's 3 pm in the real world (basically the time your 3DS is set to) it's 3 pm in Pokémon Sun and 3 am in Pokémon Moon. At least I think that's how it works, not entirely sure.

The story in this game is shaping up to be very interesting. Might even come close to Black & White.

GameFreak has gone off the deep end, and it's beautiful.

Some really cool stuff here - I love the concept of the UB Pokemon. Type: Null is dope too~

If we still don't get Pokémon that follow us around after all this, I dunno.
Why are people still so hung-up on this? It's gone and it's never coming back - just let it go already.

It's a ton of work for a relatively minor feature that has no real impact on the gameplay.

I wonder if it will turn out that the Aether Foundation, with their manmade island, are making these artificial pokemon like Type: Null and UB-01. Especially with how much Gladion looks like that Aether girl, they have to be related somehow.

Ultra Beasts = Great Ones
Aether Foundation = Byrgenwerth
GameFreak been playing Bloodborne? Is UB-01/Jellygirl
Ebrietas
?

That's an anime villain if I've ever seen one.
Type: Null seems like a reject Dark Souls design too.

Type: Null gave me that missingno vibe at first, but then you look at it and it's more like Type: Spikes.

Whatever UB-01 is, it has a better visual design than any new pokemon.

- Type:Null is one of my favorite Pokémon designs this generation. I love it, straight into my team.
- Moon version adding 12 hours and Sun version taking 12 hours from your real time might be an interesting gimmick, I hope you can still catch the majority of Pokémon anytime and that the time of day only affects appearance rate, though.
- It seems like the game might have an actual story with some narrative outside of "this is evil person and this is your cover art legendary".
- The Aether Foundation are real villains and Team Skull will actually help you save Alola, I'm calling it. And it's a nice spin on the story formula from past games.

These games seem to be the right successors to Black and White, I haven't been interested in a new mainline game in quite some time. It's a shame that Game Freak didn't maintain consistency with things like mega-evolution, though, I feel like they shouldn't have included that at all if they didn't plan to keep introducing new ones in next generations.

Everything looks great, but that Snap Mode shows a really rough framerate. Hopefully they fix that before the game is done.

Unless they resize them or don't allow a lot of Pokémon to follow you this isn't really possible on the current format. They would need a much more open world to allow Pokémon to follow you.

I can't pinpoint where but I swear I've seen really old artwork that has depicted creatures that look similar to Type: Null. I know I've seen a drawing of a fish tail, horse body and an underwater diving helmet combination somewhere before. Either way it looks interesting.

Curious what the point of Ultra Beasts will be if you can't catch them. Perhaps they will be used for boss battles and they have really high stats or something.

Oh my, another organization.:O I love the two team concept via Team Magma/Aqua, so cool that they are exploring that again or such from the looks of it.

And that Null Pokemon is quite interesting.

In the Japanese trailer (the one with the real-world kids) you see the PC and Kukui looking at a mountain top and two shrine-like peaks in front of it, wonder if that's related to Rockruff's evolution?

Speaking of which COROCORO HYPE this weekend.

Was wondering when that was coming around, so can't wait!:D

Sun doesn't take 12 hours away, if it did the time would be the same as Moon, just a different day. Sun just uses your normal time.

Boss Doggie

all my loli wolf companions are so moe
Yes that's my entire point. They adjusted the gym levels up to account for the fact that you gain exp faster, and I'm arguing that they didn't do it in a way that balanced difficulty. It is easier and faster to outstrip the gyms, even the late game gyms, and the E4 in X than it was in HG or Black. That's been all I'm trying to say

That doesn't make the earlier games "easier" though, you just level up faster here. Regardless of your level you can still overwhelm the gyms pretty much in other games. The problem with XY is that with all of the battle mechanics improvements, the single player wasn't accommodated for that.

Wait it's this week??? I thought it was next week

usually 10th day onwards.

So Jangmo-o is bulletproof and soundproof?

Yeah, both defensive abilities but for different reasons

Now that makes sense, I saw some sites reporting that Sun took 12 hours away and I was having trouble processing how that would be any different than adding 12 hours gameplay wise lol

Type: Null is the "First Half-Life, 3 Screenshots" of Pokemon.
"New Pokemon Type: Null Announced"

They are going so off the wall with this game, it's hard not to be excited. Though I dislike that Moon basically has opposite time. I typically only have time to play at night, so I will effectively only be playing in the day. I have to wake up early to play at night. WHAT

I think itll come back. Maybe not with Sun/Moon but eventually. Think about this.

After HGSS was BW. They couldnt do it because they used a new engine, and they would have had to make overworld sprites AGAIN for all the pokemon, just to be scrapped for Gen 6.

Gen 6 they had a new engine again. And a TON of other work to do.

Gen 7 is yet again another engine, but this time is actually to scale and seems to be forward compatible, at least with its scale. NOW they can start integrating overworld models again (as they have been). Allowing you to have your pokemon outside of its pokeball will return someday, theres no reason for it not to.

Be kind of cool if Null: Type is the error handling for RBY transfers.

Well I understand why it would be cool. Also from a design perspective its not all that hard to do now. Every pokemon has a battle sprite, and therefore has an overworld sprite that is incredibly similar. It appears that it may just be lower poly. They biggest issue from a design perspective is a walking animation.

What does bulletproof do, steel immunity?

No, it's an immunity to a specific set of moves, works like soundproof.
This is where the localization changes for names throws a spanner in the works much like konami in the OG days of yugioh. There are a few moves with ball/bomb in their japanese name but not reflected in the english one.

The minor irony is that since I will mostly play at night and I'll likely be getting Moon, most of my game will occur in the day, so Moon will effectively be the day time version for me.

I really love how Alola feels alive and like a real part of the Pokemon world with Pokemon everywhere and lore related sidequests.
